I hope by now it is clear that most of the ‘toxicity’ that comes around player bases from their leadership is mostly derived from staff pushing the constant need to be on the server at a very consistent play-style, otherwise there is punishment that comes for not having as many people online as your neighbours. Which causes discontent between the leaders of the settlement who wants his little town to flourish and the residents who simply want to have a fun time on a server whilst also living their life outside of the server. Rules and punishments that revolve around time and activity only end up hurting what they are built to support.

I find unfair dumping all responsability on staff members, who at the end of the day are still players. The main problem is the desire to win against other players, and lotc being inherently competitive instead of cooperative.
To make an example, instead of a staged theater duel between two actors, LotC is an american football match.

Community Staff Feedback; Advise your members that if they are taking an application to double check the timezone the applicant is from, cause having someone who is in a completely different timezone and being unable to even have meaningful interaction is disheartening.

@MamaBearJade But it can often end up longer that way. If some European got checked by an Aussie or vice versa, the whole pending->accepted process could take the best part of two days, since besides the normal wait for it to be checked, the Euro also wouldn’t see the Aussie’s pending post for like 10 hours and the Aussie wouldn’t see the changes for the same length of time. I doubt it’s common enough an issue to change the system around, but food for thought I guess.
