Hey guys! So with the release of Crusader Kings III a while back, I've gotten interested in applying some of the traits mechanics into an LotC format because I think they could make for interesting roleplay. What I've done here is created a simple system to randomly assign some physical/mental traits to a character when you're creating them or when they're given birth to in rp. It incorporates a lot of the congenital traits from CK3 as well as some additions of my own, and it's by no means perfect, but I still think it works pretty neatly! So let me briefly explain the system I've come up with! Step 1: Do /roll 3 If the result is 1, the character has no noteworthy traits. If the result is 2 or 3, proceed to step 2. This step is to add a chance of no oddities for the sake of realism, but you can skip it of course if you want one of the interesting traits. Step 2: Do /roll 20 Here's where the real system comes into play. For each possible number of the roll, I've assigned a specific trait. These are roughly grouped into the categories; BAD (1-6), NEUTRAL (7-14) and GOOD (15-20). Neutral means the trait can either be bad or good, but it largely depends on how the person rp's it. Bad and Good should speak for themselves. Of course there'll be things that can be improved upon this sytem, like taking in account some attributes that the child's parents might have or changing some of the traits, but I think this is a pretty nice basis for such a system and it adds a nice aspect to roleplaying characters by giving them one of these traits. I might write up a version with even more traits for like a /roll 40 if y'all would like that. Be sure to let me know what you all think about it, feedback is welcome! And naturally, feel free to use this system!

New Reza First Mayoral Decree 10th Sun’s Smile 1790 To the people of New Reza and the greater Crownlands of Hanseti-Ruska: With a new Grand Maer in the saddle, it is time for change, and change has come. In the form of the First Mayoral Decree, I will fulfill one of my campaign promises. ~O~ Subsidies will be granted to the owners of shops and stalls, paid from private funds, that will cover most or all of their property’s taxes. This allows them to not have to worry nearly as much about the costs of their enterprise, and enables them to turn much greater profits, making New Reza an appealing hotspot for commerce. ~O~ From the 10th of the Sun’s Smile of 1790 onwards, any citizen of Haense that is the owner of a store, shop or stall property within the city of New Reza, may contact the Grand Maer to request the acquiring of commerce subsidies, on the condition that they keep their business in New Reza running for the coming five (5) years. If such is the case, they shall be added to a list to receive funds on a yearly basis to support their business endeavor. Contacting the Grand Maer may be done in person, or through the exchange of letters. ((Discord; Sander#0004)) Note: subsidies vary based on the tax cost of the property, but cover between 75% and 100% of the tax cost. Your Grand Maer, K. Amador

[!] A missive was spread throughout New Reza for the people to read As a candidate for the position of Maer in this Haeseni General Election, I have outlined some of the issues that I find most important and that I will center my campaign and tenure around. Furthermore, I’ve outlined some plans to show what people can expect when they vote on me. Your future Maer, Karl Amador Three key issues: Recognition (for the men and women who keep this city running on a day to day basis, and don’t get nearly as much credit as they deserve.) Engagement (by the community in local events and entertainment, something that was in the past a key feature of Maership, and one that I plan to bring back better than ever before.) Supporting the local economy (to accomodate for a dwindling market and a decreasing mina value.) Plans: The following are some of my plans for when I inevitably become Maer. Soldier’s Day An event that will be held for the brave men and women of our armed services (HRA and Knights) to show appreciation for everything they do for us, not just in times of war, but also in times of peace. Awards of merit Personally awarding medals and flowers to exemplary citizens who’ve worked diligently for the city or community. Bringing back church services Through cooperation with the Bishop, Archbishop and High Pontiff, church services will be brought back to New Reza. This could either be in the form of regular mass, classes on religion and saints or and religious celebrations. Karl Amador Foundation for Culture and Learning The Karl Amador Foundation for Culture and Learning, a charity effort I organized years ago, will be called back into action during my time as Maer. This means that sizable funds will go to institutions like the Library, the Weeping Wick Theatre, the Northern Geographical Society and the Royal Academy of Saint Catherine, and cooperation with them will be undertaken to ensure they flourish. Subsidies Subsidies will be granted to the owners of shops and stalls, paid from private funds, that will cover most or all of their property’s taxes. This allows them to not have to worry nearly as much about the costs of their enterprise, and enables them to turn much greater profits, making New Reza an appealing hotspot for commerce. Market Fair A fair that will be organized where local business owners can show off their goods and services, meet (potential) customers and sell some of their products. Your Obedient Servant, K. Amador

Some politicians, most notably of which Jonah Stahl-Elendil, discuss in private. The room where it happened: A reflection upon the less-transparent times of my tenure in the House of Commons by Karl Amador While many probably still remember me as a member of the House of Commons of the Imperial Diet, it has been some time since I retired from public office. We live in a much different world from the time I will discuss in this writ; Hanseti-Ruska has gained independence from the Empire for example, and many of the men to whom I looked up to learn in my career as a statesman; Sir Terrence May, Sir Konrad Stafyr and Conrad Barclay, have since then all passed away. So for those of the younger nature, let me briefly introduce myself before I proceed. My name is Karl Amador, I hail from the Barony of Mondstadt in Hanseti-Ruska and I served as a representative of the Everardine Party and later as an Independent in the House of Commons pretty much since its creation until my resignation two elections ago. Now during this time in office I saw a lot change in the way the Diet was run. Upon gaining my seat in the House, it had just been created as the successor to the Senate, and during my tenure it was still very much developing itself. Many will see it as an open, transparent form of proto-democracy, on show for all of the Empire and the rest of the world to observe when in session. But I will share in this writ of some of the more shady, less-transparent side of the House of Commons that isn’t shown to the public. Private meetings, dirty secrets and cross-party agreements. I feel the need to share these instances to not only give the public a more thorough understanding of the nature of the way the House of Commons was run, but also some of these accounts concern a truth that has not been, and might otherwise never be, revealed. Private meetings While I strongly believe in the transparent nature that any form of political deliberation such as the House of Commons should have, it was not uncommon for some of the more contested and interesting matters to be debated outside of the big room in Varoche Hall. The name I most strongly associate with this practice is that of Sir Jonah Stahl-Elendil, who under his leadership of the Josephite faction (and with that, practical leadership over the House), made it a feature of the Commons. Elendil would frequently meet with members of the House of Commons outside of session, to discuss important matters in private meetings with no transcript that would never see the light of day. I was among these members with whom he from time to time sauntered off to his office upstairs in Varoche Hall. I clearly recall talks he wished to have with my about the state of the budget, economy, and financial practices of the Empire. He would show budget transcripts that weren’t to be observed outside of the Imperial Treasury like it was nothing much of a secret, let alone classified information. He laid out extensive visions for a redistribution of this budget and a change of the economy that. Lowered taxes, an increase in spending: Elendil’s plans could be far from realistic. A second private meeting in Elendil’s office that I recall on a personal level was one about the taxation of Haense and Kaedrin. He invited me, miss Bykov and mister Galbraith to his office to have a lengthy discussion about how to enforce taxes on the provinces; a goal I recall him having for a long time. I was opposed to the notion of taxation, considering the vast majority or nearly all of the spending was done in the Crownlands, especially Helena. Bykov I recall being sceptical, but Galbraith was strongly in favor, much like Elendil. Aside from our opinions on the matter though, what matters more is the belief that one of the most controversial, dividing matters of the Empire, could be discussed and attempted to resolve in such a private meeting in an office, rather than openly on the floor of Varoche Hall. I found it, and still find it, an offense to the dignity of both the House of Commons, and the people of the Empire (and now Haense). A cross-party agreement Naturally, cross-party agreements are nothing controversial or shady in general. After all, cross-party agreements are what make the House of Commons work effectively. What I mean specifically however, is a cross-party agreement that ‘crosses the line’, so to speak. An agreement I too am guilty of being a part of. What I mean specifically is the so-called ‘Haeseni Caucus’ that evolved over the later years of the House of Commons. A secret agreement, made between Josephites, Everardines and Independents alike, where all of the Haeseni representatives banded together into a voting bloc. We agreed among us, that in any matter or bill that concerned the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska in any way, we would all vote together in the way that protected and preserved the interests of the Haeseni Crown, regardless of personal ideological beliefs or party-directed stance. To this day, I do not regret being a part of this Haeseni Caucus. I believe that what we did was right. We protected the interests of our monarch and our people from Imperial meddling, fending off anything that further breached Hanseti-Ruska’s integrity. While I do not regret us Haeseni representatives taking this measure, I will admit that it was somewhat shady and something we hid from not only our Imperial colleagues but also the public, which is less than commendable. A secret most foul What I saved for last is what I consider the piéce de resistance of this writ. A most hideous secret that I was let in on due to leading the Everardine faction at the time. I do not doubt there were many more dirty secrets, given the less offensive name of ‘classified information’, that were shared in the corridors and offices of Varoche Hall, but this is the only major one I have been informed of. Thus this serves as an example of the backroom practices the Imperial Government hides from its people. [!] A reprint of an official document was included in the writ [!] During another private meeting in Sir Elendil´s office, a high-ranking officer of the Imperial State Army, Officer Tovelm, knocked on the door, coming to pick our brains as party leaders, on a matter he had been working on for the IOMI together with the Imperial Cabinet. What later became public as Operation Enduring Freedom; the declaration of war on Sutica, framed as an attempt to ‘free Sutica from the tyrant Corwin Alstreim’, started as something very different. The reprint of the classified document above is what I was delivered by an Imperial Soldier the day after, as a summary transcript of what the Officer Tovelm had discussed with us in Elendil’s office the day before. He told us about the plan to buy Sutica from Trade Prince Corwin Alstreim, who would become a vassal of the Empire, much like the King of Hanseti-Ruska. Sutica was to be gradually incorporated as a full on part of the Empire, with the Trade Prince being offered 100,000 minas for his allegiance. Yes, the Imperial government offered 100,000 minas to a man they would condemn as a tyrant and the biggest threat to the Empire just months later. This would be only step 1 of a grander plan however, Officer Tovelm was so kind to inform us. Sutica was not only to serve as an enormous tax income for the Empire, but also as a military outpost. A jumping off point from which the Imperial Crown planned to conquer all, or most, of southern Arcas in the years to come. Officer Tovelm mentioned nations such as the Talus Grove or Aegrothong, who would have to be put under Imperial rule or be incorporated in the Imperial sphere of influence in this view. I do not know what else is to be said by me about this plan. This is what we were informed of that day in Elendil’s office. The rest is history, as months later, the plan had failed with the Trade Prince refusing the offer, and the Imperial government declaring war upon Sutica and her allies. -[+]- I do not know what consequences my writ might have. I do not know how much of this information exactly had already been (somewhat) known by the public. What I do know is that I am happy for the truth to be publicly exposed nonetheless. If anybody feels I incompletely exposed one of these matters, they are free to send me a letter and ask questions to inquire if I have more to share that I forgot to mention here. Though now divided by borders, Your obedient servant, K. Amador

Fiske sighed deeply as he read the letter, the young Lord was both getting used to and extremely sick of his family members dying. "The Sea Bows to None” He would mutter the old family motto, before entering his castle's chapel to pray for his late aunt.

By Margrave Fiske III Vanir Vaur Komitriez Horns sound in the distance. The day has finally come, tensions between the nations of northern arcas have risen too far, and WAR has erupted. In VAUR KOMITRIEZ, you take take control of one of the four countries of Haelun’or, Oren, Hanseti-Ruska or Kaedrin, and try to lead them to victory through a four-way conflict that will take all of your tactical and strategic ability. How to play: Equipment: To play VAUR KOMITRIEZ, the following equipment is involved: Unit pieces These pieces represent the army and navy units used in the game. The top row are the Army pieces and the bottom row are the Navy pieces. Yellow is for Hanseti-Ruska, red is for Oren, white is for Kaedrin and blue is for Haelun’or. Dice To play the game, players will require a simple 1-6 dice. Board Most important to playing VAUR KOMITRIEZ however is the playing board with all its details. What everything seen on the board means will be explained below under Landscape. The starting setup of the board is shown above. Landscape: The board consists of various types of terrain and has a plethora of markers scattered across it that depict actual places in the north of Arcas. Here is what everything on the board means: Terrain Light green terracotta: plains Dark green terracotta: forest Green powder: hills Blue powder: water Light grey powder: traversable mountains Dark grey powder: impassable mountains Markers 4 walls with banner: nation capital 2 walls: second largest settlement (SLS) Flower pots: smaller settlements Trapdoors: Bridges Marker types Brick: Oren. Helena (capital), Carrington (SLS) Diorite: Haelun’or. Lareh’thilln (capital), SLS N/A Cobble: Hanseti-Ruska. New Reza (capital), Johnstown (SLS) Granite: Kaedrin. Owynsburg (capital), Mansion (SLS) Stone brick: Vuillermoz. Up for conquest by one of the four nations as a smaller settlement. How conquering smaller settlements works is explained under Units & Combat. Occupation To show who occupies and controls what markers on the map, banners will be used for capitals as shown above. If a capital originally belonged to nation A, but has since been sieged and occupied by nation B, its banner will be changed to that of nation B to show it’s occupation. The conquest and occupation of smaller settlements is shown through the use of little flags ((flowers)), the colors of which correspond to the colors of each of the four countries. Yellow for Hanseti-Ruska, red for Oren, white for Kaedrin and blue for Haelun’or. Units & Combat Each turn, a player has to make a choice pertaining to units and combat. They can either deploy units, or move units and optionally fight or siege with them. Deploying units If a player chooses to deploy units during his turn, he can deploy a minimum of 1 unit for his capital, with an extra +1 units per 4 smaller settlements he has under his control. Players have a base unit capacity of 7, +3 for each capital they possess. This means that the unit capacity of each player at the start of the game is 10 for example. When deploying units, players are free to choose between army and navy units. These units can be deployed next to any smaller settlement. This means, however, that if a player does not control a smaller settlement next to a water tile, they cannot deploy navy units. Moving units & garrisons A player can also choose to move his units. Navy units can obviously only move through water tiles and bridges. Army units can only move across land tiles (excluding impassable mountains) and bridges. There can be 1 unit per tile. Units can be in the same tile as smaller settlements or bridges. Moving diagonally is not an option. The distance units can move depends on the terrain they are moving through: Plains or Water (Navy units): 3 tiles per turn Forest or Hills: 2 tiles per turn Traversable mountains: 1 tile per turn Optionally a player can also move army units into his capital or SLS to serve as a garrison to defend against sieges. A capital can hold a garrison of 3 units while a SLS can hold a garrison of 2 units. If a capital or SLS is next to a water tile, navy units can also be used for garrisons. Fighting Combat in VAUR KOMITRIEZ is done by rolling the dice. In a fight, units fight 1v1 at a time, the player with the highest dice roll winning. The player that rolls lower loses 1 unit. A battle goes on until either side has no units left, or the attacker retreats. Sieging To siege a smaller settlement, a player needs to have one of his units on the tile next to the settlement and roll either 4, 5 or 6. If this fails, the siege may continue next turn or with a different unit. Sieging a capital or SLS without a garrison is done in the same way. Sieging a capital or SLS with a garrison is done similarly to a normal battle, with the siege ending once either all the garrison units have been killed, or all the sieging units have died. A garrison can also attack units outside its walls. If capitals or SLS’s exist partly on top of impassable mountains, they cannot be attacked or sieged from those sides. Terrain Modifiers Lastly, there are some simple modifiers to combat pertaining to the terrain it takes place on. If the defender is in; -Plains, Water: No modifier -Forest, Hills: -1 dice roll for attacker -Passable mountains: -2 dice roll for attacker -Capital or SLS forts: -2 dice roll for attacker (if a garrison is present.)

Karl sighed, his eyes fixated on the letter he received on what had happened at the Duma. He shook his head lightly with a soft smile. “Died doing what you loved, Konrad... You always were a man of hard work, was never made to live in retirement.” He grabbed some utensils and a piece of paper as he began writing a letter of condolence to House Stafyr. “Damn me for never telling him how much I appreciated that man... Thank GOD for keeping him with us for that long though.”

As Karl returned home after the battle of New Reza, his shoulders slumped. He'd been told of Jack's demise right before he had meant to leave the city. Where his day had been made with the victory over the Scyflings initially, it had now been ruined. He cursed once or twice in a whisper, signing the Lorraine cross before sticking his hands in his pockets, letting his head droop and heading homeward. The Amador returned from the pantry with a bottle of Carrion Black in his hand, slumping down in a chair before looking out the window at the moon, after a long sigh, he raised the bottle up in a toast "Cheers to you, old friend... You won't be forgotten.”

Karl stared at the letter he received that told him of the news, tears slowly rolling down his cheeks, seeming to struggle to comprehend what he was reading. After a while, the single word that left his lips was a soft, but sharp "Sorry...”

Karl Amador's endorsements for the Haense General Elections of 1775 Morning in a pine forest – Ivan Shishkin As various people have already asked me who I give my support to in the upcoming Haensetian General Elections, I figured I might as well write a public endorsement of the candidates I find best suited for their positions. Tribune – Mackensen For tribune I will vote for Ionian Mackensen. I believe Mackensen has done a splendid job in his previous three terms as Tribune and I fully trust him to continue doing so in his fourth term. So far the only other candidate for tribune is Forrest Cooke, someone I do not know well enough and I do not believe has enough experience, to convince me that he will do as good a job as Mackensen. Royal Alderman – Barclay For Royal Alderman, I give my fullest support to Manfred Barclay. Though Barclay may be young, I believe he has quite the experience with the position already through Sir Osvald Barclay, who did a fine job as Alderman and will undoubtedly guide the already very competent and trustworthy Manfred to do great work in the Haensetian Duma with this position. Maer – Baruch/Vyronov My endorsement for Maer is a bit more complicated. There are four candidates for the position of Maer, three of which I find noteworthy and I will mention here. Firstly there is Angelika Bykov. I have a lot of experience with Miss Bykov through her being my colleague in the House of Commons, and I will say that while her intensions are often good, her execution can be quite lacking. It is not irregular for me to find myself slightly disappointed by Bykov's delivered work, and with her current position in the House of Commons and her job as Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, I feel she will be too occupied to effectively serve as Maer of New Reza. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VOTING FOR BYKOV FOR MAER. That leaves two others, Vorion Baruch and Stefan Vyronov. I consider both of these to be decent enough candidates for the position of Maer, but I also believe both of them have a flaw which makes it difficult for me to pick one above the other. As for Mister Baruch, I would wish he had made his plans as Maer more clear. I believe he is a good candidate as a person, but I would wish he had informed us more of what he would do as Maer. As for Stefan Vyronov, I believe his plans for Maer are very clear and I am on board with them, but he has been Maer before, and in his previous term I feel he has lived up to his promises that he now repeats somewhat poorly. He has said he will do more to follow up on his promises and I hope he will actually do so if he is re-elected. As said for these reasons I cannot pick either Baruch or Vyronov above the other, and as I feel they are both well-suited candidates, I will happily endorse both Vorion Baruch and Stefan Vyronov as good candidates for the position of Maer.

Karl Amador Foundation for Culture and Learning (KAFCuL) When I ran for the House of Commons this election, many people gave me their vote of confidence and I thank all of you for your support. However, while the election results gave me a strong mandate, it did not do the same for the Everardine party of which I am a member. Now in my campaign, I made some promises to the people of the Empire, some promises I plan on keeping. With my party’s minority in the House of Commons this becomes a bit of a challenge however. Therefore, I have decided to take personal initiative. One of my main campaign promises was that I would work to promote and preserve our cultures and traditional values with more funding for libraries, academies and the Canonist Church. To ensure I make good on this promise, I announce the founding of the Karl Amador Foundation for Culture and Learning (KAFCuL for short). What I mean with this announcement is the following: I, Karl Amador, will set aside an initial 10,000 Minas and possibly more in the future, from my own pockets into a Foundation budget from which all money will go to fund one of the following institutions: The Northern Geographical Society Museum The Royal Academy of Saint Catherine The Weeping Wick Theatre The Haensetian Library The Imperial Library The Imperial Academy The Canonist Church Any of these institutions are free to contact me if they are ever short on funding or would like funding for improvements to their institution and the services they offer. If other institutions would like to be involved as well they can send me a private letter and I will consider it. With this, I hope that the preservation and promoting of culture in our Empire is supported for years to come and I look forward to close cooperation with any and all individuals involved in these organisations to bring actual, positive change to the people of the Empire. Your obedient servant, K. Amador

Why should YOU vote AMADOR, in seventeen-seventy-four? Who is Karl Amador? I’m a member of the House of Commons from Haense. I began my political career over in New Reza, sitting in the Haensetian Duma for House Amador various times, positioning myself on the Feudalist bench. I entered politics on an Imperial level with a bid for a Senatorial seat, running against the incumbent, President Sir Konrad Stafyr, resulting in a tie before being defeated by my opponent in a second round of voting. Upon the formation of the House of Commons, I joined the Everardine Party as a moderate and soon after found myself gaining a seat in the Commons in which I’ve served ever since. As of recently I have been appointed Chairman of the Party. Aside from my political career, I have served in the Ministry of Justice for some time as a Constable before I received my seat in the House. In Haense I run a small family owned company where we sell goods produced and grown on our land. I’ve written a few books and other works over the years and as of recently I’ve involved myself directly in the fight against the Scyfling invasion of Haense, standing between the soldiers in various battles. What does he stand for? As stated, I consider myself to be a moderate Everardine. While ultimately I agree the most with my conservative Everardine colleagues, itt is not entirely unusual to find myself agreeing with some of the liberal Josephites’ standpoints. This combined with the fact that I sometimes take inspiration from some Sanoist beliefs, means that I often try to seek the bipartisan way in my resolutions and policies, seeking to bridge the gap that divides the House of Commons. On a cultural and social level I consider myself to be a (tolerant) conservative, while on an economic level I would consider myself more to be on the socialist or sanoist side, being a proponent for welfare principles, support subsidies for businesses to stimulate the economy and lower taxes. What is he running on this election? My standpoints are as follows: -Subsidizing small businesses and walk-in stores -Less focus on new policies, more focus on making the policies we have actually work -Ensuring the provinces reap equal benefit from the imperial government and her policies compared to Oren. -Preserving and promoting culture and traditional values; more funding for libraries, academies and if needed the church too. -Supporting both the ISA and the HRA if needed to maintain a strong and agile military. -Providing whatever the Crown of Haense needs to combat the Scyfling threat -Lowering housing prices in Helena -Smaller government; lessening the bureaucratic mess and the top-down system. What other candidates do you support voting for? Of the currently declared candidates, I recommend voting for either Farooq Gray, Philip Pruvia-Albarosa or Heinrick Othaman, considering citizens have 3 votes to cast. If one insists on voting for a Josephite politician, I recommend Sir Konstantin Wick.
