I believe the problem with knights and peasants is the presentation. What have the knights done to earn the respect of the populace through fame or infamy? When I say knights, I mean them as a whole.

Right now its a group of people with fancy titles. There's no long standing thing that makes people learn to respect them. The knightly orders are much younger then most player characters.

In retrospect, the Princes of Malinor have the respect of many, its very rare to have a citizen of Malinor actually disrespect a Prince (thats usually done by outsiders wishing to stir up something, Hood_Elf-#308 ect.). But this is mainly due to the work of the council is very much apparent in Malinor and our Council goes back to the beginnings of the server, long before most characters were even thought of.

Give it time and make some headway. Establish fame or infamy for the time being until you all have the time behind you.

PVP isn't the way to go. Losing items and dying does not phase real RPers. Killing a character makes them lose memory and they won't even remember why they were punished.

I'm not, its just another possible set of diamond armor to add to the collection when they come. Though they usually only come during odd hours to avoid the whupping from a fully staffed city.

Pretty sure they do the same with Holm, Menorcress, and others now too.

I concur with james that the reason people are not afraid of death in Asulon is that death is not actually death in the traditional sense. People fear death in the real world because it is the absolute end of everything they know. In Asulon, however, you ooc'ly know, and perhaps even ic'ly, that the monks with super healing powers that can cure any ill (bar a random plague) will save the day and magically resurrect you, the only side effect being you lose all of your stuff (except for the majority of your money) and you lose memory of the past in game day or two. Poor roleplayers do not fear death because it is actually not death, wherein their character would be gone forever (unless corruptly resurrected by necromancers :P).

I don't know how perma death works here. I know it can be forced in some situations. I'm sure something could be worked out.

I SAY THIS ALL THE TIME- FEAR HAS TO BE BROUGHT BACK- but this isn't the way to do it. what needs to happen is this, people need to learn your not special. you and your character feels fear. you have to react to it. My character, Jack_The_Terror, was created to bring fear to roleplay without pvp or any other notice. But every time I roleplay I /t "you should be affraid, this dude is scary" which they then say, "he fears no one" or "he fears only one" or "he isn't affraid of you" or "He is a hard ass mother f**ker" STOP BEING A BAD ROLEPLAYER- its all for fear, you do feel it, like pain. when your character gets stabbed, you can't say "he feels no pain bcuz he is soooo col and a rock monstaz" -_- think about it

I don't think it needs to be a group, or even be fueled by PvP. Have you ever seen the Perfectionist's (Geoboy66) Roleplay? He has a... Strange character, you could say. The way he roleplays this character, as in its quirkiness and oddness, is VERY frightening. I wish I could provide some, screenshots, but sadly, I have none.

Anyways, the solution to this is not PvP. It's genuine roleplay that will determine if the community will have fear.

You made good points but you don't seem to understand us. We weren't talking about farmers and peasants disrespecting Knights because they're Knights, we're just using that as an example for the problem where people stand up to and insult people that are armed and armoured when they have nothing themselves. It's the fact that they don't fear these people that makes it a problem. In real life, would you insult and disrespect someone with a gun? I doubt it(if you would, you are a badass). The reason we have this problem is because death means nothing in LOTC as long as you aren't rich(which your average unarmoured joe wouldn't be).

Obviously the original post must be edited for understanding that pvp will be avoided as much as possible

Remember to look at the original post. There is an edit that makes clear I hate pvp

Well, my character knows fear all too much. So much that she has begun to understand it, and use it.

If I die in RP, I will perma-kill. That is my rule.

I've killed both Flay and your character without armor on...

So -I- have little reason to be fearful.
