A Grave Insult

Earlier this seed I witnessed an act of insulting barbarism. A band of orcs, apparently from Krugmar decided it fit to violate our sovereignty by kidnapping Prince Haelphon's adopted son.

It is my understanding that we have a Non-aggressive pact with the Warnation of Krugmar. While their culture might be might makes right, and take what they think is theirs. This pact meant that they respected our culture of peace and freedom. However with the events that transpired, it appears that this respect has vanished.

As far as I was able to ascertain, one merchant was severely injured. Watchman Seth of the Laurelin Vanguard was almost killed trying to protect me from harm from these marauding orcs. Other citizens fled as threats on their lives were made.

This insult should not stand. Krugmar should give full explanation of this. And I believe that restitution should be paid if our 'friendship' is to continue in the future. At the very least the Council should meet very soon to discuss the severity of this insult.

I personally cannot understand how important this orcling could have been to warrant an attack on our soil. No diplomatic channels were opened, and no warnings given. Just threats and violence.

It has also come to my attention that the their is doubts among the orcs that we have not upheld our side of the pact. This is utterly false. In the seeds before I became Princess I aided High Princess Indelwehn in seeking audience with King Enor of Oren. Had this not been done, Krugmar would have been crushed under the heel of Oren and Kal'Urgan

In addition I have at least in one occasion during my duties as Magistrix of the Vanguard, again before I attained the title of Princess, sent the Vanguard to aid Krugmar against one of their rogue clans.

Those are only two instances of where I have personally been involved with Malinor helping Krugmar. I am sure the other Princes have their own tales of similar events.

I find it insulting that we respect their culture and turn a blind eye to some of their carnal ways, yet in return we receive insults and claims that our culture is 'toopid'. Why does our alliance only work in one direction?

I have a deep respect for the orcs, their culture and government; but it seems as though the only thing they hold up the alliance for is to go to war alongside us, which is the last thing we want to do. Do we not deserve respect in return?

I have a neutral respect for the orcs, and I greatly admire the wise shamans. It is a shame they are causing wars like this. I wonder why this is happening, and what events may have forced these conditions upon us.

In my studies of species the orcs are strong and love there honor. They might think that capturing this cub would give them honor and not make them "white-wash".

I see that the only thing in Krugmar that stands for elven is that damned warden base i keep seeing. This is even empty. I respect them greatly but if nothing is done ill look down upon both, my own culture and the orcs. I see the humans and dwarves are acting nice together.

But then again they are probably getting the dwarves drunk and the humans are getting ores for there weapons.

Its almost like a relationship. And many of our elven women fall for orcs. This I cannot see why.

But who even made us allies? This makes no sense with me what-so-ever. So they either shape up and stand down or a war may be brewing around the corner once all of these troubles end.

I will not be staying around long enough to watch it though..... as I have a destiny. And it does not matter with the elves or orcs. It involves war.

So either go to war or blood will be spilt.

I understand. The cub is weak for an orc because it isn't brought up in the same environment. All this raucousness in the streets is because you care for the cub and want it to grow up big and strong. If the cub doesn't want to be an orc then both elves and orcs alike should treat it as an elf. It will be a shame if he ever wants to return to Krugmar when he grows up because he'll get flattened.

My brother was almost killed, and they tried to break in my home. I also noticed that there were humans with them, and they eould threaten your life before even asking about the cub. I personally was at Krugmar when the treaty was agreed on, and the orcs were so desperate for our help that they were begging us. I think the treaty may need some reevaluation if an apology is not recieved.

But as I said before, there was no warning. No talks, just fighting and threats. And this flies in the face of our pact with Krugmar. As others have stated before, respect is a two way street. We have long respected the warrior culture of Krugmar and offered aid in the past. But the respect has not been shown in return.

We constantly have had orcs come into Malinor assaulting others and causing damage. In the past I've even had issues with some orcs that just do not know how to keep their hands to themselves and show no respect at all. This has long been overlooked, merely written off as "that's just how they are."

This will no longer be the case. Our Vanguard now has instructions to deal with these infractions as they would any other. If the orcs cannot behave themselves as Guests to Malinor, they will sit in a cell until they learn. These orcs are an embarrassment to you, Warlord.

The warlord, Haelphon and I will decide what will be best for little Thul. When we found him, he was lost in our forests and confused. He was sick from the rain and terrified of everyone that came near him. For the first couple weeks the princes and princesses looked after him, keeping him out of trouble and making sure he didn't get lost again.

We once took him on a trip to Krugmar, to meet his family, but the orcs there scared him so he wanted to come back to Laurelin.

I understand fully why you want him back in the sands of Sanhar, and that you want him to become a true orc. Yet we must also consider what the cub wants for himself, as he is very bright for his age and has showed great talent in alchemy along with his wish to become a druid. I will not let him go without the proper training, as he must learn how to protect himself. Would it even be possible for the orcs to train him, and for him to live as he wishes? I have seen elves live as orcs, yet why can it not be the other way around? If Thul wishes to stay with us, respect his wish and let him. He will not become as weak as you believe, as I will see to it myself that he grows up strong.

I am also quite disappointed in the orcs that stormed Laurelin, as they did so without warning. I tried to calm them down, but I was drug back to Krugmar by Bog, as the group of orcs stormed my house to find Thul, I was terrified to hear this as my three year old was with Thul and he easily could have been hurt.

My only wish is to keep the peace between our nations, as the treaty still stands as it always has. If you have any problems with anything involving orc-elf relations, please speak to me before acting irrationally.
