[Must Read] Server Rules

There's no doubt that since the rules were entirely rewritten for Asulon, they've gradually grown in length - with unneeded ones being added, and never used - and many ones that could fit into another also being added. To sort this, we've merged rules together, removed those that were idiotic or un-needed and made it a lot easier and less boring to read and also shrinking them massively. Therefore, I present to you, the new - pretty sweet - LotC rules!

(NB: The italic'd this areas are where there's links in the actual rules.)

The rules of the server are something we all find boring and you may think "Hey, what's the point in reading these, I can bluff it", however it's best for all of us if you take five minutes of your time and read them. It'll save you questioning things later, and it will also save you from making any mistakes that break the rules - we don't take "I didn't know that rule" as an excuse!

Well, onto the first of the 'rule trio' - the rules that apply in-game, on TeamSpeak and on the forums. Some of them obviously apply to certain things, but it's best for us to keep 'em together as there's not that many and some apply to everything.

  • You need to keep in-character at all times. Don't over-use local OOC, but make sure you use the provided chat channel when speaking OOC'ly!
  • If you fancy playing as a villainous character, you'll need to get yourself a 'Villain Application'. You can find out more about that here
  • If you want to play a character who uses magic, then you'll also need to apply for that via a 'Magic Application' Find out about that here.
  • You shouldn't use your soulstone to escape combat and arrest or to avoid roleplay.
  • Metagaming isn't allowed.
  • Powergaming also isn't allowed.
  • When you set your Minecraft skin, make sure it suits your character and race - don't have something totally irrelevant, or non-roleplay. Please, also don't use a nude skin!
  • Make sure you don't break any of the server's lore - it's there for a reason!
  • You're only allowed to play as one of the approved races, you can find them over here.
  • We don't allow 'cybering', paedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia, or anything akin to that - if you're not sure whether what you're doing is allowed - your best bet is: to not do it!
  • When you die, you don't need to kill your character (unless you committed suicide in roleplay) - you simply go back to the Cloud Temple, forget all memory of the death and you can't go back to where you died for a full thirty minutes.
  • Racism is allowed in-character, but make sure you don't do it out-of-character - it can only be towards other in-game races.
  • Please don't spam any of our chat feeds - it's just a headache for people reading them.
  • Make sure your account's safe! Don't share your account with anyone else, and don't give out your password to anybody. It's your responsibility to keep it safe, not anyone else's.
  • If you feel the need to curse (swear) in-character, keep it tasteful and don't overdo it.
  • You can't use any client-side modifications that give you an advantage over other players, like; speed-hacking, x-ray vision, fly-hacking. You can however, use things such as More Player Models and Rei's Mini-Map which we encourage you use!
  • We'd rather you didn't access any of our services behind proxies. If you want to, please pop us a message to the admin email to let us know.
  • We care about our players, so we don't allow bullying, blackmailing or bribery at all OOC'ly. Make sure you treat other people in a kind and friendly manner.
  • You can't just run around mauling people's prized animals! Don't slaughter an entire field of cows, that really isn't cool - it's best that they're there, and you roleplay it with them involved
  • Finally, don't act like a moderator to tell people off - that's what we're here for! If someone's doing something wrong, tell a moderator, don't tell them off yourself - and, if a GM says no to something, don't go and ask another one so you can get another answer!

If you fancy heading out and building something on the server, we do ask that you follow these rules:

  • Don't damage or destroy other people's buildings - this is known as griefing, and it's not something we allow. Get permission before changing someone else's building!
  • If you're building something yourself, please make sure it actually suits the area it's in - and that it makes roleplay sense! That means, you can't build a giant floating castle, or a physics-defying tower! Be sensible when you build. Also, if you're underground, make sure you add supports to the area, else it could collapse.
  • If you're out chopping down some trees, take the leaves away with you - don't leave them floating behind! Just think, you might even get an apple or two from them.
  • If it's The Wilds that you're in - you can't take over a pre-built ruin, but you can build where you wish if you follow the rules above!

Sometime's, you'll encounter hostile situations on the server, that need to be dealt with via combat. When you face these situations, please take heed of these few rules:

  • Both of you must agree to the type of fighting you're using - PVP or RP fighting. If you can't agree, you do RP fighting. If you's agree to PVP, then make sure you tell the person before you attack so it's fair! Also, before PVP happens, you need to RP the fight commencing, and things before it.
  • If you get beaten in a roleplay fight, you should type the command: '/damage 20' which will send you back to spawn.
  • If you run away from a fight with little or no roleplay, then the other player can attack you PVP'ly! Make sure that you emote it, roleplay it fully and give them time to react in roleplay.
  • You ain't allowed to simply log out to avoid combat. Speak to the other person, and explain you need to go.
  • In times of war, the rules on this do change.

When it comes to the forums, there are a set of different rules for them, which you can find here. Make sure you follow them when you're using the website!

In reality, not much has changed in the above rules - however, some changes were made, hence why we encourage you read through it!

Please make sure you keep an eye on the rules page (under Info > Rules) for any updates - as there'll be quite a lot in the near future.

If you've got any questions about these new rules - or anything else that you're confused about, I'll be sitting in TeamSpeak for the next few hours - you can catch me there.

Have a great day!

Pssshhhttt, the only rule that people actually need to really know is to not have a Wood Elf with pale skin!

So this means that PvP will not be default, or is the GM/Admin team still debating that?

Still being discussed - it stays as default RP until we actually manage to come to a decision.

Thank you for this well needed post on our rules, and the clarification of swearing. Oh, Danny, what would we do without you? :)

NOW POST ALL THE IG COMMANDS >:[

  • If you get beaten in a roleplay fight, you should type the command: '/damage 20' which will send you back to spawn.

Just a note on this rule, because it makes it seem like everytime someone loses a fight they have to /damage 20. That is not true. You may lose a fight and survive, you may lose a fight and then want to continue to play a corpse, or so forth.

I believe the rule should be: "If you die in rp, the one who killed you has to ability to ask for you to /damage 20, and you have to comply."

But even the rule I stated is not true, because those without a VA can NOT kill others, even when pvp is allowed, as it goes against the un-provoked killing. Pvp killing does not mean death, unless previously agreed, it can mean the person is knocked out, injured and can't fight any longer, or even pinned down, this expecially when the one that won the pvp has no VA for killing.

I ask you to please change this somehow so that it fits with the other rules.

[edit]

Now there are a lot of rules missing... including the wild rules, the war rules, the unspoken rules (some things that are metagaming, some things that are powergaming, realistic roleplay building, permakill clauses, and so forth)

Soon people will be saying that the rules are incomplete, because they are. The last rules were alot, I know, I wrote most of them to you, but I wrote them because they were rules and people needed to know them and be able to know "Oh, I was banned because of this, and the rule is infact written." Now as has happened before, it will be more of the kind of "Where is the rule I broke written?"

Le sigh...

I REALLY hate the /damage 20 rule  :crys:

Edit- Jistuma be a ninja.

A few more things I would like to say about the rules, but this I believe is just personal preference.

The words "Shouldn't", means you should not do it, but you can. For writing rules it is not a word to use.

Also, you should state that everyone should read the VA rules, because even those without a VA need to know them, the same about the magic rules.

[edit] I just remembered there is no rule about not abusing glitches? Mhh...

I don't see one for landscarring(besides leaves and floating buildings, but what about levelling mountains, etc.?) and there's no one explicitly saying that we don't accept No-RP kills.

EDIT: And you mentioned to not leave leaves floating(don't they decay?) but you didn't mention not to leave wood floating, I think.
