Full Name: Caelik
Current Age: 26
Sub-race (if any): Wood Elf
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Caelik was born into a family well renowned throughout Laurelin, for their feats during the Laurelin Gauntlet. Both his father and grandfather competed in it on many occaisions and each completing it each time. This is how his family gained their wealth. It is as if his family was gifted the ability to be incredibly agile and nimble, and that would explain their ability to complete the Gauntlet this often.

 

Naturally, coming from this background, Cealik had been around the idea of being agile from a young age, and he was trained very often in how to replicate his father and grandfather's techinique, training him up to one day take on his father's mantle and complete the gauntlet.

 

Agility is not his only skill, in his part time, his father acts as a sentury for the Laurelin City, an archer to be precise, as the Wood Elves are well known for their skills with a bow. And so, over the years, Caelik learned from his father the use of a bow, and how to be a crack shot with it. Caelik did once try his hand with a sword but, being a Wood Elf, his size let him down as he could barely swing the sword. He is fairly handy with a knife though, so if time calls for it, he uses that in close quarters.

 

Caelik spends a lot of his spare time in the forest, with his bow, practising his shot on animals lurking in the shadows. He uses this time to hunt for animals and then takes the meat either home to his family or sells it on to local butchers, and he has developed quite a name for himself within the butcher's of the city for his skill of providing deliveries of meat.

 

He has also developed a reputation with the younger women of Laurelin as being quite a charmer, and fairly good looking, he enjoys female company and flirting with girls.
Ambitions for the Future: To complete the Laurelin Gaunlet and become a Sentinal like his father.
Personality: Fairly calm and collected, although people find it hard to read what he is thinking. However he enjoys playing tricks on people he thinks deserve it. He is kind, caring and honest, and believes in helping others.
Skills: Agility and the use of a bow.

[b]1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?[/b]

Answer: Caelik spots some older elves mocking a younger one, and so he decides to move in closer to try and understand what is happening. He jumps from tree to tree, almost like a cat, and sits in the tree above the older elves. He listens in on the conversation and hears,

"You aren't a real wood elf, you have brown hair"

"I am, my mother says it comes from my father's side"

"Well your mother is a liar, you are adopted"

Caelik decides that it is unfair for the older elves to make fun of this young child, and make him believe something hurtful which is not true, so he hatches a plan. He jumps into another tree where he can get a better view and decides to scare the older elves off. He reaches for his bow and notches an arrow. He aims just above the head of the leader of the group and lets loose the arrow. The arrow flies to it's destined target and lands, with a thud, in the bark of the tree just above the head of the leader. The leader is petrified by this and quickly calls to his gang,

"Come one guys, it isn't safe 'round here, lets go"

Happy with his work Caelik jumps down from his tree and checks if the child is ok, and takes him home to his mother.

[b]2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?[/b]

Answer: Caelik saw the old man collapse, and immediately dashed to his side, the sound of his fall making Caelik wince, it sounded as if he had broken something. He saw the money pouch fall out of the man's pocket and estimated there to be around 200 Minas in there, enough to buy a new bow, Caelik considered. He quickly banashed this thought, he wasn't like that. He proceeded to place the money pouch back into the man's pocket. Caelik checked the man's wounds and found that his arm was, in fact, broken. Caelik had to get the man to a healer, and fast, who knows how the man would respond to his wounds, being old and frail. Caelik quickly carried the man back to his home, it was a struggle for Caelik, as he isn't the strongest elf around, but he managed it, the old man was quite light. Caelik and his mother then took the man to one of her friends, a healer within Laurelis who owed Caelik's mother a favour and so they managed to get the treatment for free. The man awoke a few days later, feeling a little dazed, but overall he was going to be alright.

[b]3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer: Caelik rushed over to the trader, his eyes quickly eyeing up what the man had to offer, Caelik needed a new hunting knife, his old one was a little worse for wear from years of hunting. He had 100 Minas spare in his pocket and was looking for a good quality knife. He stolled over to the merchant and enquired, "What do you have in the way of knives?", the merchant replied with, "What kind of knife you looking for son?"

"A good quality hunting blade, something I can skin animals with, and maybe use to defend myself should a bear come near"

"How about this?", Caelik's eyes lit up, the man had produced the most beautiful knife Caelik had ever laid eyes upon, a curved blade, with a green hue to it, clearly of elven make. The handle looked comfortable to hold and the whole blade itself looked very balanced.

"How much?" Caelik dared to ask.

"It'll set you back 135 Minas"

Caelik swore under his breath.

"What's up? Not got enough?" The merchant enquired.

"Yes" Cealik sighed.

"I'll do you a deal, 110 Minas" the merchant offered.

"How about make it 100?" Caelik offered, he really wanted the blade.

"I wouldn't normally go so low..."

"100" Caelik cut in

"Fine, 100 it is, only because I saw how you eyes lit up when I showed you the blade. Here, take it" He handed Caelik the knife, along with a scabbard for it to be held in.

"Now you take care of this blade, it is fine one, I hope it serves you well" And with that Caelik scampered off elated by the bargain he just picked up, he wanted to try it out as soon as possible.

1. Wood elves skin color is darker than that of a normal elf and is not pale. More of a beige or brown color.

 

2. Your character could not be 26 and have lived in Laurelin as that was over 100 years ago. Make sure you edit your character's age in order to have his home make sense.
