A Note In Haelun'or

-Bordered with the colors Black, Orange, and Green, a note is placed on the boards of Haelun'or.-

Brothers of the city, I have once before come to our city, begging alliance between it and another. That first time I spoke to the Maheral myself, forging a pact with the now defiled city of Holm.

Now, a situation arises in the Heartlands, my towns are threatened by the abominable Renatian empire. I need to once again forge an alliance. Between the City, and the Spectres.

Things may have changed, and you may not be interested, but if they have not, leave your reply here and I shall see it. After such, I will speak to the leaders in person.

Forgive my current lack of presence, time is short.

Noticing the strangely-coloured parchment pinned up on the notice-board, Lucion's natural inquisitiveness draws him closer to read. Pouring over the note's contents, his eyebrows furrow themselves at the request, then suddenly the left brow raises itself higher, in a most quizzical manner. Removing a bone-white piece of parchment from his coat-pocket,Lucion jots down a note and pins it under the notice. He then reads over it one last time, in case of spelling errors.

Greetings to his most elusive "Spectre" lord, Relgard.

Though it is understandable that you would wish to defend your lands against the grotesque, pulsating mass that is the Renatus kingdom, such alliances with other nations are, as you know, generally disliked, as they violate the Mali'aheral's tranquil neutrality and policy of indifference to the pathetic and childish squabbles of the impudent Valah. However, this does not mean your request is without merit. It is entirely possible that the Mali'aheral could lend you support. However, to merely entertain such a request, one would need to give more details first, wouldn't you agree? Where, for instance, is your "heartland"? Why do Godfrey's mutts wish to conquer you? What will you lose, should your "heartlands" be conquered?

As a true and pure Mali'aheral yourself, I would hope that you understand my curiousity. Such drastic decisions are not simply accepted without furious debate among the pure. I would request that all the Mali'aheral of Haelun'or leave their opinions here also. It will help speed the process, as Mr Relgard appears to have little time to spare, apparently. Furthermore, expct expect debate on your opinions.

Satisfied with his note, Lucion wanders off to the tavern, and awaits the other citizens quick replies.

pins his note

Dearest Lucion there is a reason why diplomacy is left to others. I however have no other reports suggesting that Renatus plans to attack Holm. If new information arises we shall reconsider.

A further bone-white note is pinned beneath Kolyat's.

I believe you mis-understand Mr Relgard's request. Holm is not the target of Renatus, and is not what he wishes an alliance for. He merely eludes to the fact that he once made an alliance with us for the Island. He mentioned it for thematic reasons, I suppose.

He is referring to an alliance between Haelun'or and his shadowy "Spectre" group, so as to help defend their "heartlands". I thusly requested that he give more information. Should Mr Relgard return in person, you, of course, will have time with him. However, the full council's input on whether to aid him, should be asked for.

[i hope the above was not meant as a troll, or else I'll raise that little red bar slightly.]

Tapping his cane as he stumbles through the quiet city neats with his leather bag. He curiously reads the note and huffs.

He takes out some parchment as well, writing it in a spidery cursive style, before pinning the note, joining the already clustered notice board.

In all my time I have seen Holm...it was nothing but trouble after trouble. Dwarves who fled fearing retribution, a Demon Queen Orc, and now a gather for the Mali'ker.

And what is the point of even entering a alliance with the Spectres? The Mali'Ahreal are not combat proficient, and I highly doubt books and knowledge will stop the Renatian Zealots. Your 'Spectres' aren't even all Mali'Ahreal as well...

Food for thought!

*sighs and takes out her quill. She neatly crosses out Thelmaras' message. She mutters to herself*

"Thelmaras has been through the wine again..."

Sighing at Thelmaras' message, Lucion notices the far more legible writing above it. Suddenly remembering the meeting with Relgard, Lucion takes out his quill and ink yet again.

The meeting was had with Mr Relgard. Such an alliance would not benefit our people, and would violate our neutrality. Hopefully, this nonsense will convince Mr Relgard to return home to Haelun'or, where he belongs.

*Relgard sees the message in one of his trips to the city, reading it, he sighs sadly.

I long to return home, my brothers, but in doing so I would only create danger for the city. In my travels I have made many friends of all the races, and many enemies of the same. This is the fault of myself; my ambition, the way I was raised, but maybe one day I can come home.

Maybe one day.
