History

Mirtok was born into a world plagued by Undead and Banditry. His normal childhood was cut short when everything he knew went up in flames in a series of attacks on his desolate village. Narrowly escaping a fiery death or eternal servitude under Undead masters Mirtok left his home lands behind in search for greener pastures. Through his long travels he learned a number of skills that allowed him to survive but also had a toll of his growing young mind. He spent most of his life alone until he happened upon a band of traveling merchants bound for Al'Kazaar, he hitched a ride and found himself again in the middle of a struggle with the Undead. He quickly was drafted in a knights army dedicated to ridding the world of the Undead and learned military techniques that he later built upon. However his time among his new comrades came to an end when the Undead overtook his fort and cast him out, once again alone and directionless.

A short time later a former lieutenant of his, Gaius Marius, invited him to join his own reformed Order of men. Since that day on Mirtok has been in that Order forged so long ago, rising the ranks each decade. He fought glorious and heroic wars but also bloody and gruesome ones. His leader Gaius remained a shining beacon of righteousness and hope that kept Mirtok on the right path of honor and chivalry. The Teutonic Order eventually became a hardened force capable of mass devastation among the evil community. But as their power grew so did the man's ego and desire for more, Mirtok tried to resist such temptations that would lead him away from ultimate dedication and loyalty, but every so often he took for himself, allowing the seed wrong to root itself in his heart.

Towards the death of his leader and the rise of his best friend Sam, the Order and even the nation they forged fell on hard times. The opposing human nation of Renatus launched fierce and relentless attacks on the struggling nation of Hanseti, weakening the moral of Mirtok and his men. The cruelty the Renatus leaders showed to Mirtok gave water to the seed of evil that wished to grow inside him. He no longer saw others as people but mere numbers, he became harsh even to his own brothers in arms and even allowed the barbaric killings of others on the field of battle. He nearly lost sight of himself as the temptation took over, but he banished himself to a snowy mountain and committed himself years of mining and gathering. After close to 12 years had past he returned to his Order bearing a massive supply of material that gave his men a edge during combat.

Mirtok had grown passive and more prone towards talk than fighting to solve conflicts. However his fellow soldiers became barbaric and blood thirsty, often calling Mirtok “soft” for his alternate method of finding a solution. Mirtok couldn’t help but feel that Sam had failed him and his people, driving the desire take the lead for himself so that he may steer the nation on the path towards its former glory. But Sam was assassinated before he could fully insight a civil war, making him the new Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order and the king of Hanseti.

Now Mirtok is the ruler of Hanseti and acts accordingly. He is a survivor of the old ways the Order used to follow and a link to Gaius, as he stood by him since day one. However not long after he was made Hochmeister Mirtok suffered an accident that transformed him both mentally and physically. His flesh and muscle became bound to his armor through an ancient form of necromancy. The only portion of his body spared from fusion was his head but it too was transformed. His flesh had been burned and peeled away rendering him a ghoul, however, his eyes were the only remaining link to his past appearance. After his accident, Mirtok became less compassionate for his fellow beings, only caring for his own men and their benefits. He became more daring and less cautious but maintained his speaking prowess. Mirtok died but a new Hochmeister rose in his tattered remains, one that shows no fear, no remorse, and no mercy.

He continued on that path for a many years following the event, partaking in many wars and even being involved in a World War against the majority of Asulon. He tried his best to keep his nation intact but through countless lighting skirmishes conducted by the growing Renatian Empire, Mirtok laid down his kingship to the lands of Hanseti and contributed to the formation of the Oren Empire. Under Godfrey his power had be strengthened and his purpose restored. He quickly became an ultranationalist to Godfrey and a zealot progressor of his goals. He has since regain his Kingship and his Order has seen a drastic increase in stability and strength.

Much later into the rise of the Holy Oren Empire, Mirtok gained strong political and militaristic footholds within the Empire. Obtaining titles such as King, Hochmeister, Grand Marshall, and the Emperor’s Champion; As well as affirming the role of the Teutonic Order as a leading military power both in and out of the Empires regions of influence. He had an abundance of resources at his disposal, tools of war and progression. It was with these tools that Mirtok, along with his Sariants, were able to survive after the Cloud Calamity that struck Hanseti with a deadly poisonous gas. The cloud persisted for several years after the intial invasion, brought on by his own hands at the various dig sites along the Eastern Peaks of Hanseti. He had found what he had been searching for but in return, he lost his very Motherland and source of his Goddess’ radiance. Using what had been stockpiled from the Emperor’s supply lines, Mirtok had a variety of technologies created to help his soldiers move about the lost lands of Hanseti, eventually resulting in a number of things. Eventually the Cloud became little issue to the Sariants and they were able to once more reach the Emperor during a time of heavy international stress. Mirtok had to complete the project the Emperor tasked him with, putting an end to the opposition and confirming the Horen name forever rules from the throne. With that, Mirtok launched a large scale research program that was hosted out of the cold halls of Fickloch. There he had people captured and experimented on, and when their use was over he had their bodies repurposed to feed his pipe dream of a doomsday device.

Though, the events of Oren subsided and the only thing that began to threaten the Empire were the occasional peasant uprising. Mirtok faded from the limelight of Asulon’s happenings, tending to his own inter Order rebellion with half his forces splitting off and betraying the brothers who were left under Mirtok’s command. He quickly and personally visited each of the traitors and killed them without mercy. At the side of his brother, Lion, the rebels fell and the Order remained the surviving faction. Though security has a price. The Order slowly began to pitter out, with members slowly losing interest and recruitment at an all time low. The lack of war, battle and conflict took its toll on the Order but Mirtok tried to rise above it. He used the down time to rip and claw his way up, giving life to his Order and strength to his men. After a short lived but large rebellion attempt brought on by the mages and men of the west sectors of Oren, Mirtok’s recruitment numbers soared and the Order once more had itself a purpose to fulfill. All that has happened in his life has only furthered the strong and ruthless nature that Mirtok has come to adopt, and in a world as unstable as Asulon, the death toll will continue to rise as the Order marches on with Mirtok at the helm.
