As The Glades Fall Dark

 Share

Recommended Posts

One by one, the songbirds of Abresi's pine wilderness fall silent.

One by one, they drop to the ground, bodies dry as a bone, their only wounds single punctures to the neck.

The glades fall silent as new eyes scan the forest.

Hungry, always hungry.

It tests, it leans, it studies. Its prey is cunning, so too must be it.

Silence falls.

Hungry, ever hungry.

Travelers trek on down the road, the walls looming oh so close.

Bodies appear, cold and brittle husks.

A single punctured neck.

Still hungry.

Unnatural darkness falls over the forests.

Six eyes watch from the treetops.

Grant's leather covered hand drifts gently down to the ground, plucking a dead body from the ground and raising to examine it's small and cold frame.

"Not a pleasant death, but it seems one quick and... without much pain..."

His feet break into a sprint as he moves towards the lands of the children of Malin, in search of a certain Kamura.

Several incarnations of Delver Lackey (all 4 of them) remember a beast similar to that one.

(I remember that same pic being used for a skin of a monster that attacked the delver base....)

Ouity wonders if perhaps the Delvers dealt with a similar being at some point. If only somebody would tell him.

Huor and Tyrnal's ghosts shake their heads.

"Not another one of those things." -they both say simultaneously in echoey ghost voices.

Lorethos, astride his destrier, trots down the path towards Abresi after having met this insect-like creature in combat. It seemed to fear magic. Perhaps soon the people of Oren will understand that the Order of the Pale Crescent is necessary to deal with such foes as these.

((I actually saw that picture on DeviantART and saved it on my computer; thought it would be awesome for an event lol))

A hooded figure stalks the stalker, assessing its every move. "Looks like the green devil has more work to do!" The figure giggles before disappearing.
