TAKES FOUR EMOTES, CAN’T PIERCE CHAINMAIL? What is this, the Wood Elf buff patch?

@SquakHawk What I question is the range of most magics compared to these new ranged-weapon balances. Some of these spells have ranges listed which seem much shorter than the range of bows and crossbows at 45 blocks. I think shooting someone from 45 blocks away is insane, that’s outside of some render distances and outside of #rp channel ranges.

These spells seem to outclass crossbows, and they are certainly more destructive than a single bolt. You can say that a crossbow can kill someone in three emotes, but it won’t, not if they have any amount of armor or awareness they are going to be shot.

@DISCOLIQUID They outclass crossbows but also take stamina, a bit longer, and it’s also really kind of subjective for 2/3 of those linked spells on if they actually outclass crossbows. I’d argue the third one does for sure, the other two it rather depends on circumstances.
Crossbows can be shot infinite times and be used by a man in plate armor, whereas voidal mages currently cannot perform in any armor whatsoever, or even hold a sword as they cast, and their spells can only be cast a few times before they’ll be sweating and hardly able to stand. The emotes/damages may make them “superior” to crossbows but all in all I’d rather use a 4 emote blunt crossbow bolt than practice void magic. Catch me?
As for crossbows, a glance over the posts just say it depends on where you hit with them for the most part. And then certain different crossbows mean different things. I don’t find much of an issue imo
