Her death was unexpected to say the least. After the loss of her son, Rathina Oussana had only her daughters left. One of these four daughters was Z'ress. A young, hot headed but prideful Mali'ker. Although they were related only as sisters, Rathina saw the young girl as a daughter. With death surrounding the young girl, Rathina knew something was wrong when she found her on the ledge that snowy morning.

They said nothing. Maybe if Z'ress had turned around or Rathina had spoken, the events would not have happened. Lost in her sorrow, Z'ress had stepped off the ledge. It was a steep drop. What happened next would throw the entire Oussana family into darkness. Rathina threw herself off after her sister, knocking Z'ress into the cushioned, fresh snow below. Rathina was not so lucky.

With a sickening snap, Rathina lay on the ice, bleeding. The elves nearby ran to the aid of the sisters, able to one, but not the other. When Z'ress came to, inside her room, she learned of what she had caused and did nothing but wail. For days, Z'ress lost herself. Rathina's body was put away for the funeral. Finally after regaining some of her senses, she talked to her father and they went to the woods to hold ceremony.

Only the closest family was told. Z'ress managed to get her niece, Dalninil, from Limith. There they stood in the darkness, Z'ress held tightly to the last remnant of her sister tight. Slowly Khel stepped forth, torch in hand. Mira closed her eyes and looked away, losing much of her family had hurt the young woman. Together the small family watched as flames took the pyre, burning away the flesh.

Z'ress closed her eyes and looked away as Dalninil began crying. Slowly she swallowed and looked towards the moon, now hidden by smoke. "Vedaust, ussta kal'daka ilhar." she whispered into the wind. Tears dripping from her eyes, slowly down her cheeks. She slowly moved to pick up Dalninil as the ceremony ended and headed back to her home. Death was a certainty, but when was the mystery.

Daniella had been there, trying to fix them up. But there's only so much one can do, and unfortunately nothing could be done for Rathina. She sighs, then shrugs.

 

"Oh well, at least I /tried/ to help them." She says as Z'ress was carried away from Rathina's body. Daniella kicks at Rathina's body spitefully. "They'd still hate me even if I did save this ***** somehow...just because I look different...fuckin' pricks..." She glares at Rathina's body and walks off. 

 

"Shut it, Kaylynn." She says to no one inparticular...apparently.

Dalninil follows z'ress unaware of what she was about to see, thinking they were only going to play, the sight of the pry, and seeing her mother on it threw Dalni into a fit of whimpers. She watched, staying hidden behind z'ress as the night went on and the pry was lit. Dalni remained quiet, unsure how to take everything. she puts a hand to her heart, an unknown emotion washing over her, silent tears falling from her cheek. She remains quiet as shes taken back home to sleep by her sister who she snuggled with, in need of some comfort.
