You sir have my most sincere approval, perhaps a section on births though might be added. Overall very well written guide. I play a character that is a doctor, and I can say that this guide ( though I know the majority of the contained information) is very useful, quite wonderful indeed. +1

Not sure if a birth section will be added, seeing as that may get too graphic for the server's ways. I'll have to ask a GM about that, as the server is usually touchy on those sorts of things.

OR

You can assume that not everyone is a master roleplayer. People learn at their own pace, not your pace. If their RP isn't good enough for you and you can't appreciate that they are trying to learn then you need to change your ways. I'm sorry if /that/ doesn't seem right to /you/

This was made to help people whom are having troubles with RP'ing such a thing, and also due to many people complaining. The guide and tutorial area is specifically meant to help people learn more, which is where this is in. I never said this was made to bash anyone, or to say that all people are bad RP'ers with medical RP. Not sure why you seem so hostile against a thread made to do what you state yourself in your own post.

I must apologize for taking so very long to reply, but here are my thoughts upon the matter. There is a way to role play births in such a way that they are not horribly graphic. Perhaps that would be the best course of action after such a discussion with a GM. Anyhow I still very much enjoy this guide. Keep up the good work.

As an orcish shaman that has occasionally dabbled in healing and even assisting in mid-wifing, it is nice to see a guide like this in the works. My only suggestion is that I hope to see it fleshed out and expanded upon over time, to give a full spectrum to various forms of medicine. I've been meaning to make a Witchdoctor/Shaman guide to healing one of these days and craotor did the Painboyz, so it would be nice to see a broad spectrum of the various races and their styles of healing, as well as the universal methods that everyone uses.

Having been involved in a few births in-game and two in real-life, I think a birthing section could be done in a way that is tasteful and not too graphic. Just sort've bob and weave around any words or parts of the procedure that get a little too graphic or pseudo-sexual. The orcs have done quite a few births and I never felt that any of them were in bad taste, except for maybe the one where there were 21 cubs, a bucket of placentas and bouts of projectile vomiting. Just cover the basics of the procedure as far as making the mother comfortable, cool water and clean linen and caring for the mother and child after birth.

Fortunately for us, the Skill System has been removed, which means we can get back to improving on healing role-play without all the posers. Lots of players may be interested in role-playing these things but just have little to no real-life knowledge of what to do. The important thing is that in-game medicine doesn't need to be entirely medically accurate, it just has to sort've make sense. We're not doctors but some of us play one on LOTC. This is off to a good start.

Also, be sure to add "Sucking Chest Wound" at some point down the road. I might spring one of those on someone if I can ever make it to a raid.

Thank you for the help on stitching. I was a bit lost there and so when I fixed up a leg recently, I didnt stitch it and just tightly wrapped it in a bandage for the skin and muscle to heal over time. The recovery time would be much less had I stitched it though, thanks again :D

When using bandages to help stop bleeding- on wounds that require urgent care- I always douse the bandage in a salve designed to hamper bleeding through promoting clotting or in serious cases chemically "singeing" the blood vessels.

Another thing that could be very helpful to some people:

Vitamin K clots the blood, and is found in very common foods like lettuce, onions, collard greens, and more. If your patient is beginning to bleed out, give him plants rich in Vitamin K to slow down blood flow.

That's super helpful thank you for telling me that
