The Antagonist And You

Welcome LoTC, to a bit of a sneak preview of our 3.0 Antagonist.

So where to begin... well, to start, the antagonist came to me through Mogroka, and was written by Chaqery. It was at first meant to be something for the transition islands, but after reading over it and brainstorming upon its integration into the server, I realized that it was way too good to be something temporary. So with the support of the Admin and GM team, I set off with Chaq, Mog, and Viper to develop an antagonist that would be different both in spirit and in structure from anything LoTC has seen to date.

This antagonist is a very non- op style of antagonist. The fighting capabilities and RP are equal with regular players; ((who are armored and weaponed up Winking )) and it was decided that mob spawning and the spam of magical spells was a recipe for disaster that would not be repeated here.. We wanted something that would bring RP to the server and fulfill that desire to have battles and PVP with an opposing force.

The antagonist players will begin with the Event Team. They will fill the ranks of the armies of the antagonist, known as the G***********. The G**** will begin as a single army, but as they grow, and as regular players are added to the ranks, they will slowly branch off under a leader, who you all have thusfar dubbed as wraiths, each assigned a different location on the map, as well as a timezone to operate in. This is something that will grow slowly, in secret, and at a pace to keep the balance of the server in favor of non-antagonist numbers. To join you simply need to fill out an application, and wait till the RP happens in game.  As a note: the character you get captured and corrupted/deformed with will be your G*** character and thus would never be able to RP as a non G**** version. So make sure this is a sacrifice you are willing to make, or simply create a character for the antagonist. Before you jump into the application process though, I would like to lay down some ground rules:

1. You must remain IC follow the guidelines and descriptions in the lore. Failure to do so will result in a kick from the Antagonistic faction.
2. You are here as a service to the community and the opportunity to be apart of something new and exciting; though the inter-antagonist RP will be exciting enough; horrible RP or PVP conduct will result in a kick; so be aware of ban reports, strike reports, and players who find the RP unsettling and disturbing.
3. Leaking information, metagaming on alts, or assisting others with metagaming will result in a kick from the antagonist and month ban.
4. Remember to have fun, stick together, and promote quality villainous/antagonist RP to the community.

This antagonist also comes with a map. The map is on the same existence plane as Anthos. Its location will be released in game and IC. It will be open to everyone 24/7. A certain area will be gated off when the antagonist are off line. However, this map comes with much more than antagonist. Lore books and diaries will be placed throughout it, to give info on the antagonists, their weakness, as well as the location of secret weapons to aid against them. So even if we aren't online, exploring the island or searching for secrets will keep you occupied till we are back to kill you.

Raids, battles, and similar events will frequently with this new source of evil, as we attempt to offer a new take upon what it means to be an antagonist. That being said, OOC consent and a heads up will be given to nation leaders, village leaders and guild leaders. Any PVP will begin after sufficient RP has occurred. It will be given a OOC PVP initiated prompt so both sides may start swinging at the same time. Know that villages will be taken over, fortress' constructed, and players chosen from the captured and decimated landscape in our wake to be apart of the faction... or executed. If our numbers are too high, then all will be executed, if we need more and those captured have an Antagonist availability app, then we may choose to accept some.

So to wrap it up, this is a very structured and organized antagonist. It is beyond the scope of a mere source of evil: it is a faction in and of itself. It involved a fully accessible map, PVP, some minor magic and alchemy, tons of RP, kidnappings and dissapearances, disfigured and twisted looking Humans, Orcs, Dwarves or Elves; depending on the original character’s nature. No massive mob spawning is involved and the lore will be leaked IG through books scattered throughout the antagonist island. I hope you all enjoy this and it should be out and live by this weekend.

Thank you for your patience and trust and I hope to see you all In game.

I'm curious. Say, theoretically, an Ascended was captured. Considering their 'awakened' blood, would they be able to be twisted into such a creature? Or would the blessings of Aeriel counteract any ill effects?

Can the antagonists be a little OP? No fun if that random lumberjack who saw them walking passed can murder them with his rusty old lumberjack axe.

By no means will they be easy to kill. But they won't kill you in the blink of an eye now either.

Not every enemy you face can be defeated by smacking on the left mouse button. In places, it gets a little more complex than that. But everything is equally defeatable.

I look forward to seeing ya'll join our ranks!
