Hratt'Blettur Horses

Rokkur wiped the sweat from his brow, his legs cramping from staying kneeled. He once again placed his hands under the horse, muttering to the mare. “Come on sweetheart, almost there.”

-skip rough birthing sequence-

Rokkur leaned back, cradling the small horse in his arms. He gently ran his fingers through the thick curly hair, gently placing a bottle of milk to the foal’s mouth. He ran his finger along the stripe on his nose, cuddling the warm body. He eventually sat up, placing the filly in the hay, placing a warm blanket over it, and laying down beside her, and falling asleep. The mare next door would give birth to a similar horse the next week. A new breed was forming, and Rokkur would be the first to raise them.

A few months later

Rokkur walked out a pair of horses to the grass field outside the stables. He took the rope off from around the horses’ neck, and stood next to them inspecting them. Even for young horses, they were short and stocky, with finely tuned and strong muscles. The female was a sandy brown color with a white stripe along her brow, and the male was a dark grey color. They were young, and did not even stand up to his shoulder. At this rate, their shoulders would be hardly taller than his head, perhaps a hand or two. Strangely, the hair was still a little long and curly, but considerably shorter than the hair of their birth.

Rokkur stepped up, gently slapping the hind leg of each of the horses, wanting to see how quick they might just be able to move. He had bred them from the best speed horses and the best endurance horses, matching them up, spending years to perfect these horses.

And they were off. Rokkur dropped his jaw as the horses met max speed in just a few strides. They flew off, at a very fast pace. He rubbed his grizzle thoughtfully as they horses were fast, but not as fast as some of the southern horses. His thought wandered for a while, only to come back to see the horses still running...at top pace. The endurance of these is amazing!  thought Rokkur. A large grin spread across his face.

The Hratt'Blettur horses were born.

Appearance

These horses are short and stocky. They stand about 13-16 hands at the shoulder, and have long manes. They have thick, muscled legs that can turn at incredible speed. Due to their height, they often lack the speed of the taller Southeron horses, but are able to continue this pace for long stretches of time. They can appear at any color, but very very few are purebred colors, as the line started from mixed breed horses.

Characteristics

  • Short, stocky figure

  • Muscular body and legs

  • Great Speed

  • Legendary endurance

  • Curly, longish hair, used for warmth

  • Steady footing, from long lines of Northern mountain heritage

  • Many have been noted to be especially brave

  • They are rather long-lived

  • They are about as stubborn as horses get

((Classifications/How to get one))

  1. Drake Stables is the first and only stable to, as of this post, sell these horses (This is due to the fact that Rokkur (me) is the only one to have bred these horses, and, as of this post, has yet to begin selling them. If sold, you will be notified that these are Hratt'Blettur and will be RPed as such)

  2. The horses require a speed of 4+. If you don’t know what this is, then you definitely do not have a Hratt'Blettur

  3. These horses can not wear horseshoes. If worn, the feet will become too heavy, eventually hurting the horse’s running ability.

  4. These horses can not normally wear armor, for the same reasons as above.

  5. These horses are not meant to be battle horses. While smart, they lack the sheer size to fight in open combat. RP as such.

This seems a little O.P if you ask me. I mean if they are short and stocky with legendary endurance, maybe they aren't that fast. Or if they have great speed and steady footing maybe they don't have much endurance.

Keep in mind nothing about these can be OP. They rely on MC mechanics, and if you understand horse breeding, you will understand how hard it is to get a horse like that.

Firstly, Steady footing is disregarded in MC mechanics, it only is for RP purposes. A short stocky animal would fair better in areas like that anyway, and I present mountain goats as evidence.

Secondly, due to MC mechanics, every single horse ever has infinite endurance. Now there is an RP reason for being able to run forever at 100% speed (which RPly, even these horses can't), and never tire.

Thirdly, this speed, once again is relying on MC mechanics. If the breeder can not produce a fast horse (from Hratt'Bletturs of course), then it's not fast. Saying it is from a fast family won't change that if it moves slow.

Fourthly, this horse would actually hurt abilities, making it very unOP. Any horse could be any of Hratt'Bletturs positive abilities, because, once again, MC mechanics are required. However, RPly, these horses can't even wear armor. They actually LOSE capabilities.

Fifthly, if these are RPed correctly, then they couldn't really enter open combat very often. However, any old horse that your local thief snags from the stables down the way could run into battle, fully armored, and shoed hooves flashing.

To conclude, RPly these horses have an edge, but unless that edge can be provided through MC mechanics, then it is lost. In fact, someone's pony from the cheapest stables could be MCly better, because it could have a little better stats, and people would be RPly allowed to put armor on it.

I will try to help get some more of our fastest horses out for selling, however we need to get rid of some of our other stock too. With the heatmap, breeding can be an issue. So bare with us when it comes to the horses.

Yep. It's actually Jade's stables I'm working on, but the heatmap is killing us. Of horses that did the whole breeding process thing today 2/5 actually produced children, the others just ate my carrots, ran into each other, and then left.
