Halder Tarnley looks for a knowledgeable person to ask them what "hobbits" and "pure-halflings" are.

Idk where else to put this. What is the procedure for gaining plots of land? Would it be possible to claim as part of the village the stretch of beach on the east? Then we could finish that dock, and (more importantly, at least for me whose house faces the water) mobs wouldn't be spawning on my front lawn and possibly wandering into the village.

Getting added to the Storage Burrow [ooc?]
Ardelenia replied to Ardelenia's topic in Completed Support
Thank you @Kowaman for putting this in the correct place and @Larry Shortoak for telling me who the elders are and adding me to the burrow. I guess I tried to ask Moochael to add me once or twice, and some other people at various points said they would ask in the halfling chat but maybe they forgot or got overlooked? It doesn't really matter. I don't currently have Skype. -
Hello. I'm sorry for having to make a post about this, but I was unsure which players are currently in positions of responsibility that I could send a message to instead. After pretty much a month here in Axios and multiple attempts (direct and indirect) to be added I still am blocked by a magical spell. Could this please be remedied? Thank you (and sorry again for what strikes me as not the best way to ask this), Ardelenia

After hearing the news of his former soon-to-be neighbor, Halder Tarnley would begin mentioning to other halflings around the village that perhaps a road should be named in memory of Larry.

Halder relaxes in his comfortable library, reading a copy of the newspaper. The next day, he slips a sheet of parchment under Master Baldrick's door, inquiring if this is to be a monthly or yearly paper, and if yearly will it always be on ((whichever month aligns with thursday)).

Oh, I didn't realize these were skins. I was assuming just like renamed helmets. If you want I can try to make it myself; I'm not that good but have a little experience with skins as well.

are those the only options? in that case I'll take a tricorne, otherwise I would like a slouch hat (like the Australian army, with one side pinned up)

Young Benildas goes up near the front of the stage and says, "Sorry ta be off-topic, Mister Fumble, but while we're talkin' 'bout organizations, is this Brotherhood o' Shovels thing real? Or is it another bunch of bad people tryin' ta take over the Dale?"

Benildas, with no thoughts of joining these strange belligerent halflings, wonders what their "idealistic views and dogmas" are, other than terrorizing people.

[Ooc] What Do You Want To See Out Of The Halflings?
Ardelenia replied to LaCabra (Soda)'s topic in Vailor OOC Archive
This isn't directly related to the thread, and I suppose it might be easier in the summer when there are more people on, but the halflings need a better resource for new players. There are some great threads about the creation of halfling characters and what halflings are all about, but I didn't have anything to do after deciding to make a halfling. It took 4-5 days of wandering around the town until i finally met supersodapops who gave me a start towards actually joining the village. -

The Halfling Recruiting Thread
Ardelenia replied to Valon (Yokey)'s topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Could the different families say a little thing about themselves, to help people like me decide? -
Hello, I would like to create a halfling character as a child. I was wondering if I could get some advice on a (sur)name to choose, if someone is looking to have a little halfling or something like that. I would rather not be an orphaned halfling! Thank you, Ardelenia

The Ildician Order
Ardelenia replied to Snake Plissken's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Eagerly following Eddard's advice, Ardelenia fills out a letter as soon as he has placed a chair in his new house. "Name - Ardelenia Benildas Turambar Age - 19 Blood/Race - Adunian Clan - The most likely nonexistent Clan Turambar Combat Experience - Minor fighting during various attacks of the Scourge, but no formal training/military service. What I know, I learned out of desperation on the field of battle. Crimes - I should hope none." -
Out-Of-Character Information What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - ardelenia How old are you?: - 15 What time-zone do you live in?: - CST (CDT right now) Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Yes, Dungeons & Dragons, various RP board games my friends and I invented Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - No Have you applied to this server before? (Please link past applications): - No How did you hear about us?: - I was searching for LOTR RP servers, and found this server. After I clicked on it, I discovered that it wasn't LOTR but looked pretty cool. I've been observing as a wandering soul for a while now but finally decided to apply. What do you think the server will be like? - I think it will be very fun, since all of the people that I have seen seem very dedicated to roleplaying. It will probably be a little confusing at first, though. Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes. What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - I agree most with the rule that swearing should be limited, or be in character. I sometime get annoyed with people who swear constantly, but it could be interesting to hear people curse in RP manners. Although I have observed some people who don't really follow this I shall certainly try to. I also like the rule that (while you obviously can't be racist as a person) you can have a racist character. Whether or not you're allowed to dislike a race could change the outcome of an interaction drastically. Definitions What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is when you take on attributes of a character, such as their dialect and movement. To role-play, you need to think about how the character would react and make decisions. What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is when you role-play by doing something outside of a person's capabilities. This could mean acting on information the character would not know or using something unlikely to have, for example. What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is when you try to guide a the role-play plot in a certain direction to your goal. You force or coerce the other players into following your plan. In-Character Information What’s your character called?: - Ardelenia Benildas Tibrus Turambar "the Rambler", son of Bryant. He may allow friends to call him Ard, Ardel, and occasionally Ben (short for the middle name). ((For a name to be displayed in minecraft, just Ardelenia Turambar is fine.)) What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Adunian What sex are they?: - Male How old are they?: - 19 Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): - Ardelenia Benildas Turambar was born to Adunian parents on the first day of The Amber Cold in 1440, near Abresi. His father died of disease about a month after Ardelenia turned three. His mother also died of disease about five months after her husband. With these unfortunate events, Ardelenia was left an orphan. His parents were of the upper middle class; his father was a merchant. They left him with a reasonable amount of money and property, and he had learned his name well. He also knew that his parents wore a blue, green, and light blue tartan. They had taught him of their Adunian heritage and of clans, informing him that Clan Turambar had always been small and removed from the rest of Adunia. They never explained, though, why they were not with the rest of their people. When Ardelenia was orphaned, he was taken in collectively by a small group of common folk in the city with whom he was friends. They were not bandits or anything, just various lower or middle class soldiers, craftsmen, etc. They were like a special society and were committed to taking in people who needed help. Ardelenia grew up among these people as a bit of a wanderer. He stayed mostly in the city and adjacent land, but occasionally would travel around Anthos, doing whatever little jobs he could find, or sometimes just exploring. Unfortunately for him, he never found the Adunian people, other than a few he encountered on the road or back in Abresi. When Ardelenia was born, he had only three names, so his acquisition of Tibrus as a second middle name merits a little explanation. When he was younger, he had a penchant for tripping into rivers, puddles, and other things with water in them. One night, when his balance was particularly bad, a drunk friend proposed that he be called Tibrus to reflect this trait. Although he probably meant to say something involving trip, the name stuck and soon the "society" began referring to Ardelenia as Tibrus (sometimes). Ardelenia lived a pretty happy life in Anthos, though it was only 17 years, relying on his inherited wealth when he could not find jobs to support his wandering. But then, the Scourge came. Whether it was good or bad luck, he managed to pass out from too much mead on the night before the attack on Abresi. Waking up with a hangover to hordes of people fleeing the city, he make the quick decision to run with them. As he fled, he left behind his property, his money, everything he had except for his knowledge and his piece of the Turambar tartan. He tried to fight with the rest at the Cloud Temple, but he was still only 17 and not a trained warrior. And like everyone else, he wept when the world was flooded, rejoiced when the Door of Eternity was opened, wept when the Door was closed, and Anthos lost, and looked on to the fresh start in the new realm of the Fringe. He now hopes to find his Adunian people, but also to continue as an explorer. Ardelenia believes that all religions are the same core, and thus believes in the Old Faith, a single god, and various other gods from different cultures. What are they like (personality)?: - Ardelenia can sometimes be indecisive or immature, as most young adults are. He would like to do great things, but sometimes lacks motivation. He is usually bad at confrontation. Though he is not quick to form loyalties, he is reluctant to break them. Ardelenia tries to be tolerant towards other beliefs, races, morals, etc. He is not afraid to do hard work. He enjoys traveling but also enjoys being at home. He likes performing. What are their ambitions?: - He wants to find a job traveling but still serving the Adunians. He wishes to find out more of his clan, or if they had just separated themselves long ago by choice. He sometimes entertains the idea of building a castle for the (probably) one-person Clan Turambar, when he is visualizing his life to come. He kind of wants to learn how to do tricks like backflips. Do they have any special skills?: - He used to go off on long tangents while talking (he still could but now has better self-control and stops himself). He sometimes imagines the wildest things and wonders if maybe he has some sort of prophetic vision. If that is so, it is also a curse, since no one believes him ((this is kind of like Cassandra of Troy)). This is part of how he got the epithet "the rambler", since he rambles in his speech. The title also refers to his wanderings. Another skill that he has, although not really a "skill" since he doesn't control it (yet…), is that his eyes can change. Usually depending on emotional shifts, his eyes can shift colors or do strange things such as gleam or appear to swirl. He does not know how this happened; he doesn't think he was born with it. Perhaps a dark agent from the Scourge cursed him or something, or a magician of some sort. Then again, he might be wrong, and he was born with it. He wishes to learn how to control his eyes. He is very good with directions and maps. He likes to sing and act. What are their weaknesses?: - As mentioned previously, he can be reluctant to break loyalties, which can be a weakness sometimes. He is not good with a bow; his aim is bad. He occasionally still has issues with his balance. He sometimes over thinks things. Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - He is a little on the short side for Adunians, being 5'10". He has dark brown curly hair, hazel eyes (in their natural state), and his skin is not pale nor tan. It's a nice medium shade. His cheeks, however, are a little ruddy. He is pretty average in his girth and strength: He doesn't have a potbelly or anything, but also doesn't have "chiseled abs" or something like that. He is clean-shaven. He has no distinguishing scars or marks in visible places, but does have a birthmark about the size of an acorn on his lower back, the right side. It is vaguely the shape of an eight-pointed star (quite vaguely). He usually has on short light brown boots, dark pants, a beige shirt and a dark vest. He wears a ribbon of his tartan like a belt ((depicted as a belt with his clan colors, since I can’t fit the full tartan around his waist.)) Anything else you want to say about them?: - ((Please don't think I'm just super uncreative, using my MC name as the character name. I made the MC name intending it to be useable as a character. Also included with the skin are two versions of Ardelenia's tartan. The first shows the all the pixels in a larger format, the second is where the colors are blended, as with actual threads.)) Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: -
