(April Fools!) Patch Preview (P2.5)

I personally disagree with the ooc rate, the removing of shout and whisper as I find it quite useful, I would suggest making the emotes go to shout distance though.

I also disagree with the level resets. If anything there should be more skills added and the max level increased.

Rerolling a new character on death is going to stir up problems, and a lot of people are just going to agree to not tell on each other. I do however agree that if you die from something like lava, or a stab through the chest, you should reroll. Only things that would actually kill you no matter the healing you get. Things like getting knocked unconcious could either depend if they call the monks in or they drag the body around, then we should rely more on the 30 minuate rule. That is just my opinion.

I also think you should work on the blocking system, as I find whenever a high level unarmed smacks a low level it gets blocked, but not the other way around. (Figured that out from joking around in skype.) If you are going to add new skills I would suggest some of the following;

Acrobatics; Introduce simple moves permission, it will allow those who install it to use it. Perhaps have it as a villain only aspect. Reduce fall damage, if you have high acrobatics and high unarmed you should be able to block more and roleplay a better fighter, you could also have it so that the person can jump higher. (ex; lvl 25; 1.25 blocks, lvl 50; 1.5 blocks, lvl 75; 1.75 blocks, lvl 100; 2 blocks.)

Athletics; Levels up from running, increases run speed so you don't have to jump and you can be as fast as your character is.

Block; Allows the right click with a sword to actually parry attacks in PVP.

Enchanting; Because you can't find floods of mobs you should be able to get an Enchanting skill where you decrease the levels it takes to enchant things depending on your level.

I am open to any suggestions anyone else has. I just think that the updates I listed are a tad bit wrong, mostly because they add to the fun, the only problem I've ever seen is when someone doesn't know how to RP their character right, not the system's problems.

EDIT; I know it is april fools.

Hey Asulon,

We're going to start pre-announcing patches before they go live so we can get some general feedback on all of our upcoming updates, and so we can make any changes that may be needed before release. With that out of the way, here is what we have planned for patch 2.5, scheduled to drop in a few hours.

  • Fixed a dependency issue with Citizens, caused the skill system combat and character cards to break.
  • Fixed mob spawning rates.
  • Added a 60 second delay to OOC messages to solve some of the apparent trolling and misconduct that has been occurring in the OOC chat.
  • Extend local chat by 100 blocks to compensate for the changes of OOC. (Original: 30 blocks)
  • Removed shout and whisper channels, as they were not being utilized the way we wanted them to be; plus they will no longer be needed with the extended local chat.
  • Fixed the crazy overpowered poison spider venom.
  • Skill System max level has been dropped from 275 to 200. Any accounts with more than 200 levels have been reset and given 200 skill credits. This is for game-play balancing.
  • Map size will be shrunken down to 4,000 x 4,000, just like the Aegis map; this is both for fixes to the latency and to centralize roleplaying more on the GM-made structures.
  • Beds can now be used during the day as well as night!
  • You will now be required to reroll your character on death. Failure to do so will result in an automatic 1 month ban, regardless if the kill was IC or OOC.

We'll be renaming the four default races to better fit our lore and gameplay feel. Here's a breakdown of all the new races:

Human - Zelot

Dwarf - Rockary

Elf - Alfefe

Orc - Grunshie

We'll be enforcing these new race names very strictly, any mention of the old names in lore posts or anything else related to LOTC will result in a permanent ban. We don't normally respond so strictly, but we feel it is critical to the survival of the server. All forums and in-game locations will be renamed accordingly to support this new naming system.

Thanks for your continued support and general awesomeness LOTC, keep it up! (And be sure to let us know what you think of this awesome new upcoming patch!)

No. Jus-just no. Vaq, you are an epic coder but doing this is jus-just bad. Re-rolling after you die? With the spider infestation (At the moment) in Menorcress my Mori wouldn't last one second. The races who need applications (Kharajyr and Mori) would die out quickly. Not only that but people spend MONTHS UPON MONTHS developing their characters. Please do not make everyone have a forced re-roll or i will probably quit.
