  1. A young boy stood near his father and their teacher, looking over fair Linandria across the lake. The sound of the explosion was heard even there and the sight of smoke and fire rising from across the far mountains would be with him forever... yet the boy didn't know that the world had changed again, that day, only that their lessons in alchemy were cut short and he was rushed into the city.
  2. Lhindir, second of that name, woke from his bed to the sounds of battle. An army of 'Filthy Valah' had come to plunder Norseth'onn then burn it to the ground! Not on his watch. He rose from the bed, rushing to the door and battle. He wasn't five steps from the door when the twelve year old saw his first filthy valah. It was so dirty it could blend in with dirt, ten feet tall with red, beady eyes, and cruel sharp teeth. "Ah," it said in it's evil voice, a voice that sounded like gravel being slowly crushed. "Lhindir II. My Filthy Valah brothers and I have come to end your existence!" "I'm not afraid of you," he shouted back at the fiend, excited. "For I am Lhinder II, grandson of Lhindir I, a powerful master of blade and spell!" Thus said, he shouted his savage battle cry, "Haelun! Haelun! I'm gonna kill it!" From the wall, the almost five foot tall child pulled a small ten foot Dai'Katana, it's special blade crafted by a legendary blacksmith in the mountains. His name was Leo and, after thirty years, he finally created the fine artifact! The filthy valah wasn't unarmed, however, as he dual wielded katanas of his own. "Come, Lhindir the second," it teased him, "Come to me and die!" Lhindir II charged the thing, striking at it's head, then it's arm, and finally ran it through it's chest. All knew that filthy valah had no hearts, however, and it only laughed at him. "Haha!" it said, "I laugh at you and your pitiful attempts at combat! I, slayer of Tristin, Wooer of Artimec, the secret admirer of Calius, am not one to die so easily!" "Is that so?" the boy asked, full of bravado. "Let's see you survive... this!" Lhin II's eyes flashed blue, because he was the good guy, and blue fire ran down the length of his sword, burning the filthy valah to ashes! "Lhin," his haelun called him. "Dinner's ready!" "But moooom," he called back, "I was killing filthy valahs!" Under threat of being forced to do dishes, the boy left the filthy valah alive that day and came to dinner. "Next time," he bared his defiance at the filthy valah, somehow alive again. "We'll be waiting," hissed the filthy valah, waiting in the last place the child would ever look for him... under his bed!
  3. Athrel Aureon, Cleric Apprentice, Husband, Father, sometime wanderer, found himself visiting Ker'nor that day. He didn't know the family, who did? But he knew it might have been his own. He listened to the comments of strangers and felt nothing beyond pity for the family and sorrow for the commentators. He began a quest, one that took him many weeks, searching out any who might have known the odd trio... To his shame and regret, his quest proved a failure. His quest wasn't completely in vain, however, and he was seen again in Ker'nor. On the grave of the unknown family he lay three relics of their life, worthless to any save perhaps this family. A wooden coin, bitten in half, once worn as a necklace it seemed, a broken dagger of sub-standard iron, and a child's drawing of the family were all the legacy he could find... but they would have a name. With the help of a friend, a stone was made: This family died honorably, the epitaph read. Above a simple name, a family name... an elven name: Aureon. He was certain his father would approve.
  4. An elf ponders whether this truly means that war will come to Linandria after all... publicly and all over the bar. Unanswered, he vows to give up drinking... again.
  5. "Treason?" the young Tuvya var Ruthern said to his guards. "This cannot stand. History teaches us that Haense chose to remain with the Empire when we arrived here in Axios, that the Empire of Oren has aided us in our time of need. Do we repay our debts with treachery?" The kid paused, looking up at Lief and Erik. "Well? Of course we do not! Seek out any neutral party, any who are undecided. Let it be known that var Ruthern stands with our King and the Empire. We will drive these treacherous snakes from our fair kingdom. They speak of Orenien interference, as if the Emperor himself sits upon the throne of our King and makes silly declarations. No, this cannot be allowed to stand. For the King, gentlemen!"
  6. Not so. Thornbark is confirmed to drop in both Plains and Savannah biomes. I'm confirming it for you, as that's the only places I thought they dropped. Dragon scale also drops in Savannah. Also: I've heard that any % above 25% velocity was pointless in pvp?
  7. Come back to the GM team Wrynn, you were one of my favorites...

  10. On the reverse side of the notice is a new note, reposted: "Half orc is infertile, is it worth seeking the aid of the gods for further children, or should we adopt? Also, remember to reserve seats for the wedding, it's exclusive, it's small, it's 'posh!'"
  11. Eandyil Torena laughed, "Gods, the depths some people go to," he said aloud. He might not have known what triggering was, but he sure knew it had happened. "I think I'm going to go play around with my half orc," he laughed again, "Meriel Aureon is worth it." With those words, he threw the flyer where it belonged, in the trash.
  12. Eandyil grinned as he read the letter, "This is going to be so much fun!"
  13. "So it's to be war after all," a concerned elf said with a sigh. "I'm not half broke from the last one," he grumbled, off to get horses and supplies for the army.
  14. "So," a younger elf said aloud, though to himself for all that, "I suppose this would be a bad time to, say, announce wedding a half Uruk/Elf in Johannesburg Cathedral?"
  15. I know you lot are busy, so just going to say thanks for busting arse to get this done. Also, Llama Llama!

  20. Honestly, I like Nexus. It's one of the reasons I came back, I like the unique professions bit we have going on. I'd like to see some changes, maybe so it's worth going higher than Masterful in WW, and I'd like less expensive AP/Dismounting/Barbed arrowheads, but it is what it is. Take all times that take 12+ hours and chop them in half. Make my tinker happy. <3
  21. Speaking of, it would be nice if the staffs I craft, aside from Windswept and Upright of course, ACTUALLY had a use.
  22. I've had some players approach me RPly to craft for them, stating that they had heard I was one of the best woodworkers in the land. Confused the hell out of me the first time, til I remembered the whole /sk skill top bit. I'd like to be able to take Event items, like this Wyvern bone that "Looks like it would make a great weapon" and the golem shard that's as long as my arm, take them to Med (in the top ten with both Mining and Blacksmithing) and have a unique, named item with some history. When crafting, I'd say use the input, item, item, bonus items option, and the more unique signed parts one adds (up to say three) the better the weapon is (say slightly Durability, small damage % boost, slightly better reach). After crafting is complete, the description includes the items added to the weapon, say my golem shard and wyvern bone, cooled in the cold flesh of a long dead Kha or something depending on whom it is for, and the item can have it's description changed once by either the smith, who then signs it afterwards (and adds the smithing level to the signature, so Med would be the Aengulic smith or some such) or the person who receives the item (owned by Eandyil). There's no reason that we can't RP stuff like this now, but it rarely happens. As for long crafting time... Yeah, I'll put on something that takes a few hours to 'cook' or craft, then rush off to Linandria or Urguan, RP a little... But what do you do at three am when there's all of 20 people on the server? I don't know about you, but I grind. Passes the time profitably, instead of running around Oren hoping there's someone actually wanting to RP, or searching Axios for people to play with. No thanks, LEAVE MY GRINDING ALONE YOU! Cheers.
  23. ...Since when is enchanting an elven thing? Just to toss it out there, I don't believe he was saying that only elves use enchanting, but that with certain elves (wood elves comes to mind) hatred of void magic, they tend to look at alternatives. The most widely accepted definition of abjuration magic tends to be found in DnD, so I'll quote that here: Abjurations are protective spells. They create physical or magical barriers, negate magical or physical abilities, harm trespassers, or even banish the subject of the spell to another plane of existence. Having read through your post, I find a bit I agree with, some I'd like to see changed... But over all gave it a +1.
  24. Ignored the complete stranger grandly, not even bothering with a sniff of disdain. Kaldri magnanimously deigned to acknowledge the person might exist somewhere, but having never met him he didn't care about his opinion. His support remained with the Forest dwed in this instance.
