A Portrait: Emperor Horen

*The painter is hard at work over his canvas, a stroke her and  a dash there; Eventually the piece finally begins to fall into place. A true work of representational masterpiece, capturing the true essence of the subject and everything that they are all summed up into one portrait, formed from simple blotches of paint and smearing brought on by the careful stroke of a horsehair brush . . .

*The painter steps back for but a moment, a wide grin across his face. The art patrons behind him let out a gasp at the image before them. Rendered speechless they appear to look on in fear, but the painter knows he has done well. He applies the final touches, adding in the most minute but also the most important details before wrapping it up and heading for the Imperial Palace . . .

*The guards let him pass with a nod and he steps into the great hall of our the most esteemed and feared holy Emperor. The powerful throne, dragon and colors stop him for a moment as he looks on, but he knows his task at hand and continues down the strip of carpet. He climbs high above the throne unto the very belly of the inlayed dragon, he removes the careful wrapping and hangs it perfectly center . . .

*He steps back once more to admire his work. A portrait double the size of the subject; bright gold letters that simply say "Emperor Horen: The Feared" are indented in a plaque attached to the frame. His grin drops, his head darts around the room; He sprints out of the hall as quickly as his little legs can take him and dives quickly over the cliff edge . . .

*All the remains of this great painter's legacy now hangs over the throne of the Emperor for the whole world to see and admire generations down the line; A true testament to the character that is Horen, son of Godfrey . . .

((Captures his immortal mortal image perfectly. The smile is quite beautiful too!))

By pure coincidence, Korthos was already in the hall, to present his own portrait. However, he doesn't display it as publicly, as to not get humiliated by this painter's far superior painting. He then goes home to Kralta to weep on the edge of the unfinished keep, moss thriving in his tears.

"I'll pay 10000 minas for this magnificent piece. You know I have it."

((Best.... Painting.... Ever. Also on a side note that painter got some real balls. Couldn't stop laughing I thought there was going to be a hand drawn sketch.))

Caln waits until it is completely dark. Once all that is left are the guards, he walks back up the long road to the palace. As the top of the palace wall come in sight, Caln goes off the road and blends into the trees around the palace. The recurve bow makes barely a sound as the string is pulled back and fitted with a goose feathered arrow. Nothing can stop what is about to come. The arrow flies out of the trees and catches the first guard in the chest, while a second quickly follows taking the other in the knee. The third guard runs at the direction of the arrows in the trees, but Caln has already slinked off around to the right of the palace. As the guard rummages around in the trees going farther and farther, Caln breaks his cover and runs to the palace gates. The wounded guard can barely make a sound as another arrow enters his body at the throat. Caln kneels down and dips his fingers deep in the blood and walks over to the painting. He traces a mustache on the painting in blood and runs off quick as he came with a small giggle.
