  2. The Jackal Sect is the field unit of the organization known as the A C S. Tasked with the collection or destruction of anomalies and artifacts deemed hostile or potentially damaging to the descendants. Oriented around event and ‘anti-dark’ RP, we strive for heavy character building, IC research / investigation, risk / consequence and militant RP. At this time, we have little to no interest in the political climate of the server and have no intent to really get involved. --- Guild History --- Figures of note Aldrik - RancidHound - Responsible for guild funds, contract agreements and training assignments. Guild head and direct line to A C S. Lachlan - WeaselMcWeasul - Second in command, typically takes part in initiation, training and field assignments. Selwyn - Eisenherzog - Next to ascend, typically takes part in initiation and field assignments. --- Recruitment Traditionally, members of the Jackal Sect were assigned to the guild following a crime worthy of the death sentence or exile. Currently, the guild imports orphans and disgruntled youth from Hag’s Spire alongside standard recruitment of the willing and ready. The young and ill-prepared typically face 5 years of training prior to partaking in field service. --- IC Recruitment – Approach us at New Hilden.     The Swamp

    The Swamp Host to a collective of undying, gigantic disease carrying vermin, vodniks and other unseen entities, the swamp will be an event ground that escalates or de-escalates on the basis of the actions taken within it. What can players do to help or hinder? Think about this critically. What inhabits the space and how one could legitimately go about this? I have no intent to draw out a step-by-step for players to cling to and would, instead, prefer to approach everything in RP through RP. If at any point and time you have intent to explore or interact with the swamp, simply toss myself a message on Discord or in game. This post will mostly be serving as a means of posting escalations and de-escalations. -- I can be reached at RancidHound#1670 on discord Or at RancidHound in game Escalation as of 6 / 1 / 2019 Blood Fever has spread to a fair amount of Undying. – Effects unknown. Animals are now being effected by what is reanimating the dead. Vodnik population swells. Many have been seen leaving the swamp, seeking out more plentiful food. Post crypt raid outcome – Many undying have been awoken in the region. Rumors of artifacts within the crypts swell attracting bandits, grave robbers and the like.

  7. Fortifications Keep them within roleplay build and landscar compliance. Kill traps, indefinite traps, melee murderholes(ankle biters), soulsand fields, fields of literal fire and floating builds should all be disallowed. Warclaim edits Allow next to nothing once the warclaim is posted. Castles and roleplay hubs should be built with defenses in mind. --- Implement structural damage consequences to deter illogical tower builds that force people up ridiculous narrow passages. To give input on Chaotikal’s suggestion, this wouldn’t do anything to castle meta. It’d just make the ‘meta pick’ stronger and further imbalance the game in favor of those types of builds.

    Bounty Related

    Upcoming Ambient Concept With the duration of the war, a currently unspecified location will play host to a plethora of relatively simple bounties. The bounties will, however, require an understanding of what the creatures are and how they function. I advise anyone that’s taking the bounties on to gather information prior to engaging the creature(s). On each Saturday three rolls will be done to create and distribute the bounties. The value and functions of these rolls will decide what’s faced and how many of the entities are faced. Once placed, bounties are to be taken care of as quickly as possible. Much akin to a sickness, ignoring the issue(s) won’t just make it go away and things could get much worse leading to simple bounties being considerably harder and bounties potentially playing into or effecting one another. --- Partial wins and failure conditions. Partial Win A partial win is when the beast(s) or target(s) of the bounty are ‘killed’ in a way that is not permanent or the entity gets away. This can potentially make the follow-up event much harder depending on what’s been done and how it has been done. Be thorough in your pursuits and, once again, do some research. Planning and preparation are absolutely essential. A partial win will result in little or no pay depending on outcome. Failure Should the party be wiped, forced to retreat or simply fail secondary set conditions, the bounty will escalate. The target(s) may grow in number, acquire new materials for use or simply mutate after feeding on fresh meat. Should a secondary set condition be present, the party will be made aware prior to setting out on the event itself. --- The bounties will start being posted this evening and will be available, situation permitting, the 26th and onward. Happy hunting and remember, your actions or lack of actions have consequence. As always, these events will be done with CRP.

  11. With this warclaim resolved, I think it is absolutely essential that war rules be redefined and set into stone. This half-measure ‘figure it out as you go’ nonsense ain’t it.

  13. This argument is fielded in the sense that a shovel can never be more than a shovel. It can be used as a blunt object, typically has a semi sharp edge but it will not, at any point and time, become something other than a shovel simply because others will it so. Doing the same thing with magic grounds it in reality and makes it very obvious when someone is powergaming or misusing their granted power. The intent when folks say this isn’t that the item should be weakened and ground down to nothing. It’s just that magic really shouldn’t be T H E answer to literally everything in any given situation.
  14. Swords and the human body (Regardless of the mutations present) are real world things we can actively reference and research. We know, for a fact, when we’ve been powergamed because of real world knowledge of their limitations. When someone does something sketchy that the creator of the magic didn’t consider, it quickly becomes a gray area that needs further refinement or, potentially, nerfing to remove the potential exploit.

Magic requires digging into each and every particular piece in use during combat to understand the redlines of what you’re facing and it’s extremely common for people to act OOCly offended when you, one, mention that you’re gonna take a sec to pull up the lore and two, call them on their RP when it’s typically outlined in the lore itself in regards to what they’ve done wrong if they’ve done anything wrong. Nevermind the magic blending, positioning and function of entities summoned, understanding of general sightline requirements and flame temperature debates. Freeform magic, I feel, is too loose and ill defined to be responsibly used. I do honestly feel that magic should be 100% refined down to spells and spells 100% refined to set functions with set drawbacks to the extent of being set tools for set situations. They should be no different than swords, knives, axes, torches and so forth.

  20. So, what’s the event environment like these days? How do folks hop on events and such now?

      i havent seen a single event since they revamped the stuff.... players run the events now.

  21. Pistols, burns to hand and weapon disabled for the duration of that conflict. ‘RIfle’, blinded and stunned for next emote. Weapon disabled for duration of conflict. High Powder and Blunderbuss, shrapnel to hands, face. Serious injuries suffered and unable to continue conflict without tending to wound. Weapon disabled for duration of conflict. Give item misfire warnings on the item itself for both the attacker and victim.
  22. As for the time, is this 15 minutes IRL or during instances of actual RP? Regardless, I’d suggest that the firearm must be loaded during the RP itself and should be fine for the duration of that particular conflict. Forbid /w emotes for loading. As for the misfire and what it does, I can’t say in good faith that everyone will have the patience to sit down and reference the guide when disputes arise in Roleplay. I’d say simplify it to simple pass / fail for sake of ease.
