Awlrick Gribbs 3 Share Posted January 30, 2012 *You see a post on the Dwarven community board labeled, "Tavern Troubles"* Greetings, my name is Awlrick Gribbs, and I ask that my brother and sister Dwarves listen to a request that would provide betterment for the Dwarven race as a whole. To begin, allow me to ask, "What are the three most crucial aspects of the Dwarven lifestyle and culture aside from battle?" Easily, these are good food, better ale, and the best of company. Although the adjectives may be in any order, these three underlying factors play a very significant role in Dwarven culture. For the greater good of all Dwarves, I believe it is absolutely necessary that an establishment be constructed to appease all of these pleasures at once. Just in the case that my suggestion is yet unclear, I am recommending that a Dwarven Tavern be assembled. As I arrived in the new world of Asulon, I thought to myself of the most efficient way to christen this land as our new home. I decided that the best way to accomplish this task would be to build a monument to the greatest joys of the Dwarven race. I was well on my way to beginning my quest when I came across the dreaded land charter laws. To my dismay, these laws only permit land to those with several prerequisites. I could easily fulfill all but one. The idea of coming up with 14,000 minas was absolutely impossible. All of my life I had gotten along with only the necessities in life, and 14,000 minas is more than I can even imagine. For this reason alone, I come to the Dwarven race as a whole for assistance. I am prepared to make a deal with ye. Since all I can offer is a meager 100 minas, I propose that if the land for the tavern is bought, the deed to the land stays in yer hands, unless I can somehow come up with the intended 14,000 minas at a later date such that I may repay ye. In either case, I am prepared to volunteer as much time as possible to barkeep and construct the foretold tavern. The plans for this tavern continue on the attached charter: *Underneath the handscrawled paper, you see an official looking parchment* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAVERN Village Charter MC Name: Master_Maggix RP Name: Awlrick Gribbs TAVERN Village Name: The Burly Beard TAVERNWhy is your character starting this village/settlement? What is its purpose? As a young Dwarf, I always spent my free time at taverns. I wish to provide this opportunity for all Dwarves, and all races that is. Plus, the Dwarven race is in need a a good tavern to satisfy its need for food, ale, and a good time. (//OOC Plus, taverns are always a great source of RP. Hopefully, this tavern will provide the opportunity for increased amounts of RP.) TAVERNWhat type of political system or leadership is within the village? The Barkeep (me) shall maintain functioning order of the tavern to the best of his abilities. Ultimately, the tavern will be under the rule of the Dwarven Kingdom. PATRONSWhat sort of behavior will residents exhibit? In a tavern setting, racial prejudices are less severe than the prejudices between the patron and the stranger. Patrons of different races usually show respect to one another after having bonded through stories told, fists thrown, and ales drunk. Strangers, on the other hand, are not trusted and have all of the racial prejudices as they would outside of the tavern. The prejudices are bound to change regularly with the current status of the Dwarven kingdom. If the Dwarven kingdom is warring with a race, there will probably be tensions between patrons of these two races in the tavern as well. Members of the same race, but one being a patron and the other a stranger, usually get along just fine for obvious reasons. Where would you prefer the town's region to be? *Open to requests* I am asking that I may get some feedback as to a good location for this tavern. I wish it to be easily accessible to Dwarves, yet my greatest wish is to share our race's passions with that of other races as well. (As long as we are allies or nuetral to each other that is.) So, a location that is readily accessible to most would be preferrable. Any other Details: The architechture of the tavern will of course be Dwarven. The floor will hopefully brandish a picture in the likelyhood of a burly-bearded dwarf to showcase the signiture Dwarven craftsmanship of stone. The tavern should have a cave-like feel to it and should be crafted mostly of rock-like materials. Players who have agreed to sign this charter: Since I wasn't officially submitting this yet, I have foregone an attempt to collect signatures, instead allowing the general Dwarven population to see my idea and sign it in a space below these words if they happened to agree to this proposition. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *On a separate small piece of paper you see* PS: The tavern will not survive as only a structure. I will need a few other things as well, such as entertainment and of course the ale. 1. I am looking for a brewing station for the tavern. If ye are willing to make an offer for one, post under this please. 2. Entertainment is a key component to the tavern atmosphere. Once I begin to attain a steady stream of patrons, entertainment will be crucial. If ye have any suggestions or ideas do not feel afraid to post. 3. Please post any other general ideas, comments, or requests ye may have. ~Thanks Lots! Awlrick Gribbs

I be rushin' into constructin' a new tavern, when I should be aidin' existin' ones in growth. I would be greatly interested in 'elpin' at yer tavern. As fer te name, I do ask one ting. I had me a floor design ta match te name. I wouldn't know if yer tavern has te required room ta fit it. (14 blocks by 16 blocks would be needed). I shalt provide a picture of it ASAP. // OOC Lastly, I would like to ask how ales are displayed in LoTC. Do you use items or is it just role played? I came up with the idea of using potions as ales. Well, to be precise, only the "mundane" potion would be the ale since it has no effect. I decided this because the only item needed to brew an "ale" would be sugar. That just seemed very realistic to me. Also, this adds a more important aspect to the role of the barkeep. The only thing is that i don't know how difficult it will be to acquire a brewing station. So, what do you think?

There is a plugin for it, so it will actually get you drunk in game. It slurs your speech a bit and makes you drop items. I would love to see a new tavern in Asulon. If you can get your tavern set up, I'll be glad to visit.
Cracker 4570 Share Posted January 30, 2012 ( PM me on the forums to discuss how to manage the tavern. I've got ideas, and you probably do too. :P )
Saviordude 133 Share Posted January 31, 2012 Ye mean I won't 'ave to travel t' Salvus t' get some ale? Wonderful! I'll gladly patron yer tavern, both fer th' ale and t' tell some stories! And if ye need a bartender, I can do that too! ((Yeah, I'll be telling some stories for entertainment so don't worry about that. Just be sure to employ enough people so that there is always a bartender when a lot of people are on. Nothing stops the growth of a tavern more than a lack of service!)) Broski 54 Share Posted January 31, 2012 (( Crackerjack if you want you can.take lead together with awlrick of the tavern. Cracker 4570 Share Posted February 2, 2012 ( yes please! What I really need is for the whole area to be regioned, rooms to have specific regions (for guests) and me having control over the area and ability to give perms to the tavern to people. Not only do I need it for the Tavern , but also for the Merchant Company. That'd be great and would help my rp out a ton)
