((Ooc)) Ideas For Orcs

NOTE: This is for Orcs to leave their comments on how they feel on our particular situation as far as popularity as a race goes. If you are not an Orc and do not have something CONSTRUCTIVE to say, don't say anything. If you're not an Orc and say something negative against the Orcs, I will ask you to please snip your post or get a staff member to deal with it. This goes for Orcs, too. I really don't care if you say "This is stupid" or "What's this supposed to be?" in a rude manner, i'm just going to ignore you, because I frankly don't care if you have something negative to say (Not to say don't post if you have constructive critisism or are confused as to what this post is aimed at, just try not to sound rude).

So, i've been for a while Orcs aren't the most popular race on LotC and i'm curious as to why... I think we have all of 3 or 4 Feuruks who aren't whitewash, and (as far as I see) roughly 8-9 actually active members. I've been thinking what makes races more appealing than Orcs, and have come up with a few ideas... Here are my ideas on what we should try changing.

-Orcish Orginizations (Guilds, military orginization, etc. Other than Clans)

-Trade

-Religion

-The Blah (THIS IS NOT ME SAYING TO CHANGE IT!! I'm saying we should brainstorm ideas on how to make it seem less intimidating while keeping it the way it is)

-Shamans

-Activeness

-Orcish Personalities

Basicly, i'm trying to think of ways we can change some of these things in order to make our race more appealing. That's NOT saying we make our race more like the other races, quite the opposite actually. Now I have like five minutes left in lunch so I can't really go into depth about my idea, but I wanted to post this so other Orcs can talk and discuss how to make our race more popular/appealing.  I'll get more in depth when I get a chance.

-Edited-

Alright, back home so I can go more in depth into this...

So, the Krughai is awsome to have back. One other thing I think we should add is some Shaman's order, somewhat like the Druid's order (Except only for Orcs, obviously, and special cases like Lex'Lur). This would make it a lot easier for people who want to be shamans to actually be able to get into contact IG without a whole lot of hassle. I also think we should have some other organizations other than just fighting. For example, perhaps we have some Orcish Fisher's Guild, or a guild for Orcish Farmers who contribute to the Orcish lands as a whole, a guild for miners. You get the idea. I feel that a lot of Orcish personalities are waaay too cookie cutter, but i'll get more in depth with this as I go on.

I don't know if minas still hold little value in Orcish culture, but regardless, i'll explain my idea.

Minas holding value: Simple shops for food, ores, etc. Just run of the mill stuff.

Minas still hold no value: I feel there should be some manner of economy within the Uzg, while still holding true to their "We all take care of each other" type of deal. Doing this, we could give shops the option to give away their wares for free to those who NEED them, or we could institute some manner of bartering system. For example, say I need some iron ore. I go up to a shop that sells iron ore, and show them things I have to trade for iron. I trade them my bread for their iron. (Depending on what the shop owner wants is what you'll need to trade, there's no set "You trade X for Y" or anything like that)

I feel like we don't really respect Shamans or the Spirits as much as Orcs should, considering they're a huge part of our culture. We're more "Killing is our god!" (At least from what I have seen). We should have temples or such to Krug, the Spirits, or perhaps some manner of Grove/oasis in honor of the Spirits. We need to have some base of religion/be more respecting towards them.

The Blah is not that difficult (to most of you), but a lot of people who may want to play as an Orc may be scared off by the complexity of our language. Somehow I feel we should make this less intimidating.

I'm not suggesting changing the Blah, or have the Blah be optional, knowing none of the Orcs would want it (Neither would I ;) ).

There are hardly any Shamans (Active or alive, at least) in the Uzg. I'm not sure why this is... Shamans shouldn't be everywhere or an incredibly common sight to see 5 or 8 Orc Shamans walking around the city, but there should be more than there are new. We should consider, as stated above, some manner of a Shaman's Order, to make it so we are organized, we are able to train new shamans who want to be shamans without taking days to find one without metagamming, have a clear higherarchy (My spelling is horrid, i'm aware), and to establish a clear and firm religious base for the Orcs.

We seem to have a huge problem as far as activness goes with the Orcs... We seem to have 3 types of  people who play Orcs: Hard Core Orc players who only play Orcs, People who will normally play Orcs the majority of the time they're on LotC but have some other race characters, and people who will go on their Orc once in a blue moon. The first two are fine, but I feel we really need to get more people to be on the Orcs, somehow make them want to stay on.

Orcish personalities are rather cookie cutter... You're violent, you wear armor all the time, you get pissed, you eat, you mate, you eat more, you kill stuff, etc... I feel that's the majority of Orcs I have seen (Not to say that these types of Orcs are bad, there just should be some variety). I feel like we should have some Orcs, like Goblins, who aren't as strong as other Orcs, who can't really fight as well as their Brother and would be more of a burden in the battlefield, and would be better suited to be some manner of healer, or farmer, etc. Now, these Orcs would still be violent, there's no way to get around that considering Iblees' curse upon the Orcs. However, this would still add some variety to the Orc's personality, instead of the cliche where once you make an Orc, they MUST be a Warrior specificly.

Just my two cents. Post what you think!

I'm working on an actual Orcish religion that we can follow if you guys are willing.  I'm not too fond of the "only Krug" idealism.

Bring back Krughaai, and reverse the goverment to a more federal type (2 levels of goverment Level 1: Wargoths Level 2: Rex

Also bring back the Krughaai so we can give more RP for new orcs, and let them have something to work towards.

Also we have no FeOrcs because quite frankly, orcs don't appeal to most females and because of our history some females believe they will just be like some sort of sex slave, which is untrue of course.

(( I think some well-made videos with humor here and there, could help show why the Orcs are fun to play and such a great addition to the server ;]))

I've already brought back the Krughai with Mingpow as the Targoth.

But yes these are things ill be working on with the wargoths and our gm.

I like the idea of a religion Brevias. I hope you continue to develop that. We recently had an opinions thread, though this is helpful, too many ooc threads, not enough rp ones.

It was a good read, i like your thought on the guilds and such. Also i feel like the Orcs should have a strong and very unique religion, nothing like the ways humans, elfs etc. worship.

My plan was to have a Pantheon of Spirits.  Contrary to the name, some of them won't be Spirits at all, but otherworldy entities that claim to be God's ect.

Alright i will address the female matter.

Basically and everybody can mostly agree, the female species "often" appears to be a fragile, elegant and very beautiful.

Here's an example; A common tale about the princess and the brave knight were as the brave knight saves the helpless and beautiful princess who is trapped in the tower.

Everybody knows the story.

And this is the problem for us, there's a generic template that tells us that females are supposed to be fragile and vulnerable and that this "brave knight" needs to save us.

If this was an orcish tale it would be more of a X/Y was a brave warrior that saved X/Y from the great beast, as were the knight could be either female or male it doesn't matter.

Everyone wants to be appreciated and as a female when someone tells you that you are beautiful it makes you feel good, no question about that and it goes both ways of course.

This applies in lotc as well, a human female is treated well and same goes for the elves.

As for the orcs tho that is not the case, a female orc is just as strong and equal as a male and are not treated better just because she is a female(even tho sometimes *cough*).

Might this be a problem as to why we have so few females?

I would also like to talk a little bit about the spirituality and intelligence of the orc race.

Orcs..are not even close to be stupid.

In fact the orcish race in general are wise beyond the average human yet we are treated and we play like we cant even remember what we ate this morning, it is almost like we are some kind of ogre who lives under a bridge. This has to change.

We aren't (excuse me) dumbfucks.

I don't know what this originates from and what made the community give orcs the "retard" stamp but it is something that we need to focus work on.

And that brings me to the next subject

Shamans

I remember back in aegis when there were a lot of shamans and the were also a lot of activity and events that were based around shamanism. They had their own place and and other sorts of facilities that related to shamanism.

We HAVE to raise the standards here, shamans need to show themselves more and be a lot more active in the daily RP that we orcs have and not just pop up for events or wars.

Those who are inactive, get them active or simply remove them. Might seem harsh but if you have an important role then tend to it.

For me to be a shaman does not mean you will be spending your time casting lightning and fire, but rather having shamans to be a center for orcish RP were spirits, religion and orcish beliefs becomes more important than it currently is.

Activeness

As a former mori i am not a stranger to having a group of the same people to RP with on a daily basis.

While it would be fun to have more orcish players we cannot lock ourselves on just that goal, when you have a steady flow of the same players then it opens up a lot of role-play opportunities. To thrive then we must not only be good ICly but also OOCly, and communicate, discuss and plan things!

One more thing...Ranks and such in my opinion should not only be rewarded by who someone is and the RP but also the activity. You don't try to take a leadership role if you are never on or rarely can be on when the majority is...

Use teamspeak in a better way.

I might add more later on but this is all for now. Sorry for any grammatical errors!

Nice post Pillan. But heres my view on the female orc topic. There are not that many and most of our players swamp a female orc whenever they get the chance to meet one. They can't keep their pants on and try to mate with them the first chance they get. ffs...Mabey new female orcs don't like this? Just what I've seen from this, though.

While it is only natural maybe we can include a part about mating in the orcish app?

After all mating is a big part of orcish culture but it's definitely is something that we as orcs need to work with!

I basically established myself by anyone who tried to mate with me I threatened to cut their tool off.

Reminds me of Deco, she removed Vuugush's man-parts her first day back with the orcs. :D
