If You Ask The Elf What He Seeks...

Sense.

Sense is a concept of understanding, perceiving, comprehending. The five senses, sensory detail in writing, making 'sense'. All are things we can relate to and interpret properly on one level or another.

However.

The world does not make sense, where would be the fun in that? I'll answer for you, a lot. That is why people make their own worlds whether in books, or plays, or even their own little corner of the map... Worlds that make sense, to them.

One quiet night... One night in Malinor, a father held a child in his arms and all in the world seemed right. That's because he wasn't looking to the world, though, he was looking to his world. His world was as fragile as the infant held in his arms, and all too soon it came crashing inwards. The father looked away from his child and saw unrest, war, and promises that would be broken sooner than later.

The father was no ordinary man, he was an Elf of many travels and stories. A past that only one other person, alive, knew of in length. He was a man molded by others, and in some cases the absence of others. Times have changed since his upbringing however, and so he has become 'his own man'. He hasn't. The world has simply changed, and not for the better.

And he saw how it had changed. Fools who thought themselves experts, speaking lies and wrongs as if they were truth and rights. Other fools believed them. It was not their fault, they were simply too spineless to ask for guidance. Apparently relying on others is a weakness. So the world around him became a world of self-serving and spineless cowards, lead by other self-serving and spineless cowards, only they had crowns. The mold had shifted and so had the man.

In the recent past he had been slandered and scorned. What did he do? He arrived to a meeting already underway with an army prepared to march through his land. He appeased them. He prevented what could have been the twilight of his people. Would it have been the end of Malinor? No one will know. He did what he could to prevent it however, and so his people called him a traitor. The clay had crumbled away.

In time he left Malinor, and when he returned, a son came shortly after. He loved his child with such an unspoken passion that he felt the irrational urge to sprint and jump as fast and high as he could. However those high spirits were cut down in the recent turnings of the world.

War.

Purges.

Promises.

Quite a few people have been bored in their worlds lately, it seems.

His wife's world would not protect them. His world would not protect them. In order to survive this land... They needed to create their own world together, all three of them.

And so the Elf sought out a world to call their own.

You may think the Elf selfish, you may think the Elf foolish, however you must first ask the Elf what it is he seeks.

He will answer to you, "Peace."

And you may leave it at that, but you may ask again, "How does one achieve peace?"

He will answer to you, "Stay in your world and out of mine."

And so the roads' beckons do send.

Wonderfuly written I enjoyed it. Give me some insight into Avern and some aspects that reminded me of khel, which is rather surprising. They both have had an extremely similar situation in life yet they both dealt with it in nearly polar ways.

I can see the Elene aswell, yet she went down a different path from that point. Us "fallen"(couldn't think of a good word for it) princes all have that bond of acting for what our character thinks is right and then getting smashed down for it

Well, I'm no fallen Prince of Malinor, but I enjoyed it as well. I hope I'm not being presumptuous when I say that Gavin is probably one of the fools mentioned in the paragraphs... and that's wonderful.

+1 for granting insight.

Deep within the canopy that towers above the forest floor, a small, red-haired woman sits upon a wide branch. She sit and waits. In her arms she cradles a baby boy with sharp green eyes, and the wind gently rocks the tree on which they perch. The two of them wait, together.

Nature is constantly changing, yet always in the same ancient patterns. Things are born, they die, the world is cold and harsh, then it is warm and sweet. Life, as part of nature, also changes. Happiness comes and goes, but so do times of suffering. No season can last forever. Though seasons of spring, love, and life will come to their inevitable end, neither can winter remain for long. And so she sits, and waits. Waits for the returning spring.

((A nice look into Avern's mind, and a very enjoyable read.))

Emberhard, also now an ex-prince sits peacefully upon a bench in Malinor, ale flask in hand. His eyes are locked in a glassy 1000 yard stare into oblivion.
A look of simple content upon his face...
As slowly,
darknes fades in...

as his story and the inner working of his mind begins to manifest....

But then he snaps out of it.
Remembering that his story is so long that even he has stopped bothering to count the years past.
That the inner working of his mind, which some call brilliance, and others madness....'tis on second thought....a rather silly place.

[[As much as I like to have people make their own interpretations... I would like to just step in to explain that this is my explanation for Avery's absence. It's not meant to relate to ex-High Council members nor is it directed at any character.

It's just to explain why Avery isn't here. :P]]
