The King's Guard

Who we are

The King's Guard, or Da Thrummaz'th Akvel as it is spoken in the old tongue, is an organization who pledge their lives to the safety of the king, and to bringing justice to anyone who dare defies him. Little is known to the public about them because all of the members' identities must remain secret. They are obliged to don the official black plate of the dwarven kingsguard, and wear their unique helms at all times.

What we do

Accept for protecting the king, the kingsguard is responsible for executions, some interrogations, arrests (only if the king bids them to), and other classified tasks (including clandestine tasks). The kingsguard is not obliged to meddle in legion business unless ordered to by the king. They are also responsible for rooting out corruption in the government, and have the power to arrest corrupted officials.

Initiation

Initiation into the kingsguard is harder than it seems. The kingsguard soldiers are trained professionals that can wield any weapon, do not feel pain, and have no mercy. They train from the day of their choosing to the final day of their initiation and continue doing so until they are released of service. Such training routines include hours of training at their chosen weapon, swimming in ice lakes naked, and climbing up and down the Azgoth mountains until told to stop. They rid themselves of their senses by drinking a salve that includes a large amount of blissfoil every day. This salve slowly numbs their senses, and disables the feeling of pain in general.

To utterly rid of their mercy, the kingsguard are given a wolf pup at the beginning of their training. They are commanded to take care of the pup, and take it to wherever they go, to form a bond with it. In the middle of their training, they must ravage the pup to pieces with their bare hands, or face severe punishment. At the end of their training, an initiate of the kingsguard must duel with another initiate using only crude weapons, and must ravage him as well. The survivor becomes a sworn brother, and dons the black plate of the guard.

Those who fail at obeying commands have an even harsher fate. They are made into eunuchs, and flogged for every day of their training by another initiate. This forces them to become misanthropic, and thus shapes some of the cruelest members of the guard, members that know nothing but to serve, and would kill themselves if told to.

The Making of a King's Justice

The King's Justice is the brother of the kingsguard that comes out the most talented of them all, and the most twisted and merciless. Such a person is no person at all, and the locals even go as far as call the creature a Dread Knight. The King's Justice is not a dread knight, but is close to one. Like a dread knight, his soul has been tortured through years of training with his brothers in the black guard, but he still lives, and can (with difficulty) be killed by mortal means.

The King's Justice is nowhere near humane though. Through years of torture, he has been shaped into an instrument of war, and feels absolutely no pleasure but that of ravaging traitors and criminals apart. He is the king's dog, doing whatever is told of him, even if the king wants him to commit suicide, he would do it. This very creature is chosen to lead the kingsguard, making more war machines like himself. This merciless thing is also chosen to do the king's dirty work, such as executions, which it does gladly.

Application

The King's Guard is an invite-only organization. We prefer experienced roleplayers as being a merciless war-machine is not easy to roleplay (by experienced, we mean with a minimum of 3 months of RP behind them, though that much would rarely get you accepted unless you are REALLY good). If you think you have enough combat rp experience behind you, simply leave a post stating on how much time you have playing LotC, and any ban/strike reports (to root out any possible powergamers). Remember, once you join the kingsguard, your character stays in it and undergoes the training all the way through or dies in the procedures, a perma-death. Choose wisely, as your character will never be the same again!

((Just a note, the King needs to change the name, with a 3/5 or more vote from the Lord's Council. It's in the amendment))
