Your View: The Most Pressing Issues

As someone who's new to Lord of the Craft, I can atest to some of these problems. I will bring up what RacingBrother said. I made my application and was accepted over a month ago. I logged on, and I spent about 2-3 hours looking for RP. I finally gave up, logged off, and forgot about the server. I went back to doing what I had been before logging on. The only reason I came back, though I don't regret my desicion, was because of an OOC issue on the server that I had been frequenting previously. The problem I see with Lord of the Craft, is how unwelcoming it is to new players. No I don't mean the player base, the community is great and welcoming, I mean the overall server. When I started off, I was very confused. The chat system is rather difficult to get, and even know I occasionally have trouble, and aside from that, short of trying to look through the forums and the wiki, knowing what channel to go to for help, and looking for specific places where RP occurs is a huge hassle. I literally had no idea, and if it wasn't for me forgetting to change my skin, having someone remind me, and than having me help me out after I logged back in, I would have been completely clueless. Even now, after about a week of playing, I still find it difficult to find Roleplay. Why? I think that there needs to be an overall hub to the server. Somewhere, where people can get teleports, or some beginning Roleplay. Possibly have us respawn in some sort of city? I've yet to find another Dwarf to Roleplay with. Also, another thing. Their needs to be more descriptions on something. I just found out what the Wild Docks were, or, at least I think I know. Yes their is plenty of info on the forums, but frankly, they are way too confusing. And I've been navigating forums for what, 3 years now? What I might also suggest, is a sub forum, or even better, a tab on the top of the screen, next to Home, Apply, and such. Have that lead to a bunch of stickied threads where people can't post on/make new threads, and/or a completely different page. Just some starter guides on where to go to find Roleplay, how to gather specific materials, and a guide to the forums; because frankly? I have no idea what to do with the forums. I've yet to find a guild and I'm not sure on how Forum RP is done? Does LotC do FRP's? Or is the forum just for specific cities, guilds, updates, etc. So, to sum it up, make navigation and explanation easier for new members, and make it so that their is a bit more of a sort of "hub" for new and old players. Just my two cents as someone new to LotC.

It's great to hear the perspective of a brand new player. The issue with the RB hubs is unfortunately down to the map itself, and we're solving that with the upcoming map we've called '4.0'. I'm gonna have a look at working on a page like what you detailed here:- it's also worth noting that we've also got a website area that lists all the Features if LotC in detail also that you'll be able to access to get assistance on things.

I'm going to see about getting them dealt with quickly, and then the other issues may have to wait for 4.0 to be solved. I'm glad that you chose to come back, and I hope you stay around with us! If you ever need any help, just pop me a message (or any other member of staff).

One thing I think is pretty important is the addition of new GM's. I know every modreq is presumably getting done with relative haste, which is awesome! However, is it sustainable? Things which I've heard from GM's suggest that a few GM's are doing quite the brunt of the work, and it seems that some have become incredibly strapped for time as is. Likewise, I rarely ever see more than one GM online, even at peak times. Personally, I think it would both make things easier for the other GM's, and keep modreqs getting done on a consistent basis if more GM's were added. Of course, my view of the GM Team can only be so good, as the team is not incredibly transparent, so I'm forming this opinion based upon the words of a few GM's, and what I've personally witnessed.

Also, I will probably agree with the sentiment that a professions plugin is more important than the magic plugin, although I'd like to see both relatively soon :P

Magic and Profession plugins would be great.  Being a fairly new player to the server, having professions would allow people to RP gaining experience in an area, the magic plugin would allow people to utilize it in their RP (including Villain RP) for instance by allowing you to cast an "unlock" spell for instance to unlock magically locked doors as part of the RP.

Oh yea, another thing. While the Nexus combat is really cool, it is really laggy. It made PvP literally impossible on my computer without Optifine, and even with Optifine, the skills like block, dodge, ripclose, etc, are allmost useless. Now, I play on a 6-9 year old Windows XP Dell, so it may be different for others; yet some tweaks do need to be made. I haven't experienced much in the way of server lag but it does sometimes occur; though with a server of this size both population and plugin wise, that is to be expected. So I'd really just suggest tweaking the Nexus Combat to make it just a bit less laggy. Though, I know almost nothing about Minecraft Coding so whether that is possible or not, I have no idea.

We're gonna be needing some new Human players pretty soon, unless Oren is meant to be a prop nation as most non-human players and administrators intend it.  I think that issue alone outranks any of the aforementioned, considering the shameful events that have transpired over the past twelve hours.

Snip my post, call me a troll, flamer, etc.  It's a pressing issue, whether you want to hear it or not.

Get some actual active admins that give a damn about the server, in my opinion the entire administration team should be revamped only keeping Danny and Tythus, Tythus for obvious reasons and Danny due to the fact he is like a real life politician, he tells the community what they want to hear and even if these promises aren't always followed he is good at keeping people generally calm

Vanilla pvp with proffesions plugin or something like that and revamp the admin team like austin said, you honestly just need to watch the raid video to see how sloppy the plugin is.

Two things.

One: Add some portals or something in-between the towns, its way to far away to walk.

Two: With this next antagonist, don't release any lore about it at all. Keep it a secret. I mean, I didn't read the antagonist lore, and I had a really good roleplay with another antagonist, and if I knew about the antagonist, it would probably make it worse. Why would you be scared of something you completely understand?

Lag. The past few weeks, the lag on the server has been terrible, to the point where I am constantly crashing. And I can operate everything else fine... I just can't stay on the server for more than... 5 minutes at the most.

More big events. Adding some more items would also be cool.

Hmm... Maybe if we could just reduce the amount of LOOC nonsense these days. All I see during RP outside of Malinor is people arguing about who will win the fight or how much the item should be sold for. Just RP goddangit! Who cares if you lose a battle once or twice? That is how RP goes!
