Temporary Region For The Upcoming Battle

Hello, I'm making this thread regarding the war claim that is planned to to take place at 3PM EST/8PM GMT tomorrow. I've spoken to a few dwarves and been told that any attempt to get the region on their fortress has been met with denial so far as it is said to lie within the boundaries of the freebuild.

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/104378-warclaim-dwarven-front-and-surrounding-area/

I just want to help settle this once and for all. The land here is considered dwarven and therefore there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be given at least a temporary region to defend their lands. Almost all of dwarven lands are in fact freebuild so this is the equivalent of saying that all of human and elf lands outside their capitals should also be unregioned and remain that way, even when put under a warclaim. To quote the issues I brought up in another thread.

Now this whole deal with the dwarven lands getting unregioned like this seems very shady in all honesty. When I joined teamspeak before this battle, there were a lot of questions being thrown at the dwarves asking things such as "If we region your lands for this battle, what about the other races?" I believe the dwarves then tried asking for a temp region and even that was denied to them.

I think there's a lot of confusion here about what the freebuild regions were supposed to mean for the dwarves. The agreement with unregioning these lands was never that they would suddenly become an IC and OOC neutral territory.  Even though you've unregioned these areas, dwarves still patrol them and take down any illegally built structures. These are lands that have been recognized as dwarven throughout most of Anthos, not only by their own nation leaders.

Take this map made by Aetosion for example:

Essentially what you're saying in all this is that when it came around to unregioning Anthos, the other races complained while the dwarves didn't. Can anyone explain then why they're getting penalized now for this decision? In the Battle for Shadowcastle, the dwarves went up against a fully regioned fortress and yet when they came under attack, they're not even allowed a temporary region. It doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Also a further point that Spuller brought up.

Now there was the fort in the battle for Thoringrad which the GMs and Admins outright refused to make a region for - This makes it nearly impossible to defend with people digging, breaking blocks etc. As this has never happened before in the history of LotC, why is it that on this particular warclaim, we were forced to defend an unregioned plot of land?

I hope you can see now that by doing this, you are placing a completely unfair disadvantage upon the dwarven playerbase. In the last battle, they decided to go ahead with it anyway and found their traps weren't working because somebody had mined into the redstone. This time, it has been made a term of accepting the war claim and the event will not be able to go ahead unless it is regioned before tomorrow. Therefore I would like to request that a temporary region be made over the fortress that can subsequently be removed when the battle is over.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope that we can get this situation resolved as soon as possible.

I personally believe that once an area has been removed from a region, that there should never be a permanent region placed there.

I see nothing wrong with temp regions so long as no-one has permission to build/destroy blocks in it and is flagged to tell people as they enter: You have entered a war-zone, and when you leave: You have left the war-zone.

Giving the dwarven forts regions in the warclaims only would be a bit unfair whats to stop you breaking blocks and such to our fort... also no region should be added at all unless you add every single person to the region since ladders are part of warclaim if theres a region there blocking anybody from using ladders it breaks the warclaim terms

The no destroying/building blocks during war claims is something I completely agree with. I just want to make sure this definitely happens before the warclaim begins and that there's no last minute u-turns. If a GM could speak to spuller about where the temporary region needs to be, that would be very helpful.

This has been the situation in every other warclaim before the last one, including the battle at Shadowcastle. GMs are supposed to place ladders. As Sky said, perhaps nobody should have permissions to the region whatsoever.

The battle isn't going on at the human fort but if you need one for the warclaim for whatever reason, I don't see a problem with that. The important thing is we at least get a region up or this warclaim isn't happening.

Please just give us a solid 'dwarf' region like the humans have the massively distended 'human' region and the elves own all of that land under worldguard protection.

pls?
