[Halfling Perspective] The Battle Of Merrywater

The day had been rather pleasant; an altogether warm morning with a breeze that cooled the skin of that Halflings that felt it. Farms were tended to, drinks were had in the local tavern, and all was well on the small island of Merrywater. No Hobbit could argue that the day was not peaceful, quiet, and altogether lovely. That would, by nightfall, change for the worst.

Elder Bili Hollowmead, fishing on the old dock that evening, became alarmed as he smelt a smell that had not been smelled for ages in the Halfling community; a band of Orcs! Just in that moment, he spotted a great ship in the 'more-near-than-it-should-be' distance, bustling with Orcs, and headed straight towards Merrywater. It was in this time that Bili ran towards the town, shouting "ORCS! ORCS!", as the fiery darts of the enemy whizzed past him.

At this, terror began to grow immediately within Merrywater. Shovels were grabbed, torches were lit, and almost instantly Orcs were within the inner limits of the town grabbing Halflings and tying them up, much to the prisoners' dislikings. A few of the Hobbitfolk, the more bold ones, resisted and in turn were killed by the oncoming band of Orcs. By fate or chance, the esteemed Sheriff Lobo Underhill was able to escape from bondage and flee from the island. During all of this, the Orcs had begun a great bonfire in the middle of the town. Its flames rose higher and higher as the violence wore on.

A few Halflings, namely Dofur Riverfoam and Bili Hollowmead were nearly tossed into the flames. The screams of pain they felt as their hands were nailed into planks of wood just added to the discouragement and despair that the remaining Halflings felt. Fires had licked at their precious homes, and roared through the island's farms. A few unlucky Hobbitfolk who had been hiding in the farms were either burnt to crisps or caught and put in bondage with their fellow countrymen. More Halflings were killed, either by sword, fist, axe, or flame, and all hope of survival was beginning to fail, until the sounds of trumpets and horns rang from the outer edges of Merrywater. Help had arrived! Sheriff Lobo, the Hobbit who had escaped the imprisonment of the Orcs, had climbed onto a boat and rowed speedily to the Dwarven Islands to rally them, and another lucky Halfling had managed to contact the Humans of Oren. With the armies these two nations mustered, nearly two-thousand strong, the Orcs were drawn back and all of the remaining Halflings escaped from their captors.

Though few Halflings remeained to fight in the battle, those who did quickly left the danger and escaped the awful carnage. One such survivor was Theodoric the Brave, who managed to slay one of the foul Orcs. Another was Sheriff Lobo Underhill, who is known for his valiance in skirmishes.

As the night failed and morning inevitably came, the Dwarves and Humans battled the great Orcish army, and were soon crushed by the Warnation's might, under its Rex, Vrogak'Gorkil, and two mighty clan leaders, Pok'Ugluk and Moksha'Lur. The Orcs, outnumber by nearly one-thousand, defied all odds and defeated the Dwarf and human armies, in the terrible fight known as The Battle of Merrywater. It is known in history as a great upset to the Halfling people, and has resparked their fear of the Warnation. It marks the beginning of their pilgramage to the new lands of Anthos.

Conclusion:

The town of Merrywater stands in flames. Burrows are pillaged, windows broken, and the tavern is a mess of black char. The farms are roaring in flames, and in the midst of it all, bodies of Dwarves, Humans, and the occasional Halfling lay. An Orcish flag of victory is raised up in the center of the ruined town. This marks The Battle of Merrywater, a kindling of hope and victory for Orcs, and an event of terror and loss for the others involved.

(( Several people were not mentioned; this was made in a viewpoint from the WHOLE race, not just Bili. As a personal thing though, thanks for trying to save him! ))

((This isn't a popularity story, me and White_Moose did plenty ourselves and we aren't in it. Just know we probably didn't even see you OOCly or Rply like we did Lobo (Ben) coming to our aid ))
