  1. (( Congrats on perma-killing such a long-lived character, and one that others loved just as much as you (probably) did. That takes balls. Personally, I think it's good to kill of characters eventually. Better Sherlock Holmes dying at Reichenbach falls than solving mystery after mystery ad nauseum. Always leave them wanting more! ))
  2. Vulnir scratches his head. "She looks sort of magical. I wonder if she can conjure me a bag of holding..."
  3. Vulnir adds 150 minas to the bounty. "I guess I know where that smoldering hole in my roof came from."
  4. What is it you seek me to create? (Include materials needed, and please be descriptive!): A 2 meter long theorbo with the name "Matilda" engraved on it. ((A named stick.)) Will you be providing the materials? (This is nay necessary, however additional fees may be charged): No How much do you deem this item worth?: 107 1/2 minas Do you accept that you may not get exactly what you asked for?: It can be slightly less than 2 meters in length if need be. When would you ideally like to have this item?: Within this elven week would be great. ((IMPORTANT: I would like the item to be named <"Matilda"> (with quotes) and the description to be <This musical instrument is a massive, 2-meter-long great-lute.> or if that is too long, simply <A massive, 2-meter-long great-lute.>))
  5. Vulnir sits in the study of the Haumel longhouse, staring down at a blank parchment. In his hand he holds a quill, which he taps against the desk incessantly, tap tap tap. Finally, the words come to him. He dips the quill in the nearby ink pot and starts composing a ballad about the battle in which he had taken part.
  6. Several posters are attached to noticeboards all over Malinor. Should one chance to notice one, and should one take the time to read it, it would read: "Magic Users of Anthos! Heed my request! I am looking to purchase a very specific item. You see, I fancy myself a bard, and my instrument of choice is the theorbo. However, the theorbo is a teensy-weensy bit larger than the average instrument, and carrying it all over the realm is getting to be a real pain in the neck! Here's a sketch of me playing my theorbo (I named it Matilda): So, in order to rectify the problem, I need a skilled magic user to craft a very special item for me. What is it? Well, simply put, it's a bag that's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. The outside should be about the size of a normal lute, maybe smaller. Make the inside big enough to hold my theorbo. Oh, and make it so that my theorbo is the only thing you can put in it, will you? I don't want to lose anything important inside of it! Pay negotiable." -------OOC Line------- So basically I thought it would be amusing if my character pulled out a massive instrument from a too-small bag every time he played a song, Mary Poppins style. So, did a little research, found the theorbo, and there you go. I thought this would fit under the purview of domestic magic. The specification that that particular theorbo is the only thing that can be put in it is there to prevent aboos.
  7. A simple note is submitted. "Ellir'vuln Haumel volunteers for the construction effort." (( Skype: weather.lotc ))
  8. Two envelopes are left in Khel's and Titania's tents. They each contain a letter and several sketches. "Dearest Mali'lumi of the High Council, I, Ellir'vuln Haumel do hereby pledge servitude to the Shining Princedom of Malinor and to its people. In the interest of serving my fellow mali in these times of trouble, I would humbly offer to contribute what skills I have as a carpenter to the construction efforts. Enclosed are a few drafts I have drawn up. Signed, Ellir'vuln of the Line of Haumel" There are a few architectural drafts included with the letter: (( A showcase build of elven-looking architecture. Less extravagant options are available (and preferred :P) ))

  10. Vulnir takes out the parchment he found back at camp as the cart clack-clack-clacked down the road. "Hmm... if I need shelter on my way back, maybe I'll stop in and try my luck." He puts the parchment away again and snaps the reins, urging the mule to go faster.
  11. I came here to build stuff that had a story behind it, and explore stuff people built that had a story behind it. And RP.
  12. ((As for the sibling idea, I'm on board. Dwarven cultural festival is a go.))
  13. MC Name: weatherman321 RP Name: Ellir'vuln (Vulnir) Taliamonn ((surname to be retconned to Haumel if accepted)) Familial Relation: Cousin of Asthil Brief Description: Ellir'vuln's immediate family members are mali of the earth, and he has been tilling soil and raising orchards to make his living for as long as he can remember. Where Ellir'vuln excels, however, is hunting. He took a shining to the arts of the bowman and the tracker as a child. His godfather, a well-respected forester, noticed the young mali'ame's talents, and took him under his wing. It was from him that Ellir'vuln learned to have the utmost reverence for any creature of Malin's forest whose life he would take, and to make use of almost every part of the animal, never being wasteful. Under his godfather's tutelage, he learned how to live off the land, and became proficient with a bow. His skills might have earned him respect within the community... if he could blend into the community as well as he could blend into foliage. Ellir'vuln was named 'friend of the fox,' because of his tawny coloring, but he quickly earned himself a less distinguished nickname: Vulnir, meaning trickster. The young mali'ame was always breezier and more carefree than the rest of his family, preferring to stroll through the woods, skipping rocks and playing the flute, over doing chores and solemnly reading the ancient books with the others. Worse, he enjoys nothing more than seeing the looks on the faces of the overly-serious when they fall victim to a particularly devilish prank. Having reached adulthood, however, he has found himself increasingly concerned with the plight of his fellow mali, and with how he might lend a hand. He would join the Lumidrim if he had any skill with a sword whatsoever (and if his brashness outweighed his cowardice). In the meantime, though, he continues to ply his trade as a hunter and, occasionally, as a bard.
  14. People don't need to use massive emotes if they don't want to. It's a game of roleplaying, not a writing contest. The emote in the OP looks fine to me.
  15. Vulnir emerges from his dingy servant's quarters by the gates, his sleepwear consisting merely of hid underthings, carrying his chamber pot. In the distance, he briefly spies an immense figure lurking in the streets before it lumbers into an alleyway, out of sight. He thinks he saw a glint of metal in the faint light coming from a nearby window. As he scratches his bare chest with dirty fingernails, he wonders, "Hmm... could that have anything to do with that big ol' arm I saw down in the laboratory...?" He only thinks about this for a second though. He shrugs, and goes off to bury the contents of the chamber pot in Valmuel's garden, where it will hopefully create a stink of indeterminate origin for a few days.
  16. Vulnir reads the poster and laments the fact that he does not have the minas for such a fine bow. He solemnly wishes that one of his fellow foresters is able to beat out the mere collectors in this auction, that the bow might see use.
  17. Holy crap. That is an incredibly detailed and well-thought-out guide. Excellent resource for those who want to create a different type of RP (and a type I wouldn't mind seeing more of). Might I suggest though adding some example pictures of the different kind of ships? For example, I was unsure of what a fore-aft sail was for a while there (the triangular ones, right?) All in all though, props for taking the time to write this.
  18. Is someone on it? Otherwise I can make an unofficial thread for it. I think.
  19. Is there a place where things like recipes for custom items and plugins (like alchemy or tea) are compiled for easy viewing? I only just today learned you could craft mailboxes, and there is either something wrong with that, or there's something wrong with my forum/wiki reading ability.
  20. I've been thinking about something like this, but I don't know. I'd like to hear opinions from members of the event team first. I'd hate to saddle them with a potentially time-consuming, boring job.
  21. If people really care, they can just replace the word 'Christmas' with 'Winter Solstice' in their heads if they encounter it in RP. From what I can tell, Anthos whatever this planet is called should have such an astronomical event, and Christmas in the real world used to be a pagan celebration of the winter solstice before it was re-engineered by the Church.
