  1. Sequestered upon a high tower beneath Aelwenic stars a long-lived Acaelanite elf performed a silent Rosario in her first, and former liege-lord's memory. Lighting candles laden with tropical flowers, she reminisced the distant Isle of Salia. "Gone already, hah.. you've left too soon!" She chuckled, attempting to be facetious. "I never got to truly thank you, for giving this Witness of Availer a place amongst humanity." "Now I can only hope you hear these words from the Skies above."

  3. The Passage The cradle of Purity upon Azuras lies sundered and profaned as the world is condemned by an archaic heresy made anew. A convergence of dark powers - necromantic, mystic and infernal - declared its rancorous blight to the heavens and the firmaments wept. The stolen secret of worldbreaking rent the earth, causing a ragged fissure that clawed itself deep into the banks beneath. A wound was inflicted then, primeval in provenance, a gaping trauma that hemorrhaged lifeforce in smothering plumes. With the Sun’s rays long eclipsed, a godless, eternal night swallowed the Silverwoods. No light nor divinity now reached this desecration, and the air itself shivered in sacrilege. Birthed from this bleeding wound, scores of wailing undead lazily shambled from the Passage’s vestiges, cloaked in tattered shadow and coursing veined blights - the Darkoath, Reikenor’s risen cult-turned-legion. Five Hexwraiths arose last, monolithic and resonant warlords who brandished blackstone armaments and gloaming, bloodshot eyes. Commanded then by a hailing hand, putrid peons and spiteful geists dispersed across the realm at the behest of the Darksworn’s malignant will, driven not merely to slay, but to sow, to blight, to defile. The First Blasphemy was thus wrought, and every clamoring apostasy henceforth would be made known to the cowering divinities until they could avert their gaze no longer. An eye was once plucked in the name of Purity’s decree, and for this a thousand impurities shall be dealt in retribution. OOC:
  4. Name of the Artifact: Dark Blasphemy “ƬO YOU, FIRST MOTION OF ALL THINGS THAT WHICH BINDS BECOMINGS TO DECAY.” - ██████, The Dark Tremors. Artefact Description: N/A this is not an item Effects of the Artifact: ❉ Inversion ❉ The holder of [Dark Blasphemy] is condemned by Reikenor, an ancient necromancer and wraith of Azuras from its distant antiquity hearkening a bygone age of mythologies and legends. Any holders of the Dark Blasphemy are subject to its latent chaos, for it is the common thread binding them to this Apostate’s pandemonium. Visually, the Dark Blasphemy takes the form of an abyssal-necromantic scar upon flesh, not originating from a weapon or curse-imbued miasma but the damning and corroding grip of a Hexwraith or the magic of their master, Reikenor. Veins of malignant crimson energies course through this ebony-hued trauma, inspiring discomfort, disquietude and dread to the eye of any beholder. Mental Effects All holders of the Dark Blasphemy suffer frequent and distorted nightmares as the curse’s latent malice and bedlam lies embedded within the soul. Intrusive thoughts often brushed off become tangible figments, suggestions, and their alignment is nudged towards a more chaotic form of what it previously was, causing the curse to often be mistaken as a source of “evil” when it is rather, more accurately, “change.” Order feels innately disorderly and the mind is prone to irrationalities and delusions that feed into unreachable ambitions. ⬢ The mental effects of the Dark Blasphemy are a persistent, nudging change towards the cursed persona which manifests in erratic bouts of uncharacteristic actions of a chaotic alignment that gradually shifts the persona in said direction. It is entirely at the discretion of the persona to roleplay the extent and severity of these effects but it should not be shrugged off. ⬢ The longer the Dark Blasphemy persists unopposed, the more frequent and insistent its whispers and chaotic impulses become. It may be roleplayed as initially manifesting seldom, then weekly, then daily as the soul’s resistance wanes after weeks and months. This progression slows only through active resistance (meditation, penance, etc.) or eventual Cleric cleansing. ⬢ Alchemical and magical remedies of the mind may act as a temporary panacea to the Dark Blasphemy, however the curse always and unconditionally resurfaces after [3] OOC days of alleviation should the remedying effect be longer than this duration. Magical Effects The Dark Blasphemy is the Darksworn Reikenor’s animus towards divinity made manifest. To him it is only from the uproar and tumult of chaos that truth emerges and the nature of this belief is reflected in this entropic hex. All those in possession of this curse experience misfortune and dysfunction which follows them like a shadow - this functionally manifests as mundane objects being touched by the darkly Blasphemed malfunctioning and breaking before obsolescence, while lesser living things such as flora decay and wither. This is strictly aesthetic and non-combative, only manifesting occasionally at the persona’s OOC discretion. ⬢ The decaying and dysfunctioning effect of the Dark Blasphemy is strictly aesthetic and not combative by any means. It is effectively a form of imposed misfortune and entropy cursed upon the target which surfaces occasionally and may not be used as a means of intentionally griefing others. It is antithetical to the persona’s will, surfacing when the persona least desires it, and remaining dormant should they do. Against servants of the Aenguls, current and former, the Dark Blasphemy manifests its ire in full, loathing and contemptuous as its essence falls in direct conflict with its host. All deific magics below, if applicable, are indicted by a great difficulty in casting that manifests through either pain or mental distress - each connection becomes an inner conflict to be won as the nascent chaos you harbor subverts your light, compounding with every attempt made. A greater consequence of this enigmatic curse lies in the holder's death, wherein one in possession of this curse is condemned not the afterlife promised by their patron, but rather the Ebrietaes; a final act of spite against the Gods and perhaps the grandest negation of their intents for mortalkind. The following protracted effects manifest for each patron: General Redlines ⬢ Only entities bearing a greater soul may be granted the Dark Blasphemy. ⬢ OOC consent is unnecessary for the granting this curse, which may only be given by the ET playing Reikenor, or any of his Hexwraiths. ⬢ Dark Blasphemy may only be cleansed through Clericism, and may be voluntarily DROPPED upon the death of the Darksworn Reikenor who acts as the curse's nexus. ⬢ Pain and mental discomfort upon deific connection caused by the Dark Blasphemy does not impede connection by any mechanical means, though repeated instances of such should be roleplayed as gradually becoming more and more debilitating as the curse strengthens. ⬢ Should the Dark Blasphemy not be purified upon death, the bearer, should they be connected to any of the patrons specified, will be condemned to the Ebrietaes instead of their deific afterlife. This mechanism is unknown to the bearer and should not be metagamed. Explanation of the Effects: The Darksworn Reikenor’s prime objective, inherited from the distant antiquity he hails long past and reinvigorated now at the hands of his new Patron, is both the subversion and provocation of the Staglord’s return. The Aenguls and the order they claim to espouse are the greatest subject of his ire and the Dark Blasphemy is this ire incarnate. An unholy union of daemonic magic and necromancy, the Dark Blasphemy therefore manifests physically as an abyssal scar upon flesh, and metaphysically as a darkening blight upon the soul it afflicts, unobstructive, but meddling. Through this spiritual trauma the psyche of its victim is persuaded towards Reikenor’s guiding principle, pandemonium, while servants of Aenguls furthermore experience its greater, subversive effects. ET Responsible for this Artefact: Jᴏʜᴀɴɴ, Pᴀʟʟᴏᴅɪᴜᴍ
  5. [✴] At this most grievous impurity, within alabaster halls of an empyrean Court the Lord-Purifier, Eternal Arbiter, Vehement Judge, Aengul of Purity and Justice delivers His decree to a heavenly tribunal. Order had fallen, and for it, the world had darkened, marching its deathmarch to ruin - in every vestige there now festered corruption, the Anathema, consumption . . . “Apostasy.” The Staglord avers, auguring the blackened heart of this foul felony. And the world would soon know Purity.
  6. Piercing Rays [!] As the waking world basked in the rays of lost purity, no crevice or vestige of Azuras was left spared from its wave of blinding radiance. Every article and item of a reflective or light-absorbent nature is embraced by a marblescent sheen, while every dark-touched soul fathoms a vindictive, burdening judgement of scrutiny. The following prophecy is available to all practitioners of holy-deific magic, current and former, and all individuals possessing [Prophecy]. It is unseen by those considered an “Apostate” in Clerics of Tahariae lore. [✴] Words of divine inspiration illuminate your mind’s eye, superseding any muse or lesser thought. Any conception of sin, doubt or anxiety departs your conscience and leaves only a pristine slate for an augury to be etched upon. An antlered majesty announces its words steadfast, foretelling a looming and imminent threat: — Darkness and shadow encroaches the land, A divine heresy, grievous and grand. From purity’s garden shall it emerge, A black hand brushing blacker stone, a solemn dirge. — Grafter of the Old Dark, who shall be untombed, A wound upon the World, so deeply exhumed. Shambling from its abyss, a wailing legion, Dealing its death upon every region. — Purity’s rays shall in time pierce the night, When mortalkind atones and exalts His light. Lest Entropy claims its shrouded throne, And the Staghero slumbers evermore, in stone. —

  15. This Lore has been accepted. Moved to Implemented Lore, it will be sorted to it's appropriate category soon. Please note that if this is playable lore, such as a magic or CA, you will need to write a guide for this piece. You will be contacted regarding the guide (or implementation if it isn’t needed) shortly.
  16. "So he's finally dug up someone new..." notes May upon reading the unusual FIRST transmission. "Positively theatrical delivery... I'm almost curious to find out who they are."

  18. "Ooo.. Many promising mages showing face. Exciting!", cheered May as she read of the Celestial Shepard's exploits. "I didn't know there were so many of you." "This one's definitely a wizard-type, don't you guys think so?" She added to her fellows by the newly furnished fireplace at the Society. @NotAPan @Nen
  19. "Oh my." "How precious", spoke Big Hat Society #1, Mayelasiol Aen Tarem, who had picked up a copy of the notice in passing. She looks over the missive, smiling, frowning, laughing, but mostly smiling, delighted by the discourse this curious stranger had sparked. Upon finishing, with a few waves of a finger she idly produces her own response, plastering it below the notice in true Reddit-thread fashion. It's quite precious to me, seeing an unsigned manifesto from one who claims to be enlightened by their own intellect. I don't require your name to know who you are - you are no quote maker, you are an idle quipper, a bored, masterless mote of talent waiting to tread a wayward path. To at least nudge you in the right direction.. I'll answer the things you've said that are actually points and not just posturing! 1. You claim the Creator is but a wizard, or a more heretical entity, who conjured creation and simply left. A short-sighted notion. The Creation of GOD is too different and soulful to have anything to do with the evils of the Void. Your 'magister' would have needed to forge the Veil that repels the infinite, and birth the Aengudaemons without any backlash. A wonderful ideal, to be sure, but the sheer opposition of Creation and the Void is impossible to ignore! 2. You dismiss the Aenguls as deceivers, deluding the descendants into deifying an absent conjurer. I'm no evangelist, proselytizer, or inquisitor so I won't bore either of us with theology. But I'm sure, with your proclaimed wisdom that you are aware of their many past interventions - Aeriel, Tahariae, Xan, and the foremost of all, Availer. If they merely claim to be emissaries of an absentee mage, then why have they punished Iblees, who was seduced by the Void? Why have they been vigilant against the Void's incursions? I'm sure as a fellow 'intellectual' you can appreciate the millennia of evidence that points the other way. 3. The Void's indifference transcends tenets. You're yapping broken recordspeak now - And frankly.. I think we need more material beyond ambitious, overzealous mages going off their own warpaths towards their own self-destruction and inevitable DOOM... it's the same, LAME ending every time. I'm sure you can do better. Anyways, I do admire your spirit. Misguided, potentially evil, unbearably smug.. but spirit nonetheless. So here's my counteroffer, delivered publicly because I am not shameless: Come to the Library of Aelwen in the coming Elven Weeks - the fellows at the Big Hat Society and myself would love to chat with you! ~ Signed, May, Big Hat Society #1. Later that day, within a vast, hollow chamber deep beneath the earth, May begrudgingly offers a copy of the missive to a faceless, gargantuan emblem that resonates with arcane energy. It levitates in the air, accepted by 'something' through a telekinetic tractor-beam. “LOGOS, maybe this is someone thoughtful enough for your... notions... as of late.”
  20. Lounging atop the observatory of Aelwen, Mayelasiol Aen Tarem, #1 of the Big Hat Society, pleasantly signs the missive with a few swishes of an arcane pen. She looks forward to collaborating with her fellow wizards and Acaelanites in the preservation and pursuit of knowledge!
  21. [!] Dispersed to mages junior and senior across Azuras like wind-blown dandelions are mysterious flyers scribed in crisp, transfigured ink. Describing an enigmatic organisation, azure-hued arcana underlies its magical signature - perhaps familiar to those acquainted with the missive’s writer. The Legacy of Availer When the skies were torn asunder during the Thirty Years War and celestial trumpets heralded the arrival of an Aengulic host, one radiant shard of creation emerged as Availer, the Wandering Wizard. With his endless and whimsical appetite for knowledge, he taught the descendants of the Four Brothers of the world they walked not through solemn tomes, but through everyday delights; Why do birds fly? Why do stars twinkle? Why do trees whisper to the wind? Little questions like these were his joy. In the twilight of Aegis, he died as he had lived, a protector, through a climactic sacrifice to fend off hordes of the Betrayer’s undead for the first descendant diaspora. In life, he represented curiosity and the little joys of life, knowing well the burden that came with wisdom. As a martyr, he was kind and loving to those he taught, and the strength of his convictions. To the Big Hat Society, Availer is paramount of the Aenguls, second only to the Creator of the Seven Skies. He is the first of the wizards and symbolic of magic in steady hands, harnessing it for good in opposition to Iblees’ evil; epitomical reverence of the Creator’s craft. His lineage threads through lands, histories, and wizards of legend, from Rasmot the Mad to Blundermore Windraker, Elindor to Crumena Ilwindor, and the enigmatic Arcane Mage, fabled founder of the Mages’ Guild. The Tenets of Wizardry 1. GOD is great, and by treading Availer’s wandering path, you are a steward of the World and thus GOD’s humble servant. Carry oneself with dignity and maintain His purity. 2. GOD is kind, and by walking the path of Availer, you are a shield of the vulnerable and thus GOD's champion. Protect the descendants, the children of GOD unmarred by the taint of evil. 3. GOD is wise, and by walking the path of Availer, you are a beacon for the seeking and thus GOD's educator. Find answers in the world, as only through knowledge may revelation be yielded from ignorance. The Society At its heart, the Big Hat Society is a fellowship of mages curated across the realm of Azuras for their strength of will, storied renown, or flickering sparks of potential. Though its associates and members may clash in ambitions and creeds, like stars adrift in Acaelan, they are unified by a pledge: defying the veil of ignorance, advancing the path of erudition, and uplifting descendantkind. Enshrined beneath the grace of GOD, the Society pursues the path of erudition with Availer’s whimsical zeal, privy to the need of humility in the face of transcendental truths. The Society travels the realms in search of unknowable truths, hidden equations of creation underlying its mysteries, and solemnly wields magic for the betterment of all as lens and lantern alike. Admission Any aspirant mage may earn the title of ASSOCIATE of the Big Hat Society through earnest collaboration with its members, proving their mettle through shared arcane endeavours. Fully-fledged membership is a different story, reserved for those whose exploits or deeds have kindled the inscrutable gaze of << L O G O S >> the Thoughtful, tireless curator of the Society, oracle of Availer and interpreter of erudition. When << L O G O S >> divines a worthy candidate, a singular, esoteric transmission is broadcast across the realm’s arcane forums. The candidate is never referred to by name or styled accolades, and any who sees themselves in the riddle are welcomed to, for curiosity or for fate, follow the cipher’s instructions, and see through its task. Only those who complete the labour shall be granted passage into the Chamber of Dichotomy, undergoing a final, confidential judgement under the gaze of << L O G O S >>. Privileges Convocation at Big Hat Society Colloquiums Members and Associates shall receive exclusive invitations to gatherings held atop Mount Oroderyn, where Azuras’ keenest arcane talent mingle and discuss nascent inventions, matters of the unmundane, and other worldly matters. Audiences with << L O G O S >> the Thoughtful Members may be granted an audience with the Society’s elusive oracle, wherein they are granted ONE question to its vast intellect.
