A Declaration From The Dwarves

A dwarven messenger makes his way through the foliage of the Malinor forest, a large scroll gripped in one hand and a simple battle axe in the other. As he reaches the centre of the forest, he attempts to call for the attention of any elves gathered nearby, declaring he be brought before the council of Malinor. Bearing the seal of the Kingdom of Urguan, he hands the scroll to one of the Princes and steps aside, his face still red from the long journey.

To whomever this concerns upon the Council of the Holy Princedom of Malinor.

It is with some distress and a heavy heart that I must write this letter to you as it brings a great burden upon my mind. I of course must bring word of the events that have transpired within the Kingdom of Urguan these pasing moons. For the duration of our time spent in Asulon, it was with nothing but the best intentions that we, the dwarves, once sought relations with your council. Yet in recent years, we have been shown only an abundance of action towards our requests. Action that would have potentially averted the course that we have now set ourselves upon. I do of course refer to apparent deterioration of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Urguan and the Princedom to which you serve.

Pestilence and corruption have risen amongst the upper echelons of Malinor society, thwarting the progress we had once made towards peace. It was only within the last year that members of your council were found guilty of an attempted breach upon the embargo we have long held against the uruk war nation. A nation that has caused us much strife, through the murder and butchery of our kin. Alongside this, crimes committed by the Princedom of Malinor include but are not limited to the following:

- Attempts to slay members of the dwarven race.

- Attempts to withhold a dwarven artifact from its rightful owners.

- Attempts to plot against the Kingdom of Urguan with our allies, the Holy Oren Empire.

- Attempts to assist a barbarian and savage race against the civilized nations of the world.

- Attempts to trade and supply said race, and in doing so, bypass an embargo set upon the Uruk War Uzg.

I had long hoped that we would never see a day where war would ensue between our two races. Yet unfortunately, that day has now come to an end. Failures have been made and in the best interests of our Kingdom's security and prosperity, I must inform you of what these reckless acts have now attributed towards.

By order of King Omithiel Strongbrow and the Lord's Council of the Kingdom of Urguan, the Holy Princedom of Malinor has henceforth been deemed a tyrant nation and a threat to all civilised beings of the world. This was demonstrated by their acts in pursuing war upon the Kingdom of Urguan through collaboration with the Uruk War Uzg and The Holy Oren Empire, for which the latter refused action. In response to this threat upon the Kingdom's immediate territories, the Kingdom of Urguan hereby declares a state of open warfare upon the council of the Holy Princedom of Malinor and any who stand loyal to them.

Lay down your arms and bare the responsibilities for the crimes to which you are accused and in doing so, tread the path towards the establishment of a new council of Malinor that serves in line with the wishes of the Malinor Reform Movement. The selection of a High Prince or Princess must be put down to both the Kingdom of Urguan and the Holy Oren Empire's choosing. Only then will a subsequent peace ensue and hostilities be brought to an end.  If these demands are not met after the fifth elven day, orders will be granted to the dwarven Legion to begin conducting skirmishes upon the territories of Malinor. By the grace of holy Yemekar, it is with the best intent that I pray you follow through with these wishes for the betterment of your kin, as well as my own.

- Valen Grandaxe, Lord of the Kingdom of Urguan.

Ebs pales visibly upon seeing a dwarf in Malinor, and makes his way out of the forest a bit too quickly, almost running towards Salvus, and tears streak his face, for he is mourning the death of the Nation that was once proud to call itself Malinor.

Kyral sighs, looking at the Messenger, then to her house, then back at the messenger as she then goes home to pack her things. She sighs, and shrugs, just saying "Feck it all, I'm going to live on my boat."

(( This message was brought to a prince, so if you are not amongst the council chances are your character does not know what it entails. ))

(( This was an awesome read Zezimus, very well put together! ))

Urasept approaches the dwarf as greets him and takes the message from him.

Oh my you are a far way from home. But I thank you for delivering this note. Please take a seat in the bar here, have a drink and rest a bit.

He carefully opens the scroll as the dwarf sits down. Slowly he reads the message being careful to understand every word said. As he finishes he rolls the scroll back up then turns his head to the dwarf.

I understand you had a long trip and you are tired. So stay until you are rested then please make haste with a response that I will make my way there personally to respond to their concerns. I feel it is better that I do this in person than sending a note. I will also send you back on my own horse, keep him he is now yours. When you are ready, travel swift and safe as the roads are not that safe anymore.

Azel already nearby, approaches Urasept at hearing his words and looks to the dwarf.

"Greetings fair Dwarf, I am Azel Bloodseeker, Patron of Darkhaven and dwarf friend to many of your hold." He smiles and turns to Urasept, studying him before looking back to the Dwarf. "As I have been made aware of, many in Oren wish to see the Council removed. If that is the case with the Dwarves as well, do not fret. My forces and I have made a play on Malinor and plan to speak openly and directly to the council. Please make the good king aware that I wish him to be there, to see his allies take control and better Malinor."

Azel smiles and bows to the dwarf

Urasept turns his head and stares at Azel.

Excuse me, are you really stupid enough to spout treasonous garbage right next to me?

Beside Azel, in a previously unoccupied space, a figure slowly solidifies into view, becoming visible. Polgrath bears a look of calm.

Your High Council is what Oren and the dwarves desire... treason would to not turn each of you into them to save Malinor. Do your duty and give ye'self up to the bortu for trial so you can say ye did at least one honorable thing in your life.

Vanir, watching from a distance as he does, grins a ghost of a smile at Urasept's words. He considers approaching, but decides his interference would not be appropriate here. Nevertheless, his nature causes him to mull over a reply to the soon-to-be-ex-Prince's words.

'Treasonous to what, yourself...? Most Mali are on our side. If such opinions of the majority are treason, then what is left of this fractured council must not represent the people. And if they do not represent the Mali... then they are worse than useless.'

Playing out the imaginary argument in his head, Vanir twitches upwards the corners of his mouth.

'You have no more power here, Urasept. Your time as a prince, brief though it was, is now over. The Mali shall decide whether you are worthy of reinstating... Does such a thought frighten you? To be judged by the people? A true and good ruler would not be frightened so, for they would have nothing to fear. You, on the other hand...'

Vanir realizes that he has lost himself in his thoughts, and fully appreciates the leaves blocking him from view.

'I must have looked absurd, muttering and making motions to myself...'

Vanir returns his attention to the two, berating himself for indulging his wandering thoughts. He realizes that a third figure has appeared somehow during his lapse in concentration, which only annoys him further.

Azel looks to Urasept, a smile remains on his face.

"Urasept, I am not spitting treason. The acts of the High Council and yourself are filled with treason. Many wish to see your and the Council removed from Malinor. But you are all so intent on keeping your power, caught up in your greed and corruption. It is a sickening sight to see in my fellow Mali. What makes it worse, is it is in my mentor, my master, Urasept the Butcher. I only pray you and your colleagues will see the error of your ways and hand over control of Malinor to wiser, stronger Elves."

Azel's smile is one of sadness, not anger.

You know Azel it is funny how you spout I am corrupt and greedy. Yet I have never taken any pay, nor do I own a house. As well as I have plans to reform the nation itself that the people of Malinor would actually benefit from and enjoy. I do not cling to any power, mind you again I was appointed when everything was already in the gutter, if I am to step down than I will and not care. But now that Orym and Kolyat has left change can actually be at hand a. Either way this is not the time nor the place. The council itself will be holding more open door meetings so the people can express there ideas and concerns more readily and  it would have insight from more people that are effected, so a better decision can be made I encourage you to come.

"I have already sent in a time for a meeting. I wish an open, public meeting, for all Mali to join in. When you are ready to do so Master, just give me the word."

Azel grins
