Finally, Pvp Is Default

As a Monk with 0 combat capabilities and no magic that can be used in combat- I'm happy about this. At least I can lose quickly now, instead of sitting through 30 minutes of roleplay/QQ'ing/accusations of meta+powergaming/analysis of a sword's physics as it's swung before I can go back to what I was doing.

I'm not a huge fan of the change, but there's no reason to get angry. We had PvP default for a long time, why not just TRY it?

Only people who actually use magic itself in combat are - e.g. people who will use the magic plugin when it comes / is fully introduced.

What about alchemists then? Everything we have is just blown away as if the magic users had to PvP aswell.

ITT: Celebration and butthurt power gamers

Everyone who doesn't like PVP is a Power-Gamer? That's just an unfair comparison, some people legitimately dislike PVP, and are adaquate RPers.

Alright, i'm personally not too into this but i'll give it a go never the less. Quick question though:

Let's say hypothetically that i'm walking down a road and a bandit pops out, wanting to kill me and take my things.

He wants to PVP.

I want to RolePlay the situation.

We're both adamant about our two sides of the road, and thus the conundrum... Does he have the right to force PVP onto me? Or may I simply say no and walk away from the situation to avoid further conflict both IC'ly and OOC'ly between us?

You will probably get throwable potions and such in Nexus, since i'm pretty sure Telanir mentioned it.

I have something i would like to point out.

What about the people who are only decent at RP fighting.  People who may not be good at pvp, but are good at RP fighting. What about the people who dedicate themselves to becoming better RPers, or who train their characters as much as possible in RP to become better fighters? Some people may argue its just clicking eachother till you die, but some times things can be different. Take lag and low FPS into consideration. Some people may have an advantage just because of the machines they can afford to buy, that others might not be able to.

People like me, and probably a lot of others who play on bad computers. To put it bluntly, my computer has the processing power of a toaster, and while I'm trying to save up money for a better PC, I'm no where near that. Although i still enjoy lord of the craft, and this is ruining it for me, as i will almost always lose a PVP fight regardless.

Also another thing, as people have mentioned.

Child characters, special races, animal characters. Some may not use weapons, some may not actually be able to fight, but if they engage pvp, they might be the best in the world. Small, 5 year old children dominating Anthos with their ultimate prowess in pvp.

While Danny may say "People should be decent enough to default to RP fighting for you guys" I call bullcrap on that, most people won't. A lot of people are item hungry, and would prefer mindless slaughter over a fun RP fight. It just happens, and no amount of promises that they wont can fix that. I'm serious on this, i would guarantee 9/10 times if i requested to default to RP as my child character, i would be denied. At least consider making a rule that forces you to Default to RP if its a specific type of character, like a child, or a wolf ETC.

Other than that, lets see how it goes, i guess. Maybe it won't be that bad, or maybe it will.

No, PVP is default... you have to PVP, but there must be sufficient roleplay beforehand. In the past, you could force your RP fight on him instead, but now it's the opposite way around. Although, it's probably best in the first place to not be adamant about things to the point where it causes problems...

I have something i would like to point out.

Beating a child is easier in a RP fight than a PVP fight. So if someone was truly item-hungry they'd agree with your choice, amirite?

This server was at it's prime during the time of PvP default. It was changed to role-play by default and many of us politely held our tongues and gave it a shot and have done so for quite a while now. Y'all can do the same. You've had your chance, it's our turn now to show you how it's done.

*Has le panic attack*

"Too many conflicting opinions... While I'm sure many of us will use RPly gladly, I worry for that one PVP happy group of bandits. I hope this works!"

Everyone who likes PVP is a trolly jerk who care only about the items?

See where I am going?

You cannot label one side or the other for the actions of a few. I love RP fighting. I support PVP default. I am awful. I mean awful at PvP.

You have to just play it out. See where it takes you. Ride the wave. Swimming against it is only going to drag you under.

But what about before Nexus, as the magic users are getting RP fights before Nexus due to not being able to use magic in PvP. Alchemists having to PvP is abit unfair with it since they cannot currently use any type of potion in PvP without Nexus.

I guess you get the short end of the stick in that department. Although if I ever met an Alchemist in a situation where I had to fight, i'd happily RP fight with them instead.
