About Power-Emoting And Roleplay-Fighting...

I have a question about power-emoting and roleplay fighting. For the sake of this discussion, lets assume that my character is Bob and the other character is Joe. Bob and Joe are in a fist fight.

I am wondering if the following emote is power-emoting: *Bob moves his fists toward Joes groin with speed.

Let me explain my hesitation towards this. If Joe moves his hands to protect himself, Bobs fists would hit Joes hands, probably breaking to bones. this would result in Bob winning the fist fight because joe wouldnt be able to use his hands anymore. On the other hand, if Joe doesnt move his hands in time, lets just say he is history.

My problem is now clear: There is no way to stop Bob from getting a clear advantage.

      Someone please answer this...

You can RP doing that, but you CAN'T say that, for instance, "Joe's hand is broken as a result." Or like, "Joe isn't quick enough so he is hit." Joe would need to say that.

If someone is going to punch your crotch with so much force as you described you should kick or punch them in the face. You do not always have to block an attack to win a fight.

Joe sharply side steps to the right; his body twisting to the right as well so only his side was facing towards Bob. At the same time he brings his left hand underhandly below Bob's groin shot; at the same time he brings his right hand downwards towards Bob's elbow area hoping to lock the incoming blow into his grip; and then begin to force it backwards.

There's an answer that made your groin shot a very bad idea ;P Power emoting is when you FORCE an action on a character; NOT when you leave them with very few options. In this case you are throwing a blow towards a character and if the character cannot respond in time or is busy with their hands elsewhere (IE: THey are blocking high) then they can only dodge; or as JOe did move their hands out of the way.

Your emote is fine; lacks detail but is fine.

There are many ways for someone to defend against a punch, so ye, you can't control the other character, you can only attack and state what you would try to do if it connected.

Powergaming - Forcing actions upon another character.

So, if you only throw the punch and it doesn't hit until the other player emotes, you're fine! :)

Bad Example: Bob punches Joe's groin with speed.

Good Example: Bob brings his arm back before throwing a punch towards Joe's groin with evident speed.

This was a real problem and it did happen... My character was on the ground at the time with an orc towering over him... what else could he do besides try to bite his feet?

I understand i cannot force an action. As for dodging, you would have to have VERY fat reflexes...
