argonian 14254 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Also responding to SpamShok. Very good points, well since 1 profession can be something like Glassworker, you wouldn't want to be limited to just that. But I will give it some thought, there can most likely be a compromise. Yes, you can trade/drop pseudo-items. They can also be stolen. So they can be put in chests? Jman 1 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Would there be any perks or bonuses to only focusing on and completely specializing in just one profession, or would you just be considerably limiting yourself? Could I sacrifice my other skills entirely, for some additional mastery over my only profession?
Stag 3229 Share Posted June 27, 2013 It's all so perfect. I just wish the name "LOTC-CORE" was kept. I thought it was a fantastic name, not to say "NEXUS" isn't. I just have a different preference.
Elindor 666 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I am feeling... like Nexus wasn't really explained. I mean, by what the name is I am assuming that it is the in-game interface by which you personalise your character (skills, pseudo items, character card) and can view others' personalised characters. Is that what Nexus is physically represented as? In your post it is like Nexus is just a concept. I is confused And to commute with Spamshok: There is a point at which you have to just release your plugins and let them be in the hope that the majority will do what is right. There will be a portion of players who will do precisely that: max out on combat based skills, even if their character has not had the valid roleplay experience to be the greatest fighter ever. But they are the same people who are power-gaming already, so whether you introduce a plugin or not there will still be players who ruin it. But for the others who get involved in their non-combat players, this plugin looks to make things much more enjoyable. I really need a glass-blower too to make me some nice bottles. Can't find one anywhere at the moment.

Elindor 666 Share Posted June 27, 2013 So rather than calling it 3.2.0 it is 'Nexus'. Why not just call the interface Nexus and all the other updates are a part of the Nexus update? Meh, whatever. No I didn't watch the livestream. I get intimidated by long videos online . If it was a podcast I'd be all up on that.

Lym 849 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Over the past two years, and pretty much ever since this server came into existence, the staff has been promising us really well-worked out profession plug-ins and alike (magic plug-in for example). While this nexus core plug-in surely does sound cool and great, I'm not getting excited for anything until it's legitimately there and implemented. In other words: OP too long, did not read. Silent™ 552 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I'll like it even more when, and if, I get to test it and see what it's like for myself.
Elfen_ 232 Share Posted June 27, 2013 From all that I read, I do not like it. To be honest when I first heard some sort of plugin to come around, I was excited. Not so much anymore.
no longer active 734 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I disagree with only 10% of your items being dropped on your death. That seems a big discouragement to bandits. For example, I could see someone with a set of armor and know my set is probably on it's last leg. I then try robbing him. We fight, he dies, I don't get the armor. Why would it simply disappear? As an alternative to the current system I suggest after killing someone a chest GUI pops up with all there items in it. You take why you want and leave the rest. There could also be a money pouch represented by an ink sack that shows the amount of money a player loses on death. Say 20%. The bandit has the option of taking it or leaving the "body" there with all the items he didn't want.

As bandits alone we already get enough heat for even suggesting to people that we kill/rob to use the /damage 20 command, even though it is fully within our right to do so. We constantly just let people off because it was fun, but in the instance where we actually want to go for someone's stuff, there is a large chance that we wouldn't receive said item? Doesn't seem to make much sense. I hope you'll read this post. Other than this I like the plugin!
Telanir 6975 Author Share Posted June 27, 2013 I'll like it even more when, and if, I get to test it and see what it's like for myself. Indeed! With the test server going up soon it will be a blast seeing all of you guys taking a gander at the plugin. :3 From all that I read, I do not like it. To be honest when I first heard some sort of plugin to come around, I was excited. Not so much anymore. Well, I was looking for opinions so I guess I got what I was looking for. :) If you could provide constructive criticism too I would value that very much indeed. Thank you! All I can say is that change cannot suit everyone at the same time unfortunately. I disagree with only 10% of your items being dropped on your death. That seems a big discouragement to bandits. The bandit has the option of taking it or leaving the "body" there with all the items he didn't want. Well, combat is supposed to be something that we are going to be directing our attention away from. But I can agree that 10% is far too little. 20% seems reasonable, and if necessary we can have bodies too haha. Right-clicking body would take the items, or something along those lines. At least a portion of minas will definitely be lost on death and given to the victor. ^-^ What Mili said. Doesn't seem to make much sense. I hope you'll read this post. Other than this I like the plugin! I might do something about that command... The /damage 20 command in itself is a rather monstrous command, as it generally indicates that the victim has to suicide themselves and sometimes people can't gather themselves to do it and it results in quite the storm of drama. You can let people off for fun as usual, as for 20% of the items, I will probably add some sort of snooping around function where you can actually look at the items and pick and choose. However, when players are allowed to pick and choose it is generally a fair option to trade this off for allowing to take less items, so that will likely be something that happens too.
