  1. This lore has been Accepted! I swear this went through a vote. Either way, knowing that the zombies come from monk magic is metagaming, there isn't a way to tell.
  2. You do not need lore to roleplay dragon wotship if you don't expect something back. And there are dragons, they are mostly animals thought. Fly around and eat cattle kind of dragons, though I think they still shoot fire.
  3. Can someone name any evil character in LOTC right now that isn't the Oogie Man? And I do mean characters, not event characters.

No seriously saying they needed more women and that it was a sexist institution.

  4. I'm sorry to say that this lore has been Denied. There already exists a magic which can somewhat control blood, which is blood magic.
  5. I'm sorry to say that this lore has been Denied. Besides the Dark Ego, which appears to be a lot like tainting that can be done with necromancy, most of the effects of this magic aren't very extensive and adding a new type of world energy will only complicate the lore more.
  6. I'm sorry to say that this lore has been Denied. Werewolves and vampires are something that has to be extremely innovative in lore to be accepted in LOTC, as was the case of the Red Imp lore. This lore I'm afraid, is very generic.
  7. Can anyone link me the new war rules? I can't find them...

      That's the one, thank you.

  8. Added a tl;dr from an IC point of view, it just says what characters could know about zombies. Pretty much zombies are dead bodies, they can take a long time to become a zombie, the zombies are too destroyed to figure out who it was before, and ye... no one IC would ever know it was the monks doing it, probably not even the monks would know. Adding this here because I'm bored: Ideas for roleplay scenarios that can be had from this lore: Graves opened from the inside. Events where lost named, or special items can return to the players by death of a zombie. Religion or practice of burning the dead because they might turn to zombies. Investigations on the creation of zombies. Gathering of a whole lot of bodies and letting them turn into zombies then releasing them inside a town, because evil mad man with a graveyard number of corpses in his basement in the middle of Petrus.
  9. That's true, they can only evoke in their "rawest form." Thing is, ice and snow is a raw form of water, it's naturally concurrent, it rains and it snows, and there are places where ice formation is the rawest of water's form and it's liquid state only happens when you heat up ice and snow. Everything you said it's true, though I don't like the "each evocation is it's own archtype" and I think it's a bit wrong. Non the less, that is why things like metal can not be evoked unless in ore state (which is mostly useless), and crystals can only have natural forms (which means no blade like, or armor like). Rocks on the other hand, since they have so many forms, you can do spikes and 'walls' and things like that. Ice is about the same, you can create spikes, rocks of ice, 'walls' of ice, and so on, because they are natural occurring. Btw, things like lava and acid can't be evoked because while training the mage would be hurt and died from his own evocations. This is the IC reason why you can't create an OP evocation.
  10. This is actually not true, normally, and through the lore of evocation, you should create ice directly and not actually freeze water. Evocation is the creation of elements thought the void, bringing water from the void and then freezing it is actually just a very wasteful way of doing it. Water mages which have studied ice and snow instead of water are able to evoke ice yet not water, it really depends on how a mage goes in training. It is normal that a water mage learns normal water evocation before going into ice evocation, but that's just a way to learn.
  11. Could a GM update the server rules with the new stuff? The War Rules need a link or a spoiler in the post, and then there is the new rule concerning the use of the "new Standard." Adding the MC change rule (the one that says you can't change a MC name into something bad) also should be added. The rules were placed into a thread for quick change and adding. https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/123087-the-official-server-rules/

Forgot the new magic rules. Should be added that all players now need to learn magic IC. Though "you can't break lore" might fit into it.

  12. Is this lore still in WIP?
  13. Don't forget that you can update the wiki with history, tales, characters, animals, events and so on. http://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/

  14. Yes, that would work... If you want to trade not having zombies with being revived.
  15. Well, no one would ever know it's the monks doing it, I mean, it's happened for so long... could be that even the monks do not know what they would be doing. There are a few problems with that, as example is the fact that Iblees had no powers, none whatsoever in the lands of Asulon and Anthos, and the middle realms. This is true, it doesn't need a real answer, but that doesn't mean it's not nice to have one. Of course this lore would not stop undead zombies, necromancer zombies, blood mages creations, etc etc. It would just be the explanation for the normal spawning zombies and skels, which has been bugging me since Asulon. Zombies and Skels had lore in Aegis, they were the creation of Iblees powers, but after that... ye... they became loreless and just weird in the game. At least this would explain their existence. It might lead to events as well. I wouldn't ever agree that anyone could discover that it was the monks doing the zombie creation, I mean, how would you know? Not even the monks would. Yet, it might create events and happenings where this lore is used, such as zombies coming out of graveyards, a corpse left someone becoming a zombie one day, maybe a culture could start burning all the death to not have the zombies show up, maybe a graveyard of a mass grave could be deem unsafe area, etc etc. It would take far longer than a few minutes for them to become zombies (I don't know if you mean it like that though), more of weeks, months or years.
  16. Are you people forgetting that Iblees was locked somewhere for all of Asulon, Anthos and quite a lot of Athera? And even now we have no idea where he is, or what he's doing, and the Undead are gone, so ye... Either way, I wrote this for fun, like most lores I do.
  17. (by AtomiccircuS, Deviantart.com) Throughout the nights in Athera and in the dark spots of the realm, undead beings rise and fall with the coming of light. They do not come in groups, seeming to appear almost randomly, always in dark places as the light seems to harm them. They aren't part of any particular group, so where do they come from? These creatures of the night have interesting origins. Their bodies are the bodies of those which die. Humans, orcs, dwarves, haflings, elves and khas. The bodies are decomposed or completely rotten off leaving only the skeletons. As everyone in Athera knows, the monks try and save as many mortals as they can from death, and they may do this without using the body pf the deceaced. That explains where all the zombies and skeletons come from, but what creates them? When a person is revived, the powers of the Triumvirate work on the soul. How it does it and in what way is not understood. Yet the Triumvirate pays a price for the reviving. The creation of a new almost perfect body for the soul, and redirecting the soul to the temple causes a sort of paradox in the realm. A man has died, yet he is still living. This in turn causes the dead body of the revived to re-gain life as well, yet with a dead body and without a soul. This in turn makes them rather brainless, but also a bit dangerous, as they attack living being without reason. Most of these zombies appear with only clothes, without armor, as armor is something valuable that is normally stolen, yet there are the exceptions around, the zombies which still walk with armor, and sometimes weapons. Only the bodies of those revived by the monks have their old body turn into one of these creatures, it is a price the Triumvirate is willing to pay to keep the people of the mortal realm alive. Once a mortal permanently dies, it's body behaves like a normal dead body, it stays unmoving, decaying and dead. The reason why no mortal ever sees himself as a zombie, is simply because the zombie becomes far too decayed and changed that not even the former owner of the body recognises it. The body could as well takes weeks to years to gain it's undead life, which means it's decaying stage could be quite advanced, and the people might not even notice that bodies are missing from graveyards... On the other hand if all bodies went to graveyards, the realm of Athera would not have space for towns. tl;dr Monks reviving people makes their former bodies into zombies. tl;dr from an IC point of view Dead bodies turn to zombies, it can take weeks, months or years. The body of a zombie is too destroyed to tell who it was before death. No one knows why they appear.
