Clarification On Harassment.

I have to agree somewhat with Akorta.

If you get bullied, harassed, man up really. I know things like the Dusk situation get out of hand but, you really can't do much about it.

It's the internet, people will be ass hats, like they will irl but, in irl you can what? Report them for police if they go around calling you names and trash-talking you? Chances are, they will tell you to just ignore them. Only when it gets physical does it get out of hand.

It's not LotC's responsibility to get involved with stuff like that. If they do then they're almost trying to act like internet police, which doesn't work because they hold no authority over anything other than LotC. Sure, you can ban them, but it won't stop them. Just look at Paulie. All you can i ban, ban and ban again. It makes no difference what so ever.

If they want to do it so badly, they'll carry on regardless of what medium they use.

Bullys/those who harass people just want attention. Something you're taught as a child who gets bullied, the best thing to do is ignore them. They can be punished as much as you like, but if they're so immature to do it in the first place - that won't stop them.

Bully-preventions is something I would usually support. I've seen the back end of bullying for all my childhood up until I left college aged 18 so I know how bad it can get, it doesn't mean I support LotC trying to take authority in its own hands.

He isn't telling us what we can and can't do outside the server, he is simply saying that if we are found to be harassing someone in a hurtful way then there will be repercussions whether it be harassment inside of LotC or in a different server if the staff catches wind then it could be bad new for you.

No, I'm sorry, just no. There's absolutely no reason why we should be punished for something we do somewhere else... Unless, it in someway affects LotC, such as a group of LotC'ers go out bullying and another servers community and referencing it back to LotC. What we do outside of the server is our own business, if we go out and get into trouble on another server, then that's the problem of that server.

I dont get it. so your telling me that if i went on a server like mcpvp, made some jokes about a noob that cant pvp, you would ban me here? That most definitely is not what I expected from this server. that has nothing to do with you and who would track me here? people casually track people where they go on whats server because they picked on them? i don't believe so.

I don't know exactly what Alan means by this punishment but I feel like you guys are taking it way out of proportion. I am almost certain that calling someone a "Noob" would not get you in the least bit of trouble here. I think he means serious cases like extreme bullying and trolling that can cause huge problems and make its way to LotC. We don't want our server to look bad to the outside world.

Liri as I said, this isn't anything new, so you should have been aware of this. We are not acting as internet police, nor are we trying to prevent this from occurring because there is no way that we can prevent it as you said. However, and I repeat myself, the sort of people who would willingly do this do NOT need to be here. You and Akorta see it as us moderating people for doing things that aren't in our bounds, but we see it as dealing with malicious people who do not hold a place in a community such as our own. If you want to be around people who are cyber-bullies and harass others, that is your choice, but our choice is that we do not want these people in our community. Agree or disagree, but this is the rule and it has been justified. If you want to debate it further, feel free to PM me or another staff member, as this is not the place to discuss it.

Cyber-bullying is not simply calling someone a noob, it involves potentially permanently harming someone mentally, and it CAN be traced back to LotC if it is serious enough. This rule applies to EXTREME cases, not merely annoying someone and getting on their nerves. As was said, do not blow this out of proportion.

If you are harassing people outside of LOTC that you originally met on Lotc and are harassing them for things that transpired on LOTC then you should think twice about wanting to play on this server. We aren't condemning you all. We are asking you to show a little bit of respect for past players. And if the subject as cyber bullying is being looked at like this how some of you are trying to find loop holes around and not fully understanding or twist what we are saying then yes, by all means take your attitude elsewhere we will not condone that behavior here.

This 'not being something new' is something I have only just heard of and, I'm sorry, but you're coming across as somebody or some medium that sounds like they're aspiring to control everything everybody does whether it be in or out of LotC.

Perhaps you worded it wrongly but, I am not the only one who thinks this.

A server like Mcpvp allows cyb3ring so why would we get in trouble here for doing it? we arent rule breakers. we dont do it here, we do it where its allowed. and bringing american rules and their liberal views into a server that has many from the UK and Australia is stupid. I think you should moniter here and only here unless some idiots go out saying "hey your a *** because you dont play Lotc! we are better than you. you dork. go get an Fing life!" if thats what was said and it directs people here, feel free to ban/strike them but please dont stalk people onto servers you dont control at all and when it isnt a problem here.

Now some of you are taking it completely out of context. No point of keeping this open if you all are going to go about it this way. We arent talking about Cyber-ing we are talking about Cyber bullying and how we are simply REMINDING you that we here do not condone this type of behavior. Cyber bullying past players and harassing them is frowned upon here.
