Wiki, Wiki Everywhere!

Hey everyone. :)

Recently there have been various complaints about the wiki from various members of the community, including a few staff members and myself. These mainly include the fact that many pages are out of date, others are missing tons of information, and some don't have any information at all.

Unfortunately, many people think that there is a "Wiki Team" to be blamed for this, as it is their job to keep it up to date. However, not only do we not have a Wiki Team, but even if we did, it is the job of the community as a whole to keep it up to date.

For this reason, Everblue created a fantastic guide that has everything you'd ever need to know about the Wiki, from how to register to how to create pages! It can be found here:

Keep in mind that you don't need to know everything there is to know about the subject a page discusses to edit it. If you see bad grammar, spelling mistakes, or something very small that is incorrect, feel free to change it! You might also consider adding your own character(s) to the Character Pages section of the Wiki, or maybe adding some of your own works to the Art, Literature and Music section.

There is much to be said and done with the Wiki, so we hope to see some nice things happen with it. That can't happen without the participation of the player base, however, so please register!

Ok, the only problem I have with the wiki is the outdated command skills. That's all. The lore of things should be obtained in game, so the player won't get most knowledge from the wiki.

Lore = In-game

Game Mechanics, Items, Potions, and Commands = Wiki, since it's considered OOC to even talk about these without their lore "names" or commands.

Lore is, in fact, not in game. The lore on the Wiki is what all new players read to get caught up on what their character should know, and it is what applicants read so they actually know what they are talking about when writing their applications. You say that players shouldn't get knowledge like that from the Wiki, but that's kind of the whole point. If any of the information was missing or out of date, it would cause those players to learn incorrect or outdated information that could potentially lead to metagaming, out of character differences, you name it. The Lore on the Wiki NEEDS to be up kept.

It's not just new players either, the lore on the Wiki is a valuable source that even veteran players can refer to. If you think that lore should remain in-game, then we may as well completely remove the Your Ideas and Lore section, as it would be useless. That also brings up the point that lore remaining in game only doesn't make sense, seeing as the whole concept of lore involves it being out of character. For instance, OOC my character's biography is his "lore", while IC his biography is his history. I wouldn't go up to you in real life and say "Hey, what's your family's lore?", as you would just look at me like an idiot.

The lore is probably the most important part about the Wiki, so there shouldn't be a problem with it at all.
