Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: It is when I act the role of another person, and behave like them, act like them and live like them. When I roleplay, I act very differently to how I do in real life.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is when a player uses information that they had gained, from sources other than the charater that they are playing as in an RP game or server, to help them beat certain aspects of the game. An example of this is when a player searches how much health a mob has, what it drops, where it is found and how to kill it the fastest. This ruins the point of RP, which is playing uniquely as your character, without him suddenly learning things out of thin air. This is frowned upon by a great majority of RP players. Another great example of meta-gaming is when a player in a greek/rome themed server meets a dragon, they know it will have lots of gold, or when they meet a sphinx, they know it will ask them a question to allow the to pass. None of those things would be known by the character the player is acting as, but the player knows this.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power emoting is when people type things in that limit or remove the freedom of other players in a roleplay game. Examples of this is someone typing: "John effortlessly broke into Bob's house and robed him of all his truly precious items". This sentence removes any suggestion that Bob had any choice or ability to protect his house and prevent John from robbing it, removing freedom of choice and, therefor, removing what makes RPGs RPG.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Lorien Brave

Character Race: Human

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Lorien Brave was brought up in a farm near a city ruled by the Holy Oren Empire. His mother having died a long time ago by evil creatures of the dark (creepers) and his father in prison for stealing a loaf of bread, Lorien brought himself up after his fathers imprisonment. The only thing Lorien belived in then was kindness, for he had gained so much from it, and had vowed to repay it to anyone worthy of it.

One fine morning, Lorien set out to plough his fields, when he chanced upon an odd, purple stone lieing on the ground, half embeded into the dirt, half floating in mid air. Perplexed, he picked it up, and put it in his pocket. Surely one of the many books he had traded for bread would tell him something about it. Lorien continued along his path and, after a long hard dayy of ploughing, went into his study and pulled out a book named "Teachings". A thick and heavy book, Lorien struggled to put it on the table, void of his usual strength after the ploughing. He opened the book and went to the index.

Lorien woke up, lying on his table. He had his hand in his pocket and he kept it there for a while, until he realised that the odd stone wasn't there anymore. Lorien frowend, and picked up the Heavy book. He hadn't found anything about purple stones in that book, so he shoved it into the bookshelf and went to his crafting table. Taking a bunch of wheat out, he crafted 64 loaves of bread and headed to the market. He was nearly at the market when he heard a huge explosion, and he turned around. There was his house, burning.

Rushing into his house to salvage what great books and items he could, Lorien started to panick. He had only seen and heard an explosion like that one time before hand, and it was when his mother was killed, right infront of him, by tha horrid, green demon. Had the creature thought he was home? Had he intended to kill Lorien? Lorien knew not, but he had nothing left in the city, and his father was still jailed, so he went to the jail, said his farewells to his father, and took the first road he saw, hoping it would lead him to a new haven...

What are your characters ambitions?: He wants to help those he deems worthy of his help. He enjoys knowing and finds power in knowlage. His philosophy is that the pen is mightier than the sword. He is skilled at using the bow and arrow, and had signed up to be a mercenary, meaning he had good sword fighting skills.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is around six foot two, and has blond hair and blue eyes. He can be nasty, but only when he looses his cool.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? Lorien looks at the shopkeeper and walks up to him. "Greetings keeper! What have you got for sale?" he asks. The dwarf glances up and says "Nothing but the finest ores one can dig!". "Aye? Well then, what is your price for diamonds and obsidian, for I wish to make a table for binding" asks Lorien. "My price is nothing, exept for your help when I am in need." replies the dwarf. "If you are in need, and I am near enough to help, I am yours!" says Lorien, taking the diamonds and obsidian.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? Lorien recognises the dwarf as the shopkeeper he had made a promise to. "Dwarf, what are you doing crossing arms with a mighty orc at this time of the night?" asks Lorien. "Your help is needed sir, explain to this orc that my ores are not from his land!" pleads the dwarf. "I shall! Orc, please calm down, what do you want of this dwarf?" asks Lorien. "I want kill him! He mine in my territory! I WANT KILL!" screams the orc, driving himself into a frenzy before swinging his axe towards the dwarf. Lorien draws out his iron sword and blocks the blow, saving the life of the dwarf. "RUN!" Lorien shouted to the dwarf, and the dwarf didn't argue, running to get help. "Orc, face me in fair battle and walk away alive, or face me in an unjust manner and meet the bad end of my blade!" threatened Lorien. "Hmph, orc NO SURRENDER!" shouted the orc, raising his axe to throw at Lorien. Before the orc could do anything, several arrow heads protruded from its chest. It stood there, perplexed, then died.

The guards who had shot the arrows thanked the dwarf, and called for someone to clean up the 'mess' made. Lorien walked up to the orc, saddened, and closed its eyes, saying "Surrender is never futile" before leaving the city and following another random path.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Lorien bends down and helps the man up to his feet. "Wise man, are you ok?" hes asks. "Son, I am fine, but my back now hurts, please pick my coins up" asked the man. Lorien bends down to pick up the coins and, whilst doing so, gets kicked in the back. "Hahaha, you will die for my brother's death!" shouts the orc behind the mask of the old man. " Foolish of you to say that orc, when you have not a club nor bow to kill me with!" shouts back Lorien. "Foolish of you to assume someone needs a bow or club when they are as gifted as I!" roars the orc, before throwing a blazing fireball at Lorien. "How do you command such forces orc?!" asks Lorien, whilst dodging the clumsy fireball with ease, "beacause you certainly don't remember how!" he taunts. "RAAAHH!" screams the orc, shooting a flurry of fire at our hero, still missing. "Haha, orc, do not shame yourself! Now, my turn!!" Lorien shouts, before drawing back his bow and promtly shooting the orc. "Easy.." says Lorien, smiling. As Lorien leaves the scene (after allerting the guards about the body) he overhears some people talking about a guild of wise mages, and how that orc was kicked out of the college for trying to use his power for evil purposes. *What if I were to join the guild?* thinks Lorien, as he chooses yet another path to take on his almost never-ending journey...

This is really a great app, but the metagaming definition is off. Read a guide on the wiki, google it, that's all fine, don't plagiarize though. You've got 24 hours to make this change and I'll accept you.

For any other App Team: if said change is made withing 24 hours of this post, feel free to accept him.

I feel the appropriate changes were made and the meta-gaming definition is adequate, welcome to Asulon.
