Maybe add a command "/mentor bio <MCName>" and have it give a bio of that mentor. That way you can see what their specialties are. That way you don't have an elf mentor being asked questions like "I'm a Dwarf, who do I ask for housing? Who's the leader of this guild?" and whatnot.

The purpose of guides is to get the community involved and teach them that they don't need to be a guide to help others.

They are supposed to be representatives of each race and nation and teach newbies about the lore and how they work.

The guides could do it, but not all of us are affiliated to a race like most people are.

Mentors are there as mini-Guides, and are there to provide more personal assistance.

The reason why this plugin was added was to make this process easier, as mentors have complained about not being able to assist as many as they potentially could.

 

As for why mentors exist in the first place, check the link in the original post, and if you have further questions you may post then. ^-^

No, no, I meant how will this help. If mentors are meant to help the younger ones wouldn't it be difficult for them to have to go through commands?

Hmm... I wouldn't understand what a player is doing on LotC if they can't take the time to figure out a few commands... but I get your point. It might be making the process a little more confusing, but I do think the plugin is rather straightforward.
