A Dwarfs Long Journey

Grimling rests next to a large tree, right by, well he has no real idea. He lays, as the crisp air blows on his beard, animals and mabye even elves or humans alike walk on the near by path, or even the woods. He has been here for over 4 hours, sleeping after his mid breakfast meal, which is right before his brunch, and right after his early morning breakfast. Grimling lay there, an ale bottle on the ground and him sleeping with half a cocoa-cake in his hands, peacefully and silent. He opens his eyes slowly, the woods filled with the snapping of twigs and the yells of animals, but Grimling has seen forests before, and they, as he learned, are not very fearsome. He slowly moves his body to his left side, and closes his eyes once again. only moments later he is startled awake by a noise, not a normal woodland noise, no- a human noise. Grimling has developed a nose for Ale, and he can smell it, strong yellow ale, the ones some humans, never dwarfs or elven, drink. He raises , making a twig or two break, but he can smell danger (and ale as I said) about. He reaches for his battle axe, leaned next t the tree, and holds it in a combat stance. A combat stance for Grimling, however, is him holding it pointed as what ever he intends to lob at, so he is not very easy on the "passive" note. He stays frozen, completely still, and for him that means shaking like an actual frozen dwarf.

Grimling is honorable, he would never fight anyone without a reason to, and he intends to not kill anyone without asking who they are. he pipes up with his deep dwarven voice "Who be thar? I wana know, before I swing me axe at ya' face..." For a moment nothing happens, no answer or anything. The birds stay silent, nothing makes a sound, not even the twigs which seem to break on themselves stop at the wicked echo of Grimling's voice. I was just about leave Grimling and look for someone else on an adventure when- "I'm harmless! we all are! don't hurt us! we won't do any to you!" It was a human, with their light little voices that seem to come out as a cry sometimes, and this one even more, it seemed a child, one of 17 or 18 years. Now Grimling has lived for over 70 years, and most of it done drinking, but if he learned anything about that it was from him great uncle Frongun Stoneknuckles, and it was "Ya neve' ever, EVER, give away ya position t' th' enemy." The irony was that Frongun was shot by an elf for being to loud in the forest that day. anyway, Grimling knew this was a trap, or the boy was really stupid, like most humans. "Who be ya'? why ya' snoopin' 'round me?" The voice, which Grimling still couldn't see, cam up again, but only for a moment "We're just watching- MUFF-UGH-UGH" The voice seemed to be muffled out. Grimling, as he normally does, panics, so he charged away, straight towards a tree line not to far away, his axe held high over his head. Now, Grimling is not stupid, but he did seem to zone out and get hit in the face somehow, and again he was asleep.

He lay there, tied and gagged, surrounded by elven mates, some cloaked, some carrying bows and arrows, some swords, some, Grimling looked at, were pretty elven ladys, not fit to be outside he thought. Then, next to him, was the young human that seemed to talk to him. Thanks to his long years of eating,, he quickly chewed through the gag, and whispered to the human "I'll ge' us out o' 'ere, Jus' need t' get out of this... restrained my arms they did!" He quickly attempted to chew through his roped hands, but they were actually behind his back, so he ended up looking mighty stupid. Grimling ran, or crawled, to the clossest tree, and began to rub the rope against it, not doing much though. One of the elven men, one of the cloaked ones, spoke up and said "So he IS the king? True hair to the dwarven throne?" another smirked "Ah, yes, he is.... don't you see the resemblance?" he said pointing to Grimling, who was rubbing his rope against the bark. He froze, as the elven men looked at him... he was going to be killed, he knew it, but luckily these elves must not get out much due to them saying "ah, I DO see it! and that one, the human, he is king Godfrey?" Grimling realized he must be crazy, how could he have not noticed- oh wait no, he's just stupid, that isn't king Godfrey, he's just some human.

Grimling slowly crawled behind the tree, towards his axe, which they left out nicely. he then began to cut him ropes on that, which was more affective. "Okay, kill the king then" one said, and a moment later a slice, a gag, and a body drop was heard by the boy. Grimling cut faster. As the elfs must have just been realizing their loss of a Dwarf, Grimling broke free, grabbed his battle axe and ran away, the same as last time (which got him captured) The elven men and women shouted as the dwarf made his way.... well away, from them. Grimling ran, and he ran fast, faster then the elfs it seems, they began to shoot arrows at him and slowly stop chasing him. finally, with Grimlings last breath, he slopped down, fast asleep due to his running... "Oh boy... I nee' a new way o' fightin'" he thought as he lay there, again the woods loud and moving. He slowly, his bones creaking, stood up.

He began his journey towards The dwarven kingdoms, His new life would be starting soon, and a new combat lance would be given.
