ARCHITECUS 4788 Share Posted August 17, 2013 As a representative of the group of people who get a sub-par connection to the server, pvp-default is going to hurt. I play a halfling anyways, so it's not like I'll actually win a fight in rp either. Everyone has a sub-par connection to the server, and it only helps you in pvp lol
Hanrahan 2983 Share Posted August 17, 2013 Sure you can win a fight as a halfling! All you need is an Elven shortsword, a mithril shirt, and a magical ring that turns you invisible :D. Shortsword..Check..Mithril shirt..Check..I need to get that Ring Buffed.
Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted August 17, 2013 I've averaged 10-20 FPS for the entire two years I've been on this server. I'm a halfling as well and will likely lose most fights anyway which is why I'll simply have to talk my way out of conflict or try to flee. If a biggun draws a sword on me and I can't do either of the two, I'm a dead man whether I role-play it or PvP it. I have no problem with dying quickly, ingloriously and dropping all of my items the moment someone eyeballs me and decides they want to end my life. When I transitioned from being an orcish warrior to a halfling burglar I did so knowing that I put myself at such risk. Instead of click-click it's going to be w-w.
~Cave~ 11 Share Posted August 17, 2013 How long are you going to test this out? I need to know how long I'm going to have to stay away from any sort of interactions in case they kill me in three seconds and take all of my items for...
LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted August 17, 2013 Golly gee wilikers, I am outraged at this decision by the staff! I find it hard to realize that I can't backflip my way away from a sword's swing any longer... I can't fire an arrow accurately while I leap from a tree, and then land it with a perfect roll without injury! No longer can I survive buckets of oil being poured on me while several warriors stab me, and while arrows shoot into my body. I can't throw my dagger 30 meters into a moving target any more... This is just ridiculous. I wish you silly staff would let me continue to powergame, but it seems that there is no freedom on this server.

I need to know how long I'm going to have to stay away from any sort of interactions in case they kill me in three seconds and take all of my items for... If a character was going to kill your character, it was going to happen regardless of what the default form of fighting was ^^ Beware of shady fellows and do not walk the roads alone or unarmed! Or maybe develop a sly tongue and talk your way out of situations?

Benny_Fool 80 Share Posted August 17, 2013 My favorite moment ever was "Iforgottheirname jumps over the halfling." Powergaming does give you a warm feeling in your stomach.
Shar'ku/jenspelao 410 Share Posted August 17, 2013 This is logic? Now that pvp is default a halfling can just throw on iron armor and just kill a group of trained soldiers. A HALFLING. That never happens though, because halflings have common sense, I've fought halflings in pvp in the past, they freaking use shovels and no armor
spqrSancus 175 Share Posted August 17, 2013 ... Honestly, I'm an avid RP combat supporter. It allows for freedom, and sure some of us will PG, all of us have before, no matter if we've had BR's on us, or if we're hailed as one of the best combat RPers ever. It's a fact. It also meant that if there was lag (which seems to happen automatically for me on entering PvP, dropping my FPS to 3) I didn't have to give an OOC **** about if my comp was up to it or not. Now I do. Don't get me wrong. I'm honestly willing to try, provided that we are able to have at least two characters an account. I haven't been playing many combat chars lately anyhow, apart from my Graven, so... Maybe I'll like it at some point. Probably not. I'll try it out, but I won't say I like it. As I always must, it seems, I give in. Can the rest of you RP supporters try to as well?
Neri 3590 Share Posted August 17, 2013 That's crap man. And you know it. He could whip out an Iron sword and beat the snot out of him in 3 swings, take his stuff and walk off whistling a happy tune. Where's the point in Va's if that's all you have to do? Because you DO need a VA to do that? And you also need a minimum of RP. Nothing has changed in that regard. You couldn't just walk up to someone and *stab through heart with RP default, so why should that be allowed now? Use a little common sense please. Dohvi 622 Share Posted August 17, 2013 I don't quite understand this 4+ rule. Functionally that means if a mage walks around with 3 other mages anyone with a stone sword can shank them all. Indeed... If a regular person walks around with 2 friends up to the mage's college, the same result occurs. Is this, therefore, a hard and fast rule? Or is it one where the scenario dictates if it is to occur. This seems to have been completely ignored, but it raises valid points. The 4+ rule is extremely likely to be abused. If someone is looking for trouble, all they have to do is bring another three people with them and they can automatically force all mages to pvp. Sounds legi-- waaaiiit. Seriously? I realize the thought when deciding this was probably focused on two groups fighting, wherein there's only a single mage- but it basically puts an end to groups of mages fighting groups of soldiers. See what I'm getting at here?
monkeypoacher 8055 Share Posted August 17, 2013 As long as there is no armor sprinting, I feel PvP isn't all that bad. Please don't prove me wrong.
