The Passing Of Tla' Xerdun

The flame had all but burned out. The fiery blue passion that ever roared in Tla' Xerdun's eyes was now doused in the tears that poured down his face, matting his white fur. He had been sat in his chambers alone, thinking endlessly for days. Tla' Xerdun, prophesised to be the greatest Tlatlanni Khalenwyr had ever known, had failed. His people were leaving the shores of the Empire in hordes and there was nothing he could do to stop them. His dreams were haunted with visages of destruction and of death.

That night Metztli appeared to Xerdun in a dream. He felt at peace as the beautiful blue furred Kha's figure held him in her arms upon his bed, stroking his fur comfortingly. Metztli whispered into his ears of peace, that having restored Va' Khajra and reignited the Kharajyr's faith in their deity, he had done all he could for his people and that now was his time to join her. Slowly awaking from his dream, Xerdun quietly made his way into Metztli's chamber. He placed both his paws onto the pulsating blue stone and bowed his head, whispering "Xerdun is ready - do with him as you will". An eruption of light cast itself from the stone and all turned to black.

Xerdun did not know how long had passed, but now he found himself atop the rear of the Temple. Metztli was high in the sky above him and the air around him was unnaturally cold. The jungle was silent and empty. "I will catch you, my child"; the whisper cool and quiet as if carried by the breeze. As Xerdun stood, looking down over the edge of the Temple he could hear his tears echoing off of the cold stone below him. Turning his back on the drop the Emperor raised his hands into the air, his paws turned upwards. Closing his eyes and tilting his face to the sky he took a final, long inward breath, savouring the sensation. "Sa'vi". There was nothing but air; the rushing of air past his ears as his hind paws pushed outwards with all of their might.

The dense blackness of the jungle was pierced for several moments by a light, brighter than Metztli herself. Many say that this light originated from where Xerdun's body had been found. The light rose slowly and steadily from the ground, pouring into even the densest regions of the jungle. The glow faded as the ball of light rose higher and higher into the sky, allowing the foliage to be shrouded in darkness once more. The ball rose until halting by Metztli's side in the heavens. Tla' Xerdun's spirit was given a place of honour in Metztli's entourage, illuminating a portion of the skies above the Khalenwyr Empire each night. Tla' Xerdun's star is said to be amongst the brightest in the night sky and serves as a reminder to the Kharajyr people of his sacrifice, both in living and in death, to the Empire.

The Tlatlanni's body was found at the rear base of the Temple, utterly unscathed and untouched. He lay facing the sky. His eyes were closed. His arms outstretched. His face lay entirely dormant, brightened only by the calm smile that lay across his lips.

(( I didn't feel that just dying would be dramatic enough and so I decided that upon my death (like all Kharajyr) I should go and join Metztli in the heavens and for the deeds I'd performed was granted a place of honour, just below Metztli, as one of the brightest stars, destined to trail behind her throughout the sky for rest of eternity. Know that I am ever watching over you all. Perhaps a good idea for a roleplaying event would be my funeral - I would say it should be held at the peak of the Temple. Custom dictates the body should be burned so that it may join the spirit in the heavens.

Goodbye my friends, it has been a pleasure, and I hope you enjoyed this final piece of lore. I shall return to you over the summer period and look forward to once again roleplaying with you all. Sa'vi my children :) ))

Shajiir is woken from his slumber by the jungle night being iluminated brighter than midday, and rushes outside.

It was dark again, but something was wrong... The air moved about in unnatural and disturbing ways, the forrest completely silent.

Shajiir walked about the nearly empty island, listening to it. Nothing at all. No birds. No insects. Even the turbulent wind had no sound to it. As he wandered restlessly, he found himself on the path behind the temple, where he saw Xerdun resting on the ground, utterly at peace. Shajiir thought of him. Xerdun had done what Shajiir would not at times... Xerdun was his pupil, his Tlatlanni... His best and only true friend.

Shajiir walked towards Xerdun, careful not to wake him, and watched him a bit... He wasn't breathing!

Shajiir sprang towards Xerdun's body

"T- Xerdun! It can't, it- Arhg!

((perfect song for my feelings, plus Shajiir's feelings at the moment))

Shajiir falls to his knees next to his fallen friend, begging him to answer him, begging him to take a breath and wake... When words failed, he slammed his paw into his chest repeatedly, and after a few unsucessful hits, he suddenly holds out his arms and lets out the loudest and farthest-carrying roar that he could possibly produce. After the roar, he merely fell to his back, his eyes meeting the sky. After staring angrily upwards, almost scorning Metztli for taking Xerdun from him... Here he stayed until he fell asleep, into a deep, dreamless sleep...

Kirilenko silently wandering, contemplating everything that was happening. Hearing Shajiir's loud roar he rushed to where it was coming from. He saw Xerdun and Shajiir. He looked to him, thousands of questions buzzed inside his mind, Who will be the new Tlatlanni?, How did Xerdun die?, he could not believe what he was seeing. As he watched Shajiir sleeping and Xerdun's silent body he sat down next to them. He stayed uintil dawn, watching Xerdun for any sign of life, but he had to tear himself away from Xerdun and leave towards the Smithy. As he walked he could not believe his eyes.

* Dra'shavvir hears the roar from Ri'shajjir. and goes to see what happened, when he arrive there he freezes*

Is he...No that can't be, Shavvir does not want to believe this!

*he looks at the body and has to see the sad truth, the geat Tla'xerdun has died*

Al so sudden...I don't get it *he then turns to Shajirr*

Stand up, you need to be strong. We cannot weep now, the empire needs us and you to be strong now.

First we need to move his body someplace safe and then we wake everyone and tell them...

"But why, Shavvir? Metztli takes Xerdun away from us... No matter his efforts, no matter what we do as Kha, it seems nothing can appease her... We shall move him into the temple... Let him rest in the pools ne last time..l"

Shajiir springs to his feet, his expression remaining mostly emotionless... But there was the fire of anger seeping throughout his entire being... You could smell it.

I... I will carry him.

*Wakes up suddenly at the commotion outside*

*walks out angrily towards them, mummbling "Distrubing Tiazar's sleep..."

*Spots Shajiir carrying a body into the temple so decides to investigate*

"Shajiir? What's that?"

*When Shajiir doesn't respond, Tiazar walks into the temple himself to find the body of Xerdun spread out before him*

*Tiazar's eyes widen with terror, in a panic about what will happen now with no leader "No... Xerdun No!" Tiazar releases a roar and slumps to the floor behind Xerdun and Shajiir, staring at the corpse in deep thought*

J'Ranar stood stock still at the mouth of the temple. He didn't blink as the Tlatlanni was carried past him into the temple. His thoughts however, were in turmoil. He struggled to come to terms with what just happened, but realised that it is in times like these that the ones in power must be seen without weakness, lest the corruption of fear and rebbellion spread through the Kha's.

Finally he spoke out to the distressed Kharajyr people.

"Listen to J'Ranar! All must listen to what the Preist of Metztli has to speak!

Don't you see what has happened? Tla'Xerdun was our saviour. Metztli herself sent him here to guide us in times of rebellion, corruption and deciet! She sent him into this world with a plan of re-igniting the Kha with the true faith, and ending the blasphemous reign of the corrupted one. Here me now Kha! He is dead because his task is done! She has taken him to be a star in the sky, the ultimate honor! Don't you see? He is one with the heavans now! He shall live forever in the heavans, as will you all once your time comes. Don't you see?"

J'Ranar Points up at the Star of Xerdun.

He speaks again, although this time with a much softer tone.

"Don't you see?"

A small tear trickles down his face, out of joy, excitment, but under it all a small tone of sadness. Fair hunting in the heavans my Tla.

((We'll welcome you back with open arms once you return ^_^))

As Zeriko returns from the desert, carrying dead pig on his back to see lots of attention at the temple. He drops the pig near a tree's stem to see whats going on. Listened to J'Ranar, while muttering to himself that we will fall few abandoned us, few died, corruption is already here which few Khas cannot see. Rolls his eyes, picks up the pig and walks off to his pride den not caring about the Tla'Xerdun's death.

((Going to miss you))

In a tavern on the side of the road, Mokrag sits smoking a cigar and drinking ale. Four of the "cat people" walked in, 2 facepalming. They announce that some person known as Tla has died. Mokrag turns from his drinking and smoking and says in confused not caring way "Da skah iz uh Tla?"

((higgsy, I doubt that the Kharajyr would come in and tell you that we are weakened...))

Shajiir stands up and walks out of the temple, not even blinking, and walks out into the desert...

((Xerdun, If I never see you again I'll hunt you down and murder you with happiness.))

Hearing the commotion, Se'Zheff springs from his bed, and runs to what his ears tell him is the source of the noise-the temple. There he sees the body of his Tla' still, lifeless. Se'Zheff merely falls to the ground sobbing loudly, a few words can be heard in between his sobs.

"X...Xerdun....NO!"
