A Formal Declaration Of War

From his chamber in the Imperial Palace, Augustus Blackmont sends orders to his Captain Drelik Letholdus, who in turn has them distributed. Letters of intent are sent to nobility of note in the Holy Oren Empire, bearing the Flayed man of Blackmont

 

To those Lords and Ladies of this Holy Oren Empire,

 

It is the wish of his Lordship Augustus Blackmont of the House Blackmont that all those in the Empire be made known of his intent to make official and foremost that he does not take lightly the provocations of the Orcs of the War Uzg. Such crimes that they have partaken in include but are not limited to:

 

- Assistance in the form of weaponry and manpower to the Holy Princedom of Malinor, whom - as declared by the Emperor are enemies of this state. 

- Assaults and aggravations against the denizens of the Empire, and the Kingdoms that pay tribute to it. 

- Conspiracies to bring harm unto the Empire, the House Blackmont, and personally to the Lord Blackmont and family. 

 

With these slights made public, and undeniable by any well informed man of the Empire, it shall be made clear in this missive that the attempts at restraint in regards to the Orcs of the War Uzg is hereby null and made void, and from this time no man should have doubt that the House Blackmont, allies and hired men, are in a state of fully declared and open warfare against the nation of Orcs - the previous status of undeclared de facto combat thrown aside. In no way does this speak for the Empire as a whole, nor the Emperor's will, but that of his loyal and sworn man Augustus Blackmont. Only until Lord Blackmont deems that punishment has been dealt in full and retribution payed in a satisfactory manner will the conflict be ended, lest the Emperor himself command.

 

To those Houses that bear fealty to House Blackmont, a similar letter of intent or assurance of support is required by law of vassalage  To those that may call Blackmont friend and ally, be it through association or otherwise, no support is demanded of or necessary - but welcome nonetheless. 

 

Should any Orc somehow get wind of this letter and its content, warn your ungrateful brethren - and pray your leaders have the providence to make peace while it is still attainable.

Thomas Chivay, upon hearing news of this new declaration, decides to compile his own simple response to the declaration, sending it off in a letter sealed by House Chivay:

During a road block on Oren territory enacted by the Zahr clan of the War Uzg, a Courier bird bearing a fine parchment approaches the "Brudda'ud ov Black" flying through the air. Argok'Zahr, clan chieftain squints his eyes as the fine letter glistens in the sunlight from the bird's clutches. Argok'Zahr looks to his son Gregok'Zahr

 

"Klomp dat birdie! Dun't let 'em floi awahy!"

 

Gregok'Zahr reaches down to a large rock of which he lifts, hugging in a bear like manner. He raises the rock above his head and with a mighty roar, launches the large rock 12ft high, smashing through the birds line of flight as it plummets to the floor along with the large rock.

 

"Ah, Gud 'un Gregie,"

 

Argok'Zahr orders his clan to continue robbing the citizens on the road whilst he approaches the crushed and dismantled bird. He clutches the animal with one hand and in the other, the letter. He unravels the envelope and begins to read its contents, ripping off the birds head with his tusk and chewing on it thoughtfully. Argok'Zahr finishes reading the letter after a long while because of his lack of knowledge and turns to his clan

 

"Luks loike meats bak on da menru boysh!"

Silent soon hears word of the declaration of war upon the orcs, and sitting in his blacksmith shop, he senses something of great evil is on the horizon.

"It has been over a year since the first message came from the void. The messages that followed gave warning, but it seems the Empire is as blind as ever."

Moving over to his chest, Silent unlocks it and pulls out his winter equipment.

"The nations are becoming blind fighting amongst themselves... and when are armies are lost, and cities cracked, the true enemy will come forth and destroy us in one swift move..."

Silent unsheaths his sword and walks over to his grinding wheel, and begins to sharpen the blade.

"I'll have to find a way to stop this damn Empire, along with the other races, from destroying themselves, and get them to remember who the real enemy is... and the frozen north they come from..."

"Looks like the thugs'll be getting klomped before WE get the chance to deal out some retribution...pity."

Marcus Briarwood catches word of the declaration. He sprints off to Salvus, runs into the middle of the square, raises both hands in the air, and begins running around screaming,
