I like mountains just because it gives us a nice place to be nestled in. True dat about the Elders.

How would we decide who's on the council? How many people do you think would be on it?

Well now that I think of it the Elder system does work. But for a council system there could be 4-5 players on it (hopefully we have an increase in halflings by then, if not we should not have a council system). To decide, we as a community can vote IG. And then one person reads the ballots of each halfling and the person is voted into council. Meetings could be done VIA forum rp in case of complications of not having a skype (like myself) and it would be good to keep it RP, allowing for other halflings to say their concerns about the community. We could have a council meeting every IC year.

I really don't think we need government change too much.

Keep the elders and just make it so all halflings can vote/tell their opinions and have good sway.

We already have this but it's small, and decreasing by the days.

A council of the most trusted players make all the decisions.

I agree with this. the most active members should be a part of the council. We should even have a area for meetings in-game. But while this may be difficult, I also like the idea of like two elders, and they need to be the most active out of all of us.

Also, for any who are interested, i still need more support for my idea in the lore section. If you have any other ideas you want to add please do. Who knows, the new area may have a school for ale evocation if it gets accepted fast enough

A change of the guard would be nice. And is this pumpkin order going to play any role in the government?

What pump-I mean maybe. We'll have to see how the pumpkin rolls.

I feel a small group appointed to defend the farthing by the sheriff would do better than some super-secretive halfling organization. Not enough players for it, and they generally don't do very well.

Can we bring back a gatehouse for Fredegar. Just something to introduce the entrance to lenfarthing. We could give out some cake, bread, or some ale as they walk in

Alright, here's a little map I drew up as an idea. I'm not really sure of the size the ig map will be so we may not be able to fit all this in. Colored text corresponds with color on the map. Sorry if some of the words are hard to read.

Inn or central place of meeting, probably with area outside to serve as a town center/ rp hub

Dock's Docs (#Neverforget)

Area for tents and festival happinings

Shops and such for halflings that want to play merchant characters, also for the brewery and public buildings

Central halfling statue or landmark, something to admire and that makes the town stand out

Burrows, may not be able to fit that many in (yes, I know they look like turds)

Large signature halfling farms

Secret base, for an antag like group belonging exclusively to the halflings (should be good for events and such)

Dangerous valley that may be heavily wooded, caves with trolls, bears ect...

Random trees and guff, to make the new village feel secluded like a halfling village should be but also not block the village from the main road too much. Possible room for expansion of needed.

The border of the halfling lands, may need to change in size depending on changes.

Edit:

Great idea, this would be a good 'advertisement' making sure people know where lenfarthing is.

If I'm not mistaken the gate still works and you can run it whenever you like. If you fix it up we'll let you do whatever as long as it's reasonable and you tell us.

Aris' map does look really really good, but we could bring some of the fields in between the village and the outside so people have to at least walk past it to get into the village. Just an aesthetic notion.

Well the gatehouse is gone, but in the new village may i help with the construction of one to make it look very welcoming...... I could even attach it to a burrow (my new burrow in the new village) to make it more accessible and for welcoming gifts to be fresh in stock

That could definitely work, the dark green just represents foliage or other stuff like farms to keep the village feeling secluded.
