Letter To Malin's People #5

Those letters appear again, upon the notice-boards of the Shining Princedom.  As per usual, the poster is unknown.

To whom it may concern-

A highly unfortunate circumstance has befallen us here in the Princedom.  This being, of course, the complete lack of an effective guard force.  Our streets have erupted in violence, myself seeing three brawls over the space of four weeks [[ assuming a "week" in RP is 12 hours, ]] and with no real punishments for offenders, this recurring and highly unfortunate state of events can only grow worse.  With all due respect to Prince Khel and Mister Bircalin, their efforts have failed.  Miserably.

Prince Khel's Wardens are a brave effort at revitalizing an old and venerable tradition, however the implementation has flopped.  His system has focused entirely on the defeating of A) outside threats, B) interior, deliberate menaces to the public safety, or C) Vague menaces to Anthos as a whole.  This means a great many Wardens are deployed to the far corners of the realm assisting locals and suchlike, however insofar no effort has been put into policing the streets of Luminaire.  In addition, I am presuming the number given upon the notice-board is correct, in which case the numbers of the Wardens are limited, to say the least.  Should the numbers be inaccurate, I heartily apologize to Prince Khel for misrepresenting his organization.

The Lumdrim, the presumed standard guard force, has more or less vanished.  My inquires about their Barracks and searches among the notice-boards of the city has unearthed nothing, nary a trance of where this organization vanished to.  Their offices are locked, their great underground Barracks echoes empty and is covered in dust, the notice-board in their hall appears three years out of date.  As of yet no response to the lack of policing has been found, however something must be done.  And quickly, lest the Princedom become the pit of vermin is is well on it's way to becoming.

A solution is evident in my mind, yet, however before I bring this idea to the attention of the general public I have quite a deal of research to complete, so I do hope the reading public may excuse some delay in my next writings.  Until then, I remain Yours Truly,

This Day and Every Day,

O. Sylvanus Treemail~

Happening upon the piece of writing, Bircalin's brow quivers in thought as he reads diligently, finally deciding to make his own response.

"Your concern is most certainly understood and noted, though I must ask you the time to evaluate the reasoning for my own 'miserable failure.'

When the Lumidrim was created, and recruitment opened, their effectiveness was already apparent. They were most certainly an effective force for the time that they had numbers. That, ironically, is the -core- reason the Lumidrim failed, Malinor's able populace refused to enlist. There were cries, just as your own, for a stronger and better military. Do not misinterpret what I mean here, either. The cries were entirely justified, as your own are. However, those that are actually capable of defending this nation, simply do not wish to. The few that do and could, enlisted in the Lumidrim almost instantaneously.
When the time came for us to defend our beloved Druids' Grove from the Northern threat, the sheer strength of their assault left many Lumidrim broken and thusly gave-up.

I devoted my entire time to developing the Lumidrim, llir. Their stocks were full-enough to arm the Empire of Oren, but they hadn't the Mali to fill the suits.
Until the day our Mali that truly wish to see Malinor thrive finally take-up arms and join the cause, there will never be an effective military.

I have served Malinor since it's budding days under High Prince Native, as his own and his wife (Malin rest her soul) High Princess Soriuss as their personal bodyguard. I then led the Vanguard once Princess Sythra joined the High Council, to which I effectively marched with six other Mali to defend the Humans from the notorious 'Galahar Purge.'

If the Mali wish to be defended, they better defend themselves first.

                                                                                                                                                                                   Good hunting,
                                                                                                                                                                            Bircalin Sturtart

Aerius reads the note before chuckling and continuing on "Shame the wardens aren't around anymore."

[[ In which case my points are even more relevant.

Confirmed- Baconthief has left.  Although I don't know that he isn't around in RP yet, so. . .http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/95836-all-things-must-end-goodbye-3-baconthief/

"Dear Malinor,

Give your potential recruits more incentive to join the guardian force, as you can see the guarantee you will be doing your nation proud and putting your life in harm's way doesn't cut it.

Just my two minas.

-Governor of Talaran, Art."
