Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

My Minecraft account name is hijklu.

How old are you?

15 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

I currently live in Sweden and that would make the time-zone UTC+1.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes I do. I don’t have any problem with the English language.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

My real name is Sixten. I live in Sweden, Stockholm. I love birding and have a website. I love nature and works for free at our local nature-protection society.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Probably around six to seven hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you?:

In my mind Roleplaying is like acting. You take a role, which in this case you choose yourself. This role has strength and weaknesses. You have to act accordingly to these attributes. This means thinking, seeing and feeling like your character.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I do not have any experience in Roleplaying, however I would really like to learn and experience it on this server.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

I would describe Meta-Gaming as using information you obtained outside the game, to your own advantage in-game. An example would be learning a hidden buildings position by reading an OOC thread on the forums and then sprinting there as if your character magically installed a GPS in their head.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

Power-Gaming is when your character is Role-playing an impossible situation. Example, you are walking down the road and a bandit jumps out of his hiding spot, demanding that you hand over all of your gold. You then say that you stop time, because you are the immortal god of time and then you kill the bandit, when he can not move. The bandit could not move because you threatened to report him for not Role-playing along. This example is of course a little extreme and there are a lot of other ways to Power-game.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect to have a lot of fun and be apart of epic adventures, also maybe even being part of LotC history.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have not played on any well-known server, just some SMP with my friends.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Yes, of course.

How did you hear about us?

I actually have a friend on this server (minato2312) and he recommended that I join. So give him some credit. 

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

No, this is my first application.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character

Character Name:

Olaf

What Race are you?:

Human

What Sub-Race are you?:

I’m a blood brethren of the Halflings

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.)

Olaf was always considered peculiar ever since he was young. He was born with chestnut brown hair and green eyes. Olaf grew tall at a very early age, sometimes people could mistake him for a short human. He developed no sign of any significant muscles, oh poor Olaf, however he was a fast runner. He could run for hours without looking back and so he did. Olaf would cross the village’s border and journey to the woods and beyond. Olaf sometimes did not come home for days on end. His mother, who was very protective of him, always made a big commotion about his disappearance. She always wanted a search party formed to find him, but many of the villagers did not care, not because they were heartless, but they would every time say “That’s just Olaf, you’re his mother, and you know this”. And like the villagers assumed, Olaf came back home, without a scratch on his body and a big smile on his face.

Olaf became known as the fastest boy in the village. People would pay him to deliver messages and packages around the village. Sometimes he would even receive assignments to deliver to the Dwarven mining colonies, or the Human settlements by the coast. Olaf’s would always have a big smile on his face, when he got the chance to leave the village, and also earn some minas on the side. Some could assume that Olaf had distaste for his home, having that grin every time he left, however this was not the case. Olaf loved every part of the village. Olaf loved the old tavern, where he got to taste his first mug of ale. Olaf loved the small borrow, in which he was born. Olaf loved every nook and cranny of his home, but sadly no adventures was to be found in the little peace full village. He wanted to leave, but the thought of leaving his mother was too painful for poor Olaf.

It was an ordinary day and Olaf had just dropt off his last package of the day. Then sun was disappearing into the night and the moon was showing its face. Olaf was on his way home, confident that no wolf or spider would be able to catch him. Suddenly an arrow pierced him. Pain was spreading through his body and blood was poring out of him. Olaf looked behind him and then he saw the most horrible creature. Made of only bone and holding a bow, this creature, this skeleton of a man was getting closer. Olaf scared as he was, tried to run, but it was no use. He only managed to crawl behind a tree, closing his eye and wishing the monster would go away. The footsteps where getting louder and louder, but then the sound vanished. Olaf took a deep breath and poked his head out to see if it was gone, then suddenly an arrow passed right beside him, touching the very tip of his head. Olaf thought this was the end. No one could save him now. But at the darkest hour a light shined through the trees and he saw the shape of a short man. The man, without hesitation, jumped at the monster with a torch. The skeleton caught on fire and tried to flew, but it was no use. The skeleton died, crumbling into a pile of burned bones.

Are you alright? The man asked.

Olaf was too tired to even speak. His eyes closed and all went dark.

Olaf woke up screaming, his body was covered in sweat. Was it all a dream, he thought, but no, he felt the pain from the arrow. Olaf looked around wondering where he was and noticed that he has home, in is bed room. The door opened and his mother jumped at him crying. Kissing his forehead and hugging him. The hug gave Olaf excruciating pain, but he could live through it. A man walked in after her. He was short, he could easily be mistaken for a child. He wore a green cape and hood. A sword was holstered in his belt and quiver strapped on his back. His eyes were dark green.

“Well, aren’t you a late riser, you’ve been sleeping for three days now”. Said the man chuckling a little.

T-three days? Olaf said a little confused.

Oh, yes I was so worried, I thought you were going to die. His mother said, with tears still coming out of her eyes.

He was lucky, another inch to the left and your boy would dead.

W-who are you? Olaf asked, still a little confused.

I’m your mentor, haven’t your mother told about me?

You always wanted to have adventures, and this way I know that you’re going to be safe

T-take me away? Mother no, I’m not leaving you.

Yes you are, you’ve been stuck here for twenty-seven years, but that’s going to change now. At sun-rise you’re leaving this village and never returning.

No, moth…

I don’t want to hear another word about this. I’m your mother and you do what I tell you to do.

Olaf left his home at the age of twenty-seven, with a man he barley knew. He still hasn’t returned home.

Other Information about your Character:

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Olaf would be determent to save his brethren, but he would still like to avoid physical confrontation. He would look for a rock or something similar to throw at the bandits and get their attention. Once the bandit sees Olaf, he would start mocking them and getting them angry, hopefully they would be chasing him now. This would give the other Halfling a chance to escape. Olaf swift as he is would just then run away from the bandits, and optimistically think that he will never see them again.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Olaf would respond with a friendly “Greetings, isn’t it a fine day today”. If something would spike his interested he would ask what the price was, and if reasonable he would buy the item. In other case Olaf would walk away and say “Farewell”.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Reluctant at first, Olaf would hesitate to even touch the items. He would however be mesmerized by the golden sword and its beauty. The iron bars would stay in the hut, but the golden sword would be in the ownership of the swift Halfling.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

His first words would be: “You have a mug of ale and some apples for a hungry fellow” and then begin to chuckle a little. If the merchant would not respond, he would immediately say the following words: “I’ll pay more then average”.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Olaf does not like physical confrontation. He would tell the guards that he could scout or use a bow in case of a fight.

He was eager when he heard of the reward, and so he wanted to help, even though he might not be needed.
