Could also get the plugin to cause snow in all biomes but the desert in the Winter season. Snow'll accumulate on things as it does in dwarf lands, and melt when the season switches back.

To be honest, as much as I love freya's names... Well it WOULDN'T fit with the GoT seasons (A sunday is 'Deep Freeze' in the middle of summer). And the next option (Elindor) contains some good & bad ones... But Elindor's is the most appropriate in my eyes.

DO THIS.

I don't like the idea of the Game-of-Thrones-like seasons.

The reason being is that there'd be no predictability and you couldn't really roleplay stuff like preparing for winter because you wouldn't know it's coming soon. If we could have a set cycle of seasons, that would be much better as we'd get equal amounts of all four seasons to enjoy, rather than just using what's 'convenient'.

I could also see seasons coming into play with the Fishing plugin, and if we have unpredictable seasons, then we couldn't plan big fishing trips if we couldn't tell when the next season is coming.

All in all, I say a one season per year (a week) or two years system (Half a month) will work beautifully and provide many more options than something unpredictable. Plus, it might be easier to code uniform season times than an algorithm for randomizing season times.

Edit:
As for snow everywhere in the winter and it being a hard job for GMs... well... it doesn't have to snow in winter all the time. Sometimes it just gets really cold and you never really get any snow.

I really think we should stick to Freya's system. About seasons, I'd prefer quarter-year. This provides summer and winter as well as spring and fall, which I feel are needed to enhance roleplay. Just RPing in winter and summer just doesn't seem fun.

Now that I'm more informed on the seasons, I still oppose the GoT-like system. Only summer and winter lessens the possibilities of stuff like seasonal fish or crops which in my opinion would be f***ing awesome. Additionally the sudden change from hot to cold in-character would be rather jarring every time it switches (And one month summers... poor Fjarriauga...) and, in my personal opinion, immersion breaking. I think the one week, four seasons system would work just fine, or even a two week system of that's too short for some people.

Meh... Fjarriauga will just do the opposite of birds and migrated to the colder regions.

Anyway, I for one like the idea of snow during the winter months for the aesthetics, roleplay interaction with the environment and the additional snow my Fjarriagua character can potentially make use of.

Now onto the calender itself, I personally prefer Matt's or Gaius system.  The names I thin are better sounding and unique.  Also they don't have things dealing with weather in their names (at least the meaning of the names are not obvious).  After all, I would think its awkward that it would be Snow Maiden when its during the blistering summer time.

I prefer the full year seasons to be honest.  Gives players more time to RP the local weather and offers the most variety (I would like my fall and spring thank you very much).  Not trying to sound critical but couldn't you have called the ASolarF/GoT-ish system simply "Summer and Winter System"?  It would be easier for those not familiar with ASoIaF/GoT series to grasp what their weather system is and will make the voting process more neutral as I think as people will just vote for it because it has the GoT acronym attached to it like a celebrity endorsement.  Maybe its just my aversion to add any more GoT influences in LOTC speaking but its something to mention.

I vote for the old naming conventions, hands down. Tradition is good and I don't like change. I see no reason why we would change the universal names of the months, now that they have been a part of our lore for two years and are still remembered by those of us that were born in Aegis and are still alive and well. To change the universally remembered and agreed upon names of the months now would be like saying that Aegis was actually called the Mushroom Kingdom and the Undead were actually called the Koopalings.

As for the seasons, I think month-long seasons would have a much greater impact. Seasons lasting a day or a week would just be too wishy-washy, especially for those of us that are not on every single day.

[Edited out the spoiler. I always giggle and then feel instantly sorry when I do stuff like that.]

I hate you Ned Lud Q_Q

Don't read the last part of his reply if you haven't read the books, for all the GoT fans out there. :<

Also, Joffrey gets poisoned to death at his wedding; it's probably going to be the season finale. You should have read the books first.

I suppose one could say Ned Lud is a luddite. But I also am rather fond of the old names.
