Good post. I suggest also racial spawn instead of a central spawn.

Perhaps make Respawn a place not on the 'map' but has Teleporters to the racial cities, much like the starting area was actually in the Nether.

I like the idea of a natural disaster...

-A GM could slowly rise sea levels untill all of Asulon was 'flooded'?

-Earthquakes, where blocks slowly start to disappear and people take damage?

-A huge volcano, fire and lava would fall over the world?

-Mobs could begin to over-populate and drive us out?

-Global warming (Trolololo)?

And this is if we actually left. I think IF we did leave, the races would need to be closer together and perhaps less big empty towns and cities, people shouldn't create them unless they KNOW they will stay supported.

Natral disaster would be a great way to leave auslon but I would like to stay in Auslon a great deal of time before we hit the road (( around 6 months )) I got a few idea's to prevent ghost towns for the new map

Preventation of ghost town's

-Town owner's will have to have a great deal of effort in to there charter

-Town owner must not have any banns towards them proving they can play without getting banned

Maybe add a requirement of 10 statements that they will be forming the town under the owner?

I do see a problem with the ideal landmass (the islands) in that there only seems to be about 5-6 of minecraft's 20ish biomes used? Which is somewhat of a downer in my opinion. I've had a world with lore I've had on the back burner for sometime, maybe I'll post it up and let people see it, maybe offer it up for 3.0...

May I see a early view of.it ?

Alright, just remember this is a rough in... I've yet to actually define anything in the file yet but I'll send you my lore pretty soon on the whole place. It will look very fuzzy.

I'd just like to preface this by saying that I'm not specifically advocating a map change. While I do think a map change is the best way to solve the myriad problems associated with the current system, I will admit I'm not nearly as experienced as many people here and I don't have close to the same amount of time invested in this map. That said, this is how I would handle it if we were to get a new map.

  • Use WorldPainter to create a map with no more than 2 large (about oren-sized) and 3 medium (about malinor-sized) continents, surrounded by various outlying islands around the size of Holm. Surround the world with an ocean large enough that you can't see beyond the edge of it; put the world border in the ocean.
  • Use WorldPainter to place biomes in a sensible and predictable manner based on climatic rules (E.g., no tundras next to deserts, no jungles next to taigas)
  • Use WorldPainter and VoxelPainter to place ores around the world in a sensible and predictable manner based on geological rules (E.g., more coal in swamps, less diamonds in areas that aren't tectonically active)
  • Use VoxelPainter to refine the world (E.g., overhangs in some places, more exciting mountains than can be produced by WorldPainter)
  • Use VoxelPainter to place unique features that make the world different from other worlds (E.g., giant trees in some areas, volcanoes in others)
  • Create a plugin that limits crop growth to biomes in which it could logically happen (E.g., no wheat in deserts, no sugarcane in tundras). This is easily achieved in CommandHelper, although I'm certain Vaqxine could manage it much better than I using plain old Java. Bonus points if there is a predictable system of seasons implemented!
  • Place the Cloud Temple somewhere not bordering any unclaimed land (i.e., An island) to ensure that it remains a neutral place.
  • Place free fast travel from the Cloud Temple to the major continents. This fast travel cannot be disabled, even at the request of the nations in the region. If they don't like strangers, they oughtn't live near the fast travel points. People/Nations can still buy fast travel points, which they are free to turn on and off at will.
  • Place interesting landmarks such as dungeons, towers, and lore points around the world. Give these landmarks actual uses which warrant investigation and roleplay (E.g., towers that allow you to teleport to other towers of similar type, or dungeons infested with nether-only monsters)
  • Only WorldGuard areas with specific uses that warrant worldguarding. (E.g., cities, roads, landmarks) In order to prevent map debeautification, introduce more stringent rules regarding editing the wilderness.

Those are my propositions for the creation of a new map. My proposition for the transfer from the old map to the new is as follows;

  • Don't use the Undead story again; it is fun, but it quickly becomes a cliche.
  • Allow all players to transfer only one inventory from the old world to the new; easily achieved by running Asulon and the new world simultaneously for a short time, with a boat in between. The boat travels from Asulon to the new world, but will not travel back. (Have the boat erase your soulstone points when you travel over)

I say we only allow items in your hotbar to transfer. Backpack idea.

I agree with the hotbar thing. When we are actually in the process of moving, our characters wouldn't take everything. They would take some food,a weapon if they are fighters, and maybe some family heirlooms(gems).Imagine,if a catastrophe struck, would you be able to bring all the things you can carry. No,you would take the bare minimum, and run for your life.Or bring nothing at all,but probably only the needed items. For me ,that's the most logical choice.

It is not being implemented yet, simply planned.

I will move it.back as I'm not done with it yet and may ask native for further advancement.

Maybe we could make some of the races extinct in a big 'world war' holocaust event. Send them off with a bang?
