Setting Soulstone slot 0 to anything but the Cloud Temple is absolutely insane. If that will happen, there is no reason to have the Cloud Temple to begin with.

In addition, no one should be able to have different professions for different character cards. Allowing for any kind of switching, no matter what cooldowns or restrictions you apply to it, is fundamentally and absolutely abusable.

Default SS should always be Cloud Temple. Makes RP and OOC sense.

The way to capitals is much easier in 4.0 so newbies won't get lost. They do their first journey then they can bind their open slot to their racial capital if they so desire.

Agreed. People will always try to min-max their stats so they can win.

Perhaps I'm one of those players who has left but likes to poke about the forums for his own fun, but I'll leave my thoughts, as I think I have some useful feedback, given that I've considered a lot of what is touched upon here:

VIP Perks: Make these a priority, as donations are something we need (although there's a rumor afoot that a sizable portion of the server's funds are not going to the proper location... not sure on its validity, but it comes from staff/former staff members, so this should probably be looked into), which can provide for some of my future suggestions.

Racial Bonuses: I think these are cool, just don't make them too extreme, and don't make them a priority. If they're already coded, test them out and put them up, but if they cause too many issues remove the plugin and put it on the backburner.

Optimization: I think this is one of the most important things for you guys to work on. I read your post on the thread you linked, and I liked what you had to say. I believe that at the very least, unused signs/chests can be punched away by creative-mode folks to be rid of some entities, and non-hostile mobs that are held in massive quantities can be cut down (RP reasons can be created for this). In terms of remaking large plugins in a manner that can cut down on the way it draws upon the server (ie. MVP), I think that's something you guys should do. However, I also think that you guys need to be paid for your work here so that such shitty work can be justified. If we don't make enough money (which I've heard we do, but again, merely hearsay on what's going on with that cash flow), then I'm certain the admins and GM's can think of creative ways to increase donations if they actually try. It's just that nobody has ever tried fundraising in any sort of notable manner for god-knows-why. Other than that, no small plugins need to be cut or recoded unless it's an easy fix or they're totally useless, as there's no reason to waste the time. Regardless, THE TECH TEAM NEEDS TO BE PAID.

Professions: Cool that this is going very well. If you release them individually, it will be more efficient for you guys and easier to fix, but you'll inevitably get some **** the way Telanir did for releasing Nexus combat without the rest of Nexus. If you release them as a group, you'll inevitably get **** for any issues and it will be more work to resolve for you guys. Neither is terribly ideal, but I'd say the former is preferable, as it allows for the Tech Team to demonstrate its ability to solve problems, and should prove to lead to a better plugin. Better PR in the long run (provided you do what you're meant to) and a better plugin, I'd go with that one. The difference probably won't be too huge though. However, this should be slightly higher on the list than the magic plugin, which should be a few notches higher than the racial skills plugin. We've waited a year, what's a little while longer? ;p

Oh, I almost forgot. I'd just make it so players can't change their names, but instead only GM's can once they've registered. That would be an incredibly easy modreq for GM's to do, but prevent people from having multiple cards for one character. That way, if you're fighting an elf girl and get killed by Groggle'Ugluk, you know there's an issue. But if the cry for having switchable character skillsets is too strong (which is silly, since it's super easy to make it difficult to abuse, and really easy to catch), then I guess just have a common skillset where each level gets harder based on the total number of levels you have (rather than on the level in that skill) so it would be hard for you to be good at everything, but doable if you have multiple characters who have varying skills. Then again, just having a finite number of levels does cut down on alts which would be nice. However, that would lead to the most bitching, so I'd go with the first, or if absolutely necessary, the second.

Seasons: Personally, I think these are a bad idea. New players will get confused by an already confusing server, and it provides a very small benefit. However, if you must do it, it really ought to be of the lowest priority regardless of ease of coding (although I doubt it would be terribly easy), and it should be as unobtrusive as possible. No killing crops or frustrating stuff like that, every option on the poll should be implemented.

Soulstone Slot 0: Keep it at spawn, we want to get more friendly interracial RP, not segregate people from other races. I think the CT in Asulon as a small RP hub was really fun, and it made being a new player pretty easy since you could always get directions and RP right away.

Newbie Protection: Why not, it sounds relatively harmless in my opinion. Maybe make it so that alternate character cards can only be made once a month by a player, otherwise a GM has to do it (another relatively easy modreq) so that either you can only abuse it once a month or risk a GM seeing you're trying to use it to dodge PVP. Likewise, the GM would have to set the name (if my other idea went through), so no having the GM set up the card then having the player change it right afterward to a non-alt.

Anyways, these are the thoughts of a former/probably future player on LotC who is pulling an all-nighter with two redbulls, an Adderall and thirty hours of dancing without sleep earlier this weekend, so excuse any stupidity. However, I feel pretty lucid right now, so I think this all makes sense and is good and stuff. Also, sorry for the language, although I suspect nobody will mind (thanks FM's ;)     )

Anyways, you seem awesome Sporadic, and I love your socks. Peace!

The only thing that I request for the FTB plugin, if it comes into fruition, is that we have a sound clip of Urasept's moan and nobody else.

I feel like these new professions and racial bonuses might take away the roleplay aspect and replace it with an mmorpg feel. I guess this will attract a curtain kind of player but it will be unattractive to some of the older, dedicated players. Don't get me wrong, it seems really cool, just don't take away the roleplay focus in LotC.

An idea would be that when your doing something that has to do with your profession a message would pop up in chat saying *You dip the weapon into the water, steam rises like wildfire*.

This would make you feel like stuff is going on even though you might be alone.

So again, the new system seems great, just keep it mostly roleplay please.

So far Im loving everything about Nexus and recent Tech Team projects, except for one reason addition.

Armor weight.

I don't like armor weight because it simply kills pvp, it makes it unfun, seeing as you move at a pace of like 2 blocks per minuite.

It makes it impossible to strafe, use any skill, its really all just spam clicking, alas it encourages hacking.

I think battles on the server would we bay better with normal speed, speaking from experience.

Also, there are better ways to handle balancing leather wearers and iron wearers, how about give people in leather archer benefits, such as increased damage or fire.

Just my two cents, I really hope something could happen about armor weight its the only thing I really could complain about.

They have those. You just can't see them yet because nobody can level leatherworker :D

The speed will be tweaked, and tweaked further to fix a bug allowing better blacksmiths to make better-fitting armor (thus less slow). It's not like we took away sprintjumping so you aren't completely immobile. There's also an exploit to counteract speed anyway. Anyway if you can't handle the speed penalty switch to chainmail. choices choices.

Get those nasty PvP buffs out of here mon. You are supposed to pick a race after how you want to write your story, not about the race that has the best stats for me(Thats what you do in wow and other MMORPG's)..neither should the tech team promote conflict.

There should not be any buffs/nerfs to races when it comes to combat, movement or anything like that. Professions is ok but other than that it will be a bother and will cause tension between groups..just stop with MMORPG road.

Tis an RP servah..tis a rvse.

FTB plugin was a funny joke, should stay that way.

I love the PVP free feature, but give new players the option to turn it off. What if newbies want to PVP?

Would love to switch to chainmail I thought it was broken?
