Lago 2572 Share Posted April 29, 2012 EDIT: This thread is about deregulating /resetme because people don't buy it anyway and ignore incorrect character cards, and is not against race resets as a VIP perk for any other reason. The premise of the thread is that people do not buy race resets anyway, so the only notable effect of making them public is to make the character cards correct. The /resetme command and by extension, race resets, have long been a donation thing. You pay and you have your race and gender reset. However, those who make new characters or play multiple characters on one account do not or cannot pay for race resets, so they simply put an explanation in the bio section and leave their character cards to be ignored, because, ultimately, the character card is not what defines a character, the way the character interacts and is interacted with is what defines them. In short, nobody pays attention to or really cares about character cards that much, and without race specific soulstone locations, they have no effect but telling those you don't already know your race and gender. When people reroll and change their race and gender and stick an explanation in the bio, it doesn't even say that. In light of this, why is /resetme still an Aether VIP perk (which there are not many of) and limited race resets perks of other VIP forms? People change characters all the time, due to a character just not working anymore or playing multiple characters on one account. This leads to a large number of incorrect character cards. Very few people donate for race resets. /setsoul was made universally available for the betterment of the server. Making /resetme universally available should result in character cards becoming correct with very little impact on donation revenue. Aislin 4354 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Honestly, /lwc and /setsoul should not have been made for regular players. Nor should this. Why? Because the players no longer have incentive to donate. Lago 2572 Author Share Posted April 29, 2012 The incentive doesn't work. People just leave their character cards incorrect. Also, since when was LWC non-donator? EDIT: @Kirrekith: Regardless, some of the VIP perks do make the difference between people donating and not donating, hence them being VIP perks and helping keep the server alive. It is my belief that /resetme and limited race resets do not encourage donation, so restricting them to donators only has the effect of a huge amount of incorrect character cards. 4 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think it'd be nice to be able to reset your character, and like you said I'm sure the donation income won't be effected to harshly. /resetme isn't the only reason people buy VIP. If anyone creates an elf for instance, you will have to play elven characters forever unless you donate. That is a bit of an issue considering you essentially will never be able to do whatever the other race can. This is something that has been brought up many times and I could see both the benefits and drawbacks. In the end, the benefits out weigh the drawbacks. Thrym 188 Share Posted April 29, 2012 I like this idea a lot. It would really help a lot and allow players to try each race and find the one they like best. I know for a fact that sometimes the race you originally make an app for isn't the race best suited for your RP. This would allow everyone to find the "right" race and would hopefully allow the races to only have people in them who love that race and play it well.
