Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted December 29, 2013 No. Just find a teacher and RP your training. And please, if you want anyone to take you seriously, please don't suddenly become a Fresh off the boat master fire mage. Just RP your training.

Lago 2572 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Do you have to apply for magic? The Magic Application System was removed for multiple reasons. You no longer have to apply for magic and can freely roleplay it. However, LotC's magic lore is quite extensive, and you may want to read up on it before trying to RP it, PM me if you have any questions. Also, as Cyndikate said, it's better to start as a novice or average mage rather than RP an incredibly powerful wizard right off the bat.

Neri 3590 Share Posted January 2, 2014 No, you do not! You can simply get a teacher ingame or find a magical tome detailing how to learn the magic. Remember though, you need to learn how to connect to the Void first in order to use many kinds of magic, although there are a few exceptions to this. This thread should give you some insight into how the Void and Magic works. Some of it may be outdated though, so take it with a grain of salt; http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/53824-magic-canon-part-i/ Remember, reading about magic on the forums doesn't count as character knowledge - you'll need to find this out ingame in order to use magic properly. If you need any more help feel free to PM me, a GM, or Geoboy66 (Magic Team Leader). We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. I wish you luck with your Magick Studies, young student. Have a good time playing LOTC!

I wish you luck with your Magick Studies, young student. Have a good time playing LOTC! You don't need a teacher, though, so long as you RP your magic well. At this point, the lore for void magic is less important, as technically one can create their own type of magic so long as they are reasonable (basically, keep it of equal power to that of a regular swordsman if it is for combat, if not, just don't have it give you a huge advantage). Just make sure the roleplay is good, and be willing to take feedback from others, and you should be fine with your magical endeavors :)
