New Life And New Beginnings

A warm breeze swept through the labyrinth of great trees that made up the Karakatuan jungle, The Vena'vi, firefly creatures, littered the night's air like fallen stars as the full moon gazed down expectantly, casting dark shadows over the land as the pale moonlight illuminated what it could touch. Yet, this most peaceful of times was interupted by a loud screech of a creature far from human. The screech caused animals to flee in fear, being all too familiar with the animal that had produced it. Tykkan's sploshed into the river, slinking to its bed in pure terror of the great predator's anger.

But this was no screech of anger, this was one of excitement. For this was the night that the great Gy'waka birds had been waiting for, for a very, very long time. The collosal eggs shook violently as their mothers and fathers stormed through the jungle in anticipation of their young. Dozens upon dozens of eggs began to shake soon after each other, the jungle became alive with the sounds of frantic screeching and squawking.

And then came the sound that resulted in the cheering of Kha', observing from the safety of the trees. The eggs produced soft 'cracking' sounds as the young Gy'wakas began to break free of their shells, their eyes squinting in the bright light of the moon as their parents dipped their heads down to pick at the eggshells, aiding the chicks' escape onto Karakatua.

The great birds stormed through the jungle with their young, weaving with grace amongst the trees despite their large frames. The Gy'waka nudged the chicks onwards with their beaks in a loving manner, their high-pitched screeches of joy dying down as the sun begins to rise on the horizon, drowning out the moon's most tranquil of lights.

Moments like these blocked out the Kharajyr's troubles, like a light in the darkness of the world around them. Metztli had bestowed upon them a gift like no other, and the Kha' were willing to accept. The new arrivals were finally here and the Kha' would see to it that they are nurtured to adulthood were they may be of more use. This was not only a new beginning, but a sign of good things to come.

So'Raska sits perched upon the tree, his staff resting against his short back as he looks upon the newly born Gy'Waka's spawning throughout Karakatua. His normally calm and inscrutable face turned into a bright smile, his bright eyes seemed dumbfounded at Metztli's gift for the Kharajyr.

Saikaunaah sits on Jacael, her own Gy'waka, whilst she watches the great amount of Gy'wakas run around, a bright smile on her face "Mul'ta, Muuna..." she says quietly to herself as Jacael starts to screech towards the other Gy'wakas, though she does not move. Saikaunaah continues to stare at the majestic creatures for a while before hopping off, letting Jacael go with the others "Hav'aw fawn!" she says towards her as Jacael runs off.

Lorei watches the Gy'waka chicks hatch with a smile spread across her face. The joy of the parent Gy'waka along with their cries and screeches influenced her, their elation making her feel light and worry-free. Underneath the moon, Lorei felt deeply connected to Metztli. In the trees next to her kin, she felt bound to the Kha. They were together and the anxiety of the earlier day had been forgotten at the sight of new life. Of new beginnings.

She closes her eyes and breathes in, letting the humid air calm her. She opened her eyes, exhaling softly and looking back down at the new families below her. She envied the happiness they had. The togetherness. She thought of her own empty den and frowned. She felt loneliness begin to settle and shook her head, forcing herself to focus on the Gy'waka below. She couldn't let that bother her now.
